My Twitter Username was CHANGED by Twitter!

My twitter user name australia was changed by twitter to Australia1_
My original user name has been given to Toursim Australia.
I never saw any correspondence about this from Twitter (I may have deleted it), nor from Tourism Australia.
I have managed to send 2 related support requests to twitter;
Once explaining I couldn't log in - and their reply was;
"The email address you're writing from does not match the email on this account. For privacy reasons, we can't offer any more information about the email."
Second time that my account was suspended - they replied;
"If you're writing in about Australia1_ being suspended, this account is not currently suspended"
I don't believe this can be a trademark issue because you cannot trademark a place name.
I would love an explanation from twitter-
Any tips?

Well, all they do is switch the names of the accounts. I'm not sure what Tourism Australia's username was before, but Twitter switched their username over to australia and that way Tourism Australia's followers and tweets transferred over automatically. And since Tourism Australia's username is now australia, which was previously your username, then that means your account had to be moved to a new username which in this case turns out to be Australia1_. Unfortunately I don't think there's much you can do about it at this point.

I have logged in and was asked to change passwords... but, no - I wasn't very active with it.
However, if they took it because of inactivity - why did they give me a replacement username?
-
I'm assuming the account was transferred over to Tourism Australia since the account had not tweeted in over a year https://twitter.com/Australia1_. I'm not sure what Twitter's "official" policy is when it comes to handing over usernames, but I've been successful requesting access to inactive accounts in the past. Twitter frowns upon "username squatting" so it's not surprising they turned the account over to someone who would actually use it.

Facebook Name Change and Effect on SEO
Hey Mozzers! Trying this one again as my timing was probably pretty bad with Easter. Working with a company who has about 20K followers on Facebook and about 500 backlinks to their current facebook page. They want to change the name of the page to better reflect the business. I need to advise on this but I'm not sure of and how it will effect them. Any one had any experience in this area?

Twitter Username: Keyword or Company Name?
Hello everybody! I'm in doubt with which one is the best: To have a Twitter profile name with: 1)the company's name.
Social Media | | seomasterbrasil
Of course it's good for branding, but it's a B2B, industrial market. 2)a relevant keyword.
Will it bring traffic, considering that is a B2B, that works different. The question is: does Google gives relevance to username with keyword in it? If yes, have it a great value, or should I use the company name? Thanks! =]0 -
Multiple twitter accounts for Different countries...
Ok, so we currently operate in the UK, Australia, Ireland, Spain and France. Currently we have a different twitter accounts for each Country. This can be difficult to manage as we are going it all from the UK. I can understand that having separate accounts for foreign language countries is perhaps suitable (we have foreign staff tweeting in their native tongue), but my question is this: Is it worth just tweeting all English speaking activity from one account. I mean at the end of the day we are one company, and also our activity in other countries won't effect our followers, in fact wouldn't it just make them realise we are a global brand? What are the advantages and disadvantages of gradually deleting the other accounts and tweeting all English stuff from the one account? Cheers,

Tool/Method to find users on Twitter from a CSV file
I'm attempting to find users to follow and receive reciprocal follows for a client on twitter. Through the company's newsletter database, I have a CSV file of somewhere in the range of 20,000 email addresses and names. I've been importing them 250 at a time into an empty Gmail account then connecting that with twitter each time to find some of them. However, a lot of the PEOPLE using the email addresses on the mailing list are not on twitter but their COMPANY is. To find the company, I can obviously drop the name@ part of the email and just search by the domain but this becomes tedious real quick since it has to be one by one and cannot be bulk imported/searched. Are there any tools/ideas out there to more easily find twitter users based on a larger set of keywords and/or domain names?

Permanent URLs for Twitter?
Hi everyone - The site I am working on is going to start giving users the option to tweet that they completed an action. It reads, for example, "I just took the first step to ( ) with (site): (shortened link) via (Twitter name)" Here's my question: Should I worry about the fact that the shortened URL (we're possibly going to use Twitter's shortener T.Co, but I'm not dedicated to it) changes each time? Should we instead have a permanent short URL for the homepage (where we are going to direct people who click the link in the tweet)? Thanks!
