Anyone using Adobe Business Catalyst and Fixing SEO URL Blog Updates?
-
Does anyone else have experience with the current update Adobe Business Catalyst has announced for their blog features?
Florin at BC offered the code below:
http://www.graeagle.com/images/fb_blog_og_img.jpg" />
However nether myself nor another commentator can figure out how to make it work:
I added the meta data to my template but it seems the tags are not correct. For example, the tag {tag_blogpostmetatitle} does not automatically include the SEO title that I've called out in my individual blog post. So, it appears the browser is ignoring the tag and just including it as is. When I view the source for my live blog article, this is what I get for the lines that I've added the code in the tag:
Also, I cannot get schema metadata to work on the BC blog. For example, I have used it on this page: http://www.homedestination.com/_blog/Real_Estate_Blog/post/things_to_know_before_building_a_new_home/; which yields the following in Google's Rich Snippet Tool:
Extracted structured data rdfa-node property: title: {tag_blogpostmetatitle} description:__{tag_blogpostmetadescription}

Scott,
I am wondering how your ABC + WP results came in. Would you have an update on you're experience?
-
Thanks so much for the fast response - and thorough, as well!
Unfortunately, my prospective client has been using ABC for a year, and has dozens of blog posts, so it sounds like I'll have some fun to work through!
I don't have an opinion yet on using ABC + WP, but I will shortly! Feel free to reach out any time to share experiences or questions (I follow this post, so I'll see it!) Thanks again!

Hi Scott,
It has taken nearly three months for many blog posts to re-index. I find Adobe Business Catalyst is working on ironing out the wrinkles in their blog updates and are certainly at a better end already. If you start now, you should miss all the URL redirects that have been required to update all blog posts with their structured improvements. I think they are getting closer to being a real competitor to a WordPress blog.
Also, I have had to follow Google Analytics very close to handle problems with Duplicate meta descriptions.
For example, many read like this:
http://www.homedestination.com/real-estate-blog/twin-cities-traditional-home-sales-up/
http://www.homedestination.com/real-estate-blog/twin-cities-traditional-home-sales-uphttp://www.homedestination.com/real-estate-blog/twin_cities_traditional_home_sales_upThat said. do you think it is better to use Adobe Business Catalyst for the main site and combine it with a WordPress blog?

Hey, jessential - it looks like this post has had numerous views, but no responses. Were you able to figure out anything? I have a potential client who uses ABC, and I'm trying to figure out what kinds of issues I may run into. Thanks in advance!

.aspx 301 redirects on Business Catalyst
Hi I am have moved my website from .aspx to business catalyst. I have found out (when the site already migrated!) that Business Catalyst does not support .aspx 301 redirects. On a previous post from 2012 (https://moz.com/community/q/aspx-files-will-simply-not-work-as-redirects) , someone has recommended a java script re direct. I have tried this but google search console is classing this as a 404 resulting in no link juice and my website dropping pages on google. I have tried to do 301 redirects at my server level but wont work. Anyone know a solution? Thanks in advance Keith

Guys & Gals anyone know if urllist.txt is still used?
I'm using a tool which generates urllist.txt and looking on the SEO Forums it seems that Yahoo used to use this. What I'd like to know is is it still used anywhere and should we have it on the site?

Small blog needs paid SEO help
I looked at Moz's recommended companies but they are all for huge blogs and websites. I cannot afford those fees. My blog is small but growing and was hit by a Google Panda tweak back in July. My organic traffic disappeared overnight and although I've been working hard to improve my blog, I still get no organic traffic after being on the first page. I would like to pay someone to look at my site and give me help but I cannot pay what these huge companies are asking for. Any advice?

URL rewrite question
I have adjusted a setting in my CMS and the URL's have changed from http://www.ensorbuilding.com/section.php/43/1/firestone-epdm-rubbercover-flat-roofing to http://www.ensorbuilding.com/section/43/1/firestone-epdm-rubbercover-flat-roofing This has changed all the URL's on the website not just this example. As you can see , the .php extension has now been removed but people can still access the .php version of the page. What I want is a site-wide 301 redirect but can not figure out how to implement it? Any help is appreciated 🙂 Thanks

Has anyone worked with Edgecast?
They have a caching system where they assign multiple ip's based on location and we are curious how it affects SEO.
