-
Hello All,
Since I have my domain mapped to wordpress.com site which does not allow google analytics ... I am worried if it would effect my seo campaign out here . While i see on the seomoz platform, i am being prompted for analytics I wish to know if its ok running seo campaign without analytics ? If not , what should i do to avail analytics ??

Not an issue Paul. I appreciate all the information you shared.Thank You a again!

Unfortunately, Vikash, I'm not aware of any way to correct the duplicate content issues you're having on wordpress.com. It's one of the severe limitations I was referring to that makes me recommend against using wp.com for business sites.
On a regular, self-hosted WordPress site, this kind of issue is very easily addressed using specific SEO plugins designed just for this purpose.
Sorry not to have better news.
Paul
P.S. Re: using the QA forum - when you create a question, there is a check box to tell the system to notify you by email each time someone answers your question. Even if you don't set that, there is also a small email envelope icon (beside the red flag icon) in the question box once your question has been published. Clicking on that when logged in will also allow you to request email notification of any responses as well.

Hei Paul,
First of all, apologies for a delayed response as I am very new to the Moz and the QA forum, i have no clue how things work. I had no clue about the valuable information you shared with me about self hosting and I saw it while I came up with another issue!! So thanks a ton for the valuable information ! your suggestions actually make me think its time I change over as I already have too many things to transfer !
If you could assist regarding one more thing , it would be kind of you ! How do i fix the errors - the duplicate contents and other issues which have piled up to over 1200 and I have no clue how to fix them being hosted on wordpress.com. ?
Thanks and Regards
Vikash

Just one quick thing, Vikash. i fully understand that you're just diving into this area, but I want to warn you that if you start with a hosted WordPress.com site and eventually build up business value in it, it's actually a huge amount of work to transfer the business value of that site to a self hosted version of WordPress in the future.
If this site is a serious start towards building an online business presence, I would strongly recommend you seriously consider doing it on a self-hosted version of WordPress instead. It will save you a massive amount of work down the line. It will also give you significantly more flexibility in the near term as you start optimizing your business site.
On the other hand, if the site is just an experiment for when you will build your next real site, WordPress.com is a reasonable place to start.
I've just encountered far too many people who started a business site on WordPress.com, only to later find they practically had to restart from scratch when it's limitations became too great for their business.
Just something to think about.

I am taking baby steps in online marketing .... learning new things with each day passing by . Thanks a ton for the suggestion. Once I start walking a little more confidently ,that would be the first in my to-do list . Appreciate your help !!

Thanks for sharing this information Adam. Appreciate it! Will follow the link .

Thanks a ton... for the explanation Paul ... You answered not only the question I asked but also the one which would have been following right after !!

Why don't you have a standalone wordpress hosted site. More flexibility. Your not limited then.

Adding Google Analytics to your SEOMoz reports is just a nice add-on. Not implementing it will have not effect on your SEOMoz reports, it just means the Analytics data can't be automatically included.
It is pretty tough to do good SEO without a strong analytics foundation for your site though, which is one of the big drawbacks to a WordPress.com site, especially for business. In addition, you can't install any of the SEO plugins that allow for the kinds of customizations you may want/need.
But short answer - no, not being able to add Google Analytics will have no effect on THE SEOMoz tool itself.
Hope that helps?
Paul

Not sure if it will help, I'd debate whether I would use it really, but you could use the CloudFlare apps. Never done it myself though...

How to remove 404 pages wordpress
I used the crawl tool and it return a 404 error for several pages that I no longer have published in Wordpress. They must still be on the server somewhere? Do you know how to remove them? I think they are not a file on the server like an html file since Wordpress uses databases? I figure that getting rid of the 404 errors will improve SEO is this correct? Thanks, David

SEOmoz not showing Google rankings accurately in Ranking Reports. How do we fix this?
We have a running campaign for a client who has rankings show for Yahoo and Bing within the SEOmoz Ranking Reports, however, Google shows no data or rankings. When we manually check from different IP's and computers and browsers, we see our client ranking very well in Google and for keywords which we have inside their campaign for SEOmoz. Can anyone provide insight into this? Have you experienced this also? Our reports would look terrible going to the client if sent from SEOmoz directly as Google shows 0 (Not in Top 50) for all keywords, so we have to get rankings from other sources or manually to show our client. Thank you in advance for your help and tips everyone!

Are the SEOMoz queries banned by Google?
Hi: In our company, we have notified that Google is banning our IP due to massive queries under the same IP. It is caused mainly by local softwares installed in PCs or some plugins of Firefox. We think that SEOmoz don´t causes this due to its tool uses its own IP and servers, not ours. We would like your opinion about this. Thank you,

Can I prevent some pages from being crawled from SEOMoz spider and still not affect Google Spider?
Well, basically that's the question 😄 Can I prevent some pages from being crawled from SEOMoz spider and still not affect Google Spider? This is, I have more than 10.000 pages on the website, and I am not interested in having reports for many of them, but I still wanna get SEO visits on them, so I want Google to crawl it easily... Thanks!

SEOMOZ Crawling Our Site
Hi there, We get a report from SEOMOZ every week which shows our performance within search. I noticed for our website www.unifor.com.au that it looks through over 10,000 pages, however our website sells less than 500 products so not sure why or how so many pages are trawled? If someone could let me know that would be great. It uses up a lot of bandwidth doing each of these searches so if the amount of pages being trawled reduced it would definitely assist. Thanks, Geoff

SEOmoz ranking report SERP
I was wondering how SEOmoz the SERPs tracks? e.g. the SERP of keyword in the Google US report, doesn't give me the same result as https://www.google.com/search?pws=0&gl=us&q=keyword Does SEOmoz check the google.com SERPs from several locations and calculate an average?

Domain.com and domain.com/index.html duplicate content in reports even with rewrite on
I have a site that was recently hit by the Google penguin update and dropped a page back. When running the site through seomoz tools, I keep getting duplicate content in the reports for domain.com and domain.com/index.html, even though I have a 301 rewrite condition. When I test the site, domain.com/index.html redirects to domain.com for all directories and root. I don't understand how my index page can still get flagged as duplicate content. I also have a redirect from domain.com to www.domain.com. Is there anything else I need to do or add to my htaccess file? Appreciate any clarification on this.

Campaign warnings and recommendations
How crucial is it to follow / fix the campaign warnings. For example, even though our website is ranking well the campaign report is stating that we've too many links on the majority of pages and the title element is too long. My question is if I make changes based on these recommendations, do you think that we will see a dramatic improvement in our rankings ?
