Something I'm missing META Description
-
When using the SEOMoz on page analysis for "luxury marquee hire" on www.katalysticevents.com it's telling me I have no meta description but my source code includes the following:
Line 94 <meta property="<a class="attribute-value">og:description</a>" content="<a class="attribute-value">Katalystic Events - Luxury Marquee Hire</a>" /> Being a real newbie am I missing something here? I've included the info uploaded form my wordpress CMS, why is SEOmoz not picking this meta description up?

Edward
The Moz software is correct (per my comment below). Your current tag is the facebook open graph description. Use the Yoast SEO plugin to add meta descriptions to your pages.

Hi Edward
The tag you're seeing is the facebook open graph description. This is only for facebook and not the same as a regular meta description for search engines.
I would suggest installing the Yoast SEO for WordPress plugin, which will add meta descriptions to your site for you.
Some WordPress SEO basics here in my article.

Hi Edward,
Looking at your source, I don't see what you mention on line 94, I don't actually see any kind of meta description tag, so that is certainly something you should address.
What Mike suggests appears correct (I have never actually tested combining open graph and meta description tags). That being said, I think your issue is more a question of setup.
Assuming that the plugin you are using allows setup of both the meta description tag and the open graph description then just use them both. Doubling up is fine although they are two different things really, meta description mainly used in serp results, og tags when you share the url on facebook so there might be times you would like them to be slightly different anyway.

Thanks Mike, I'm still unclear whether this is an issue with the way SEOmoz analyse my site and whether what I currently have will still be fine for search engine purposes or if it's something I need to get sorted?

From what I understand, when combining open graph protocol and meta description it needs to look like
name="description" property="og:description" content="My meta description copy."/>

Meta Robots query
Hi guys, I was ranking really well on my home page for certain keywords which has all dropped pretty dramatically over the last 3/4 weeks - I think the issue is since since the configuration of Yoast SEO Wordpress plugin. In March (when my rankings were strong) my crawl test showed the top data in the attached image, and in May (now the rankings have dropped severly) they show the bottom data. I don't fully understand canonical and Meta Robots so I am hoping someone can shed some light on the following points. 1. Will the change result in my loss of rankings.

2. How can I put it back to how it was in March? PS. I haven't had any Google penalties. Thanks,

Is there a tool to crawl website meta tags to locate any in an incorrect language?
Example: I'm interested in crawling a regional site for Brazil to find any meta tags that are still in English with the goal being to fix any localization issues.

Aren't domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ the same thing?
Hi All, A recent Moz scan has turned up quite a few duplicate content notifications, all of which have the same issue. For instance: domain.com/page and domain.com/page/ are listed as duplicates, but I was under the impression that these pages would, in fact, be the same page. Is this even something to bother fixing or a fluke scan? If I should fix it does anyone know of an .htaccess modification that might be used? Thanks!

SEOmoz report vs. Google's Algo
Hello, I got an SEOmoz Report for one of our clients and the report is showing these pages and many more others as duplicate page content. Thing is the page content is not duplicate however there is very little data differentiating the contents. My question is does Google see the following pages contents as duplicate? because seomoz does. http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/06/using-a-loft-for-commercial-or-office-space.html/img_9632/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/08/newly-renovated-in-victory-park.html/3-2/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/08/pedestrian-friendly-uptown-west-village.html/attachment/18/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/06/using-a-loft-for-commercial-or-office-space.html/img_4322/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/08/historic-deep-ellum-lofts.html/2012-08-18-11-24-30/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/08/pedestrian-friendly-uptown-west-village.html/attachment/13/ http://dallastxlofts.com/blog/2012/06/using-a-loft-for-commercial-or-office-space.html/842-4/

SEOmoz v's Google Webmaster Keyword Ranking
Hi, how accurate is SEOmoz keyword ranking v's Google Webmaster? Some Keywords in SEOmoz say I'm in position 3 in Ireland for some Keywords and in Google Webmaster they are figures like 16. I understand in Google Webmaster that the keyword position is an Average What should I be going by and what is the credibility of both ranking estimators?

If my keywords aren't driving any traffic to my site, why am I still ranking for them?
In several of our campaigns we have watched our keywords steadily climb the rankings without ever registering so much as a blip in the traffic data column. If these keywords aren't driving any traffic to our site, how are we still ranking for them?

Crawl Diagnostics and missing meta tags on noindex blog pages
Hi Guys/Gals We do love the Crawl Diagnostics, but do find the missing meta tags ("Missing Meta Description" Tag in this case) somewhat spammy. We use the "All in One SEO Pack" for our blog and it does stick in noindex, follow (as it should) on the pages that is of no use to us. "2008/04/page/2/" and the likes. Maybe I'm wrong but should the Diagnostics tool not respect the noindex tag and just ignore any warnings, since it should really mean that these pages are NOT included in the search index. Meaning that the other meta tags are really useless. Any thoughts?

Missing back links in Open Site Explorer?
I'm looking at the Open Site Explorer for my site, and it shows 9 links to my site, all from 2 domains (showing all links from all pages and for both www and not www version of my domain name). But I know for sure that there are other sites linking to my site. Are they not there because they are not important or because the links have not been crawled yet?
