Fastest Way To Remove Footer Link? (post-Panda)
-
Hello,
I have a website with 1k+ links pointed directly to an inner page and home page from blogspot domains. There are 3 links in the footer that points to different locations.
1st anchor text points to the person who designed the page template and links to their website (this doesn't affect us)
2nd anchor text uses a direct keyword that I am trying to rank for and links to the inner page.
3rd anchor text uses my website name and links to the home page
I know that these are not good links and the content inside the pages are irrelevant to my own website. The links are embedded into the template on the footer and is site wide.I have already contacted the designer and have the links removed but those that have downloaded the templates still have the footer link.
What would be the best way to remove all these footer links? Trying to contact each individual person who is using the template is not working out as most have not responded and some of the websites have not seen an update in years! Any thoughts?
If you need additional information feel free to send me a direct message so I can send you an exact link.

Unfortuneatly you're in a pickle, and there aren't many good solutions.
The first thing I would ask is if you are sure these links are hurting you. Even though they may be 'bad', it's possible Google doesn't see them that way and has passed no filter or penalty.
If you determine the links are bad then basically, your options are:
- Removal
- Disavow
- 404 or 410 the URL
It's true you need to be careful when using the disavow, but if you've been hit by a penalty or think you've been hit by Penguin and have exhausted all other option, it's generally your best bet.
Cheers, Cyrus

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I am really at a lost here and need help on this issue.

Thank you but the inner pages that are affected by these 1k+ links also have tons of good links that are pointed to it. These are blog postings dating back from 1-2 years ago from relevant websites. I fear that if I change the url and try to contact the webmaster for the "good" links to point to the new url that they will not be around.
Is there any way I can change the URL and have all incoming links get redirected to the new URL but excludes the redirection from specific domains? I do not want to ban the domains, just make them not 301 to the new URL for the inner pages.

I have tried sending out e-mails to all parties but have not receive a response yet. Some of the websites are more than a year old with no new updates.
I am fearful of using the disavow tool because oft this - http://www.e2msolutions.com/blog/why-should-you-not-think-about-disavowing-links-the-alternates-are-here/
Any other ideas on how I can remove these links?

If the inner page only has these links pointed at it, and a considerable number, you might consider recreating the page with a new url, manually outreaching to webmasters to re-point natural, editorial links.
It's difficult to shake these types of links, and so far disavow, at face value, doesn't seem to be the answer in my opinion.

You could try and exact match query search ( using " ) and try individually contacting all parties , if that does not sound like a feasible option you might want to consider using the link disavow tool

Did Google Ignore My Links?
Hello, I'm a little new to SEO, but I recently was featured (around 2 yrs ago) on some MAJOR tech blogs. For some reason however, my links aren't getting picked up for over 2 years - not even in MOZ, or other link checker services. - By now I should have had amazing boost from this natural building, but not sure what happened? This was completely white hat and natural links. The links were after the article was created though, would this effect things? - Please let me know if you have any advice! - Maybe I need to ping these some how or something? - Are these worthless? Thanks so much for your help! Here's some samples of the links that were naturally given to http://VaultFeed.com http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2013/09/13/microsoft-posts-cringe-worthy-windows-phone-video-ads-mocking-apple/ http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/15/4733176/microsoft-says-pulled-iphone-parody-ads-were-off-the-mark http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/09/16/microsoft_mocks_apple_in_vids_it_quickly_pulls/ http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2420710/Microsoft-forced-delete-cringe-worthy-spoof-videos-mocking-new-range-iPhones.html And a LOT more... Not sure if these links will never be valid, or maybe I'm doing something completely wrong? - Is there any way for Google to recognize these now, and then they'll be seen by MOZ and other sites too? I've done a LOT of searching and there's no definitive advice I've seen for links that were added after the URL was first indexed by Google.

Remove unwanted web pages
Hi All, I have a number of web pages that yield little or no traffic. I have analysed the traffic data in both normal SERPs and Google Adwords over a year. All low traffic pages rank on the first page.

Redirecting these poor performing pages to the main content page would provide the user with a richer experience. Why do I need to remove these pages?
Cost, time and duplicate content issues is causing untold problems.
Removing the existance of the low/no traffic pages will allow me to provide fresh content on the main content pages. Question
Each main content page has about 20 low/no traffic pages associated with it.
I have about 30 instances of the main page scenario. Would carrying htacces page redirects hurt my ranking or worse? Regards Mark0 -
Site wide internal links in footer
I have had a long discussion with a client and their external SEO partner about their current footer. They have added all their product categories, both main and sub, to the footer. From a pure SEO perspective is it still advisable, after all the pandas and penguines, to stay away from keyword important site wide footer linking to internal pages? As the links will become a repeatable element and also containing the most important keywords, isn't the links actually hurting more than helping? With 5000 index pages, it will risk "marking" the most important keywords as repeatable, lowering ranking, instead of increasing as their external part say.

Guest posts/article marketing can be considered as paid posts by SEs?
Hi, Guest posting/article Marketing is a major part of our link building strategy. Normally we get one or two links for our site and one or two links to other authority sites(relevant). Some time author bio is not published with article or even not mention that this is a guest post. ( I know that we get just link and missed the other advantages of guest if author bio isn't mention) Is this a good practice especially when some posts are published on low quality blogs? SEs can be considered these as paid posts? What will be the better way to do this? Thanks Alex

How can scraper sites be successful post Panda?
I read this article on SEJ: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/scrapers-and-the-panda-update/34192/ And, I'm a bit confused as to how a scraper site can be successful post Panda? Didn't panda specifically target sites that have duplicate content & shouldn't scraper sites actually be suffering?
