How do search engines understand what social pages are official pages of my brand? If my Facebook page name is not my brand name (even though there are links from website to page and vice-versa) will that confuse search engines?
-
My question is about social shares, and how search engines understand what profiles are linked to what businesses?

Thanks everyone,
Christine...we have links follow links directed to our Facebook, Twitter and Google + accounts, however it seems as if you can not verify these accounts without having a "name-brand" or hundreds of thousands of followers. Our main issue is that Open Site Explorer has our Facebook follower count at 2, instead of the actual 800 we have. We believe social followers, shares and other interactions are a large part of SEO and would like to figure out how to get accurate reads on our social accounts.

Hi Kevin,
You should verify your Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and GPlus pages and accounts to link them to your website. You should also link your GPlus page to all of your other social profiles and pages. Finally, you can go to Bing and tag your pages.
Thanks,

With Google+, you have to link your social profile to your site using a meta tag (rel=publisher) so that's a pretty unambiguous signal that the social profile belongs to your brand.
I don't think Google really looks at your activities on other social platforms to determine rankings, but it can probably figure out which properties belong to you by looking at what profiles your site links to. You can also add the profiles to your sites section in Google+.
If someone is squatting your trademarked brand name on Facebook, you can contact them and have the name transferred to you.

Facebook Contests
Hey Moz Community, I've been reading some articles that Facebook no longer likes if Business Pages run contests on their Pages. I was thinking about doing something super simple with a "Like, Comment, and Share" type of an entry. Does anyone know if this is still allowed - I can't seem to find a concrete answer. Even the guidelines for Facebook seem a bit vague. I could always take the contest offline and use a landing page on my website to generate traffic but that also doesn't help with my social following. Thoughts, insights all welcome. Thanks!

How to regain Facebook Page Authority - For page badly affected with spam users
Case- company Facebook page has more than 10K users and almost 50% are spam. When this happens, edge rank of the page is badly affected (because spam users are not interested in your shared content so they hide you/remove you from feed and of course never engage). Not to mention Facebook released an update end of 2014 where page will have less visibility anyway compared to user updates. Overall the Page updates get very less exposure / impressions Now only solution is to remove this huge no of spam users one by one or by an API. Question - Does removing the spam users regain the authority of the page ? Does that solve the overall issue ? What are the other solution to fix the situation ? Thanks.

Improving the reach on facebook
I guess a lot of people have this problem... And it really sucks, especially when you generate your money from adsense. So I have the site that has a lot food recipes in Lithuanian. Mostly indexed pretty good by Google. But still a lot of older women come from facebook and click on ads. (woohoo for them). So far I have 50000+ fans. Third biggest food recipe community in Lithuania on facebook, all fans came themselves, never bought them, never cheated somehow.

The biggest community don't get any reach at all - like 1 or 2 likes on every post. They got everything by cheating, sending spam and so on. OK who cares about them anyway? So the problem is that my reach started dropping. My posts reach only 2000-5000 fans and it is not enough for me. I tried to post time when I post and so on - does not really help. I make like 2-5 posts per day with new recipes or very very old recipes (like posts that were not posted for 2 years to remind that they exist). Sometimes I say post something and write "if you like chicken click Like" or if you like fish share with your friends. It helps a lot - people really click on those more and the reach increases. But if I would start asking for these likes every single time three or five times a day, it would look f*cking stupid. So I need all your tips or links to great articles that would help me if that is possible. Thanks 😉0 -

Facebook Account Architectures (Pages, Groups, etc)
I'm looking for help with how to setup/manage a community on Facebook. Here is the scenario: You have a bike store owner. Out of the store he also organizes different biking training groups, for people who want to be able to meet certain personal goals. These groups like to interact with the other members inside their groups, but not across groups. Does the following architecture make sense? The business would have 1 Company Page. Then for for various different training groups, the company admin would create Facebook 'Groups' which allow for interaction amongst members that way. Does that make sense? Or is there a smarter way to do this? It seems like this isn't very unified, because there could be a bunch of different groups. Is there a way to set this up inside the business' page itself? Any other thoughts?

Any recommendations for Social Media Submission
I came across a company one time that would sign you up and submit your username to all the social media sites. Seems like it was "knowit" or something like that. Anyway Does any one have an recommendations on companies to submit to sites instead of having to do each one individually. Thanks, Utah Tiger
