How do I Syndicating Content for SEO Benefit?
-
Right now, I am working on one E-Commerce website. I have found same content on that E-Commerce website from manufacturer website. You can visit following pages to know more about it.
http://www.vistastores.com/casablanca-sectional-sofa-with-ottoman-ci-1236-moc.html
http://www.abbyson.com/room/contemporary/casablanca-detail
http://www.furnitech.com/ft55cfa.html
I don't want to go with Robots.txt, Meta Robots NOINDEX & Canonical tag. Because, There are 5000+ products available on website with duplicate content.
So, I am thinking to add Source URL on each product page with Do follow attribute. Do you think? That will help me to save my website from duplicate content penalty?

Hi Matt,
Thank you very much for two valuable suggestions. I am agree with you. We have added product specification in form of paragraph.
Now, We are planning to compile set of content for each and every product page for good user experience. It may create some romance on product pages.
I will consider your URL length related input in next product import.
If you have any additional inputs or suggestions for me? If yes so It will fabulous for me. Because, I have visited your website and You have done great work over there.
This is biggest reason to love SEOmoz... Right platform to communicate more with E-Commerce marketing guys... just like you!!

That's not the site I was talking about specifically but it is a site that my team are working on.
Looking at that product on your page, the content is essentially is a list of features. My advice? Try and make it unique and interesting. It can be hard to do this without simply thickening the content with fill words though. Maybe try to be funny?
By the way, I'd try and make your URL a little shorter

Great. I'm pleased you are wanting to do it the right way. Many people come here for advice and simply reject the advice given because it costs too much money or takes too much effort.
Generally, creating decent unique descriptions for 5000 products will take lots of time and effort. If you do have a budget for this sort of thing then it might be worth trying oDesk or Elance or something similar. Just remember that if you follow this advice, you should also have someone editing and checking the descriptions that you are provided with.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm working on a site at the moment which needs unique descriptions for 30,000 products.

Hi Matt,
Honestly, You don't need to say sorry for it. I am really happy to read very straight answer.
If unique description is only solution so, I will happy to go with it. But, I want to double make sure before jump on it.
Because, It's big investment of time & money for us. I am quite excited to read few more answers on this question.
By the way.. Thanks for your answer...

If you want the honest answer then there is only one real way of making this work... Rewrite the descriptions. Make them unique.
If you really want the pages to do well then this is the solution.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
Matt

SEO implications of using Marketing Automation landing pages vs on-site content
Hi there, I'm hoping someone can help here... I'm new to a company where due to the limitations of their Wordpress instance they've been creating what would ordinarily be considered pages in the standard sitemap as landing pages in their Pardot marketing automation platform. The URL subdomain is slightly different. Just wondering if anybody could quickly outline the SEO implications of doing this externally instead of directly on their site? Hope I'm making some sense... Thanks,

Duplicate Content
Let's say a blog is publishing original content. Now let's say a second blog steals that original content via bot and publishes it as it's own. Now further assume the original blog doesn't notice this for several years. How much damage could this do to blog A for Google results? Any opinions?

Javascript and SEO
I've done a bit of reading and I'm having difficulty grasping it. Can someone explain it to me in simple language? What I've gotten so far: Javascript can block search engine bots from fully rendering your website. If bots are unable to render your website, it may not be able to see important content and discount these content from their index. To know if bots could render your site, check the following: Google Search Console Fetch and Render Turn off Javascript on your browser and see if there are any site elements shown or did some disappear Use an online tool Technical SEO Fetch and Render Screaming Frog's Rendered Page GTMetrix results: if it has a Defer parsing of Javascript as a recommendation, that means there are elements being blocked from rendering (???) Using our own site as an example, I ran our site through all the tests listed above. Results: Google Search Console: Rendered only the header image and text. Anything below wasn't rendered. The resources googlebot couldn't reach include Google Ad Services, Facebook, Twitter, Our Call Tracker and Sumo. All "Low" or blank severity. Turn off Javascript: Shows only the logo and navigation menu. Anything below didn't render/appear. Technical SEO Fetch and Render: Our page rendered fully on Googlebot and Googlebot Mobile. Screaming Frog: The Rendered Page tab is blank. It says 'No Data'. GTMetrix Results: Defer parsing of JavaScript was recommended. From all these results and across all the tools I used, how do I know what needs fixing? Some tests didn't render our site fully while some did. With varying results, I'm not sure where to from here.

Multi-Store SEO
I am currently developing a website which will have a multi-store function, i.e. one for US & ROW customers and one for UK & EU customers. The domain names will be along the lines of: Original domain: www.website.com UK & EU domain: eu.website.com US & ROW domain: us.website.com When a customer visits the website they will be redirected to one or the other depending on their location. Can anyone see any problems which this may cause in respect to SEO? I know there may be a duplicate content issue here also, how should I best deal with this?

Question on Moving Content
I just moved my site from a Wordpress hosted site to Squarespace. We have the same domain, however, the content is now located on a different URL (again, same base domain). I'm unable to easily set up 301 redirects for the old content to be mapped to the new content so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a workaround. Basically, I want to make sure google knows that Product A's page is now located at this new URL. (www.domain.com/11245 > www.domain.com/product-a). Maybe it's something that I don't have to worry about anymore because the old content is gone? I mean, I have a global redirect set up that no matter what you enter after the base domain, it now goes to the homepage but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something here. Really appreciate your help!

ECommerce syndication & duplicate content
We have an eCommerce website with original software products. We want to syndicate our content to partner and affiliate websites, but are worried about the effect of duplicate content all over the web. Note that this is a relatively high profile project, where thousands of sites will be listing hundreds of our products, with the exact same name, description, tags, etc. We read the wonderful and relevant post by Kate Morris on this topic (here: http://mz.cm/nXho02) and we realize the duplicate content is never the best option. Some concrete questions we're trying to figure out: 1. Are we risking penalties of any sort? 2. We can potentially get tens of thousands of links from this concept, all with duplicate content around them, but from PR3-6 sites, some with lots of authority. What will affect our site more - the quantity of mediocre links (good) or the duplicate content around them (bad)? 3. Should we sacrifice SEO for a good business idea?

Adwords Policy and SEO
I have a customer who runs campaigns on adwords and we have had real problems with his ads being taken down due to certain ingredients being present in supplements. Now we move towards his SEO campaign and we wondered if the natural listings are effected by sites that list banned substances or pages listed on the adwords policy as being banned ? Has anyone experienced a site being downgraded by link being present from sites that provided products or services that are banned from being advertised on Google adwords ?
