Including key words in alt image attributes - stuffing etc?
-
I'm pretty new to all this but seem to have been getting good result by adjusting our sit to meet the seomoz on page analysis factors.
I'm currently adjusting the alt image attributes for this page:
The copy I'm writing is aimed at targeting "luxury marquee hire".
It's quite hard to get the keyword into a readable image attribute which properly relates to the image. So my question is if I add say " | Luxury Marquee" onto the end of each image attribute would this get penalised and seen as keyword stuffing or something like that?
My image attributes would be:
Cocktail bar inside Giant Tipi at night | Luxury Marquee HireLive Band on stage | Luxury Marquee Hire
and so on.
Thanks!!!!

I agree - when adding 'alt tags' it is essential to describe the image and not stuff for keywords. Typically I will work my keyword into my description if it doesn't look spammy. For example, If I am working on a fence companies website and they have a page dedicated to "city fence" I will make the alt tag "privacy 'city' fence | 6ft pickets " or something to that extent.

The way you have done the alt attributes for the images at the bottom of the homepage is correct. Don't stuff keywords into your alt tags because you will gain nothing from it. Try get a keyword into your image alt tag but it is more important that the description matches the image.

Are slides how's etc the new Splash Pages?
I just did SEO audits of approx 50 websites in the tourism sector. Nearly all had poor Google Pagespeed ratings, partly down to that, among other factors. I also feel that slideshows,, large images and videos in headers are poor for usability. I say get the content people need to engage with in front of them asap Are there any stats or studies that can provide insight on this? I've been telling those with these designs to keep an eye on bounce rates and let that guide them

Why Is Google Showing My Images Upside Down in the Index?
Hi, My client has PDFs of their catalog on the site which google is indexing. However, it seems that google is taking an image from the catalog and then showing it upside in the index for images/search results. The images are not upside down on the site. Has anyone heard of this happening before or does anyone know a way to fix it? Thanks

Woocommerce SEO and Product attributes
Hi friends! I have a question that is advanced Woocommerce and seo-related.
Web Design | | JustinMurray
I'm seeing http://www.mywebsitex.com/pa_keyword/indexed in Google, but it cannot be properly optimized, and I would prefer to have a WordPress Page indexed for that keyword instead, which also lists those products and can be fully seo optimized. Woocommerce SEO plugin by Yoast lacks documentation and I have no clue if that would even fix this. I do have the Taxonomy (pa_keyword) set to not include these in the sitemap, but there doesn't seem to be a way to noindex/nofollow product attributes.
1. How can I best accomplish this?
2. Why are product attributes indexed by default?0 -
Facebook is now only allowing owners of FB pages (not admins) to create keys for a WP blog post syndication. Is there a way around this?
I hired a contractor to configure a WP plugin to syndicate FB, G+, Twitter and standard WP posts. He is using NextScripts: Social Networks Auto-Poster. He came back to me saying that FB is now only allowing direct owners (not admins) of FB pages to create keys. This means I have to give my client's personal FB access to a third party contractor. I'm not comfortable asking my client to do this. Does anybody know of a way around this? Is there a way to create a FB key with just admin access? Thanks

We have alot of refurbished items, surplus items etc. How should we list them?
Our E-Commerce company has an abundance of surplus items, refurbished items etc. from returns. It isn't worth spending any time making the product listings, but it would be nice to sell them from our site. I'm worried that in creating these almost "empty" product listings Google will view these pages all as duplicate pages, or pages without unique content because they will really just be an empty, standardized page on the cart with limited text. Even though in reality for customers looking for deals they are very useful pages to get deals, any tips on how to do this? (We can't justify creating unique pages because most of the offers are "one offs" where once we sell one product we are done with that listing.)

Am I on the right track -- still not seeing results in rank, traffic, etc.
I am a complete novice, but I tend to learn quickly. My site is one year old, and I have very low traffic. I also rank poorly. I have recently learned a ton, and made some changes: 1. Put in meta no follow, no index tags on certain pages 2. Found and fixed some horrid content -- I had forgotten to finish certain pages (!) and they had been left up for months -- a good example is /California-homeschool.html basically said "Washington homeschool, blah, blah, blah" for about 8 months before I fixed it (!) 3. Added new content, changed the look and navigation of the site, added social media links and have been working to build those up (FB, Twitter, etc) 4. Started blogging regularly. Those are the main things I have done. I plan to continue to add content, tweak the navigation, and blog regularly. From what I can tell, link building should happen organically. My question is: Am I on the right track? Here is a link to my site: http://www.i-school-at-home.com Am I missing anything -- there seems to be so much info out there. Because there is a time lag between making changes and seeing results, I just would love to know if I am on the right track, before I devote more time to this strategy. What I would like to do is be the #1 homeschool website (long term goal) and generate revenue (eventually) from affiliate marketing and creating my own curriculum and resources. Thank you!!!!!!

Alt attribute in .ashx file.
Hi, I'm currently in charge of the SEO for a website. When I look at the source of the webpages on my internet browser, most of the images are in .ashx and no alt attribute is related to the image itself. However, when I go in my CMS, the alt attribute is clearly written for all my images. Does it mean that search engines won't take in consideration the alt attribute of my .ashx files. Is there a way to have alt attribute showing for .ashx files ? Thank you in advance JL

Can including advertising slots have a negative effect on SEO?
Can including advertising slots at the top and side of pages have a negative effect on SEO? Can Google detect these advertising slots? Can they work our advertising pixels to page content pixels ratio? Any ideas, suggestions, comments and opinions are greatly appreciated!
