Onsite Search Engine
-
Hi,
We have a search engine on our website. Whenever a user searches on our site it goes to subdomain - search.mysite.com. This domain is not hosted by us, is this negatively affecting our SEO?
Does google interpret this as a bounce since a user is technically leaving our site to search for something?
Are there any other ramifications this would have on our site?
Thanks!

Firstly, I'm unclear as to where the subdomain lives - you say it's hosted by someone else, but then use "mysite.com" as the example. If I understand you, it's hosted by someone else, but lives on your domain - is that right?
If you don't have the same Google analytics code on the search pages, it will look like a user disappears, leaving the site, then potentially coming back. You can check this by viewing the source and looking for your GA code on any search page. This is purely a data and analytics issue, not a search optimization issue.
As far as SEO is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the functionality of your site depends heavily on searching. You should probably block any search pages in robots.txt anyway, as for most sites they add no value. If your site works exclusively with search, you might need to find a new solution.

To add the domain name would help for analytics. Does it show google that users aren't leaving the site?
-
I believe if a user lands on a page on mysite.com and doesn't visit any other page on this domain, and then clicks a link to search.mysite.com, then this would count as a bounce unless you set search.mysite.com to be in the same Analytics profile.
-
I'm not so sure what you mean, are you saying that it is counted as a bounce to the site if google analytics doesn't treat this this subdomain as part of the site?
-
Yep, it is likely counted unless Google Analytics is treating the subdomain as part of your main site. If session information isn't being passed, Google would not know.

Hide sitelinks from Google search results
Does anyone have any recommendations on how you can tell Google (hopefully via a URL) not to index that page of a website? I have tried through SEO Yoast to hide certain sitemaps (which has worked to a degree) but certain functionalities of Wordpress websites show links without them actually being part of a "sitemap" so those links are harder to hide. I'm having an issue with one of my websites - the sitelinks that Google is suggesting are nowhere near the most popular pages and I know that you can't make recommendations through Google not to show certain pages through Search Console. anymore. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The site in question was hacked years ago. All the security scans come up clean but the seo crawlers like semrush and ahrefs still show it as an indexed page. I can even click through on it and it takes me to the homepage with no 301. Where is the page and how to deindex it? domain/com/?spam There are multiple instances of this. http://www.clipular.com/c/5579083284217856.png?k=Q173VG9pkRrxBl0b5prNqIozPZI

Big Increase in 404 Errors after Google Custom Search Engine Install on Website
My URL is: http://www.furniturefashion.comHi forum.I recently installed a Custom Google Search Engine (https://www.google.com/cse/) on my blog about ten days ago. Since then my 404 errors in Webmaster Tools has skyrocketed by several thousand. I had not had an issue before. Once it was installed the 404 errors started appearing. What's interesting is that all the errors have the URL then the word "undefined" at the end. I have attached a screen shot from my Webmaster Tools dashboard. Also, there are a few examples below of what the URLs are that have the 404 errors.wood_closet_organizer_to_improve_space_utilization/undefinedsmall-sweet-10-inspiring-small-kitchen-designs/undefined Has anyone had this issue? I very much want the search engine on my site, but not at the expense of several thousand 404 errors. My site queries has been going down since the installation of the custom search engine. One Page - Targeting Multiple Low Searched Keywords.
Hi, First "Question" on SEOmoz, A client has requested me to have all the traffic going to the main/home page. In total its 25 Keywords and competition is pretty low, lets say "Builder In City", all the keywords are the sames except for the citys. "Builder In London" "Builder in Birmingham" Builder in Cardiff" .. and so on. Will it be ok and do-able to target 1 homepage with 25 keywords and expect decent results.
