Our site dropped in PR and we haven't done anything and not sure why the drop. Anyone have any recommendations?
-
Thank you everyone for the suggestions! I will reoptomize the content and start link building. I was looking at the directory list here but most of them are complete garbage! Any recommendations?

These guys are absolutely correct. I will add that a few minor details -
I would venture to guess you saw your SERPs and PR drop sometime around mid-March, correct? This is how I know that:
http://gyazo.com/11563b72dfe2acc0133b6053cbe36fa4.png?1366837791
Look at that spike... about half of your total links were added in a matter of a few days. That's a huge red flag and Penguin will snatch that up like... whatever penguins eat. (?)
That said, you have very few links in the first place coming to your site leaving little to no opportunity to build PR. Start link building! Avoid black hat. Keep reading these forums and the SEO beginners guide here. Optimize your pages. Start a blog. Figure out what penguins eat. Do it up! For whatever reason the links you have all come from just a few select domains. Get more domains with less links from each. When Google sees 600 links coming from the same domain they get all frowny-faced.
These are but a few tips to help you. Good luck, and have fun! SEO is supposed to be fun! (no it isn't, but I think it is.)

You don't have any links from high authority sites. Focus on getting good links, and your PageRank will go up.

Looking at your profile, looks like you built a bunch of spammy links. If you had PR previously, then you were probably hit with a penalty. Check your GWT for a letter.
I recommend doing some serious link removal.

Can’t put a finger on, what is causing 12 year domain, SEO optimized and decent link profile to rank lower than other less superior domains.
Can’t put a finger on, what is causing 12 year domain, SEO optimized and decent link profile to rank lower than other less superior domains. I have dissected the site and link, content, etc profile using ahrefs tools, still no luck, and unfortunately they do not have a community to ask anyone opinion. Hoping someone on Moz will be able to provide me with a secondary opinion or something I obviously missing here. Looking for any constructive feedback/professional opinion with fresh look on what maybe the cause of our down rankings and what may be a cause of it. Any feedback is very much appreciated. Is there an advantage to using rel=canonical rather than noindex on pages on my mobile site (m.company.com)?
Is there an advantage to using link rel=alternate (as recommended by Google) rather than noindex on pages on my mobile site (m.company.com)? The content on the mobile pages is very similar to the content on the desktop site. I see Google recommends canonical and alternate tags, but what are the benefits of using those rather than noindex?

Should I have app deep links from by m.example.com site?
Hello Mozzers I had one small question to ask regarding app deep linking. I noticed websites ike http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ & http://www.trulia.com/ only include app deep links within desktop (www) versions of their websites but not include them on their mobile (m.) versions. Is this the best way to implement app deep links? Shouldn't websites include app deep links from both mobile and desktop versions of their website. Any help or tips will be highly appreciated. Thank you mozzers in advance.

Making unresponsive site responsive, should I expect any ranking penalties?
Hello, I have a website made with asp.net and ranking quite well for a number of competitive keywords like in google top 10 results for more than a dozen competitive keywords. Recently in order for better user experience, I am having it developed so it is fully responsive for all screen resolutions. Basically all the design element / site text will remain the same including color scheme / layout etc outwardly but internally this will change everything all the css / page html (tables converted to divs) etc. Now my question is: 1. Will this considered by bots a complete site overhaul and ranking will take a hit even if I stay with current platform i.e. asp.net? 2. While making design responsive I can also develop a wordpress theme, which will make it easier to work with the website as the site does not require any programming. So if I also change the platform like from MS IIS/asp to Apache / php how will search engine bots take this? 3. If above in fact will result in ranking drop, how much time will it take for the rankings to get back to normal? Note that I use extensionless urls so the urls will remain the same as well even if we convert from asp to php. Sorry for long details but question is bugging me from weeks.

REPOST: How much does "overall site semantic theme" influence rankings?
Hello everyone on the new cool Moz! I've optimized sites before that are dedicated to 1, 2 or 3 products and or services. These sites inherently talk about one main thing - so the semantics of the content across the whole site reflect this. I get these ranked well on a local level. Now, take an e-commerce site - which I am working on - 2000 products, all of which are quite varied - cookware, diningware, art, decor, outdoor, appliances... there is a lot of different semantics throughout the site's different pages. Does this influence the ranking possibilities? Your opinion and time is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
