Any Good Study on the Effects of CTR on Keyword Capitalization in SERP Description
-
Hey Guys
I am wondering if any of you have done any study or testing on this ( or perhaps you might have come across one at some point in your career )
Personally I feel that while adding a description , it makes sense to Capitalize the Keywords and other words ( first letter only ) that I want to emphasise on ( perhaps stuff like Buy, High Quality, Best, etc ) . I want to pick your brains on this and see what you guys think about it. I have not tested the effects on CTR yet .. if someone else has then it will be a good resource for me to go through. ( and if no one else has done any relevant study I might do it at some stage ).
Regards
Saijo

I think it's OK either way. If you take a look, on Google News even the big players have their own rules about titling.
As you can see, ABC News uses "The World Is Getting More Corrupt, and These Are the 5 Worst Offenders" while USA Today or La Times prefer: "DUI case collapses in Nevada crash that killed 5".

I agree with the statement about the 1st one too but what if it were a choice between these two ?
Fish oils may raise prostate cancer risks, study confirms
**vs **
Fish Oils may raise Prostate Cancer risks, Study Confirms

Hi Chris
I see what you did there and I am certainly against using it that way.
I was think more along the lines of
The answer Is easy enough--do an A/B Test on some of your pages and see what Result You Get. I'd love to know Your Results.

Hi Saijo,
it really depends about the user. Some might like seeing the capitalized thingy while others might see it as spammy/untrustworthy to click on (me included).
Secondly, also matters what's in that title, which is the transmitted message.
For example, there is a huge difference between:
Fish oils may raise prostate cancer risks, study confirms
and
The Best Prostate Cancer Treatment, Click Here and BUY NOW!!!
This whole thing whit "the best" "leading company", "Buy Now" etc in my opinion is so 2000-ish and looks spammy as hell. I mean, who certifies that a company or other is "leading"? We can say about Google that is a leading company in it's niche, but not about some obscure plumber company nobody heard of.
In a nutshell, I'd use the first title variation because my bet are educated people who can think for themselves not the ones that click anywhere if I tell them so.

My Guess Is That For Every One Conversion You Get With That, You Loose One Plus Something. I Think That Capitals In The Title Is Something That We've All Learned To Live With But We Really Don't Need Any More. It's Like Are They Screaming At Me Or Are They Just Trying To Scream But Holding Their Tongue?
The Answer Is Easy Enough--Do An A/B Test On Some Of Your Pages And See What Result You Get. I'd Love To Know Your Results.

Does the title attribute affect CTR?
I've been trying to find some research or studies regarding the title attribute on links and if it affects CTR or perhaps another benefit to using it. I know that it's not a factor in search engines and there's some problems with the compatibility of it in various devices and browsers, but looking for any stats that show using could affect your CTR. Would love some actual studies versus opinions, but haven't found any.

How to Track Keywords Locally?
Does anyone know how to track keyword rankings locally? Like, if I want to track the ranking for "pizza" for people who search that in our local area? Thanks!

Clicking on SERPs
I've spoken to 2 people in the past few weeks, who have clients who search for their keywords every day, and then click on their own links, but not others, in the belief that this is good for their website ranking. Google does track clicks with redirects, so I can understand that they would know someone searched for a term, and they clicked on a result. I could understand if it was once per month, but doing it every day? And if they keep coming back, to search for other keywords and click on those results too. Looks like they would just paint a very large target on themselves. What's your opinion?

BT Buckets is a good deal?
Hello World! May you guys tell me if I can trust in BT Buckets data, and if it's a good solution? We're integrating this solution to our website, but it seems that the API is out-of-date, like it's abandoned by the owner since 2010. Thanks.

Long page - good or bad?
Our attorney wrote a dozen articles that range from 300 to 700 words on various topics of the certain law area. These articles are all placed on our FAQ page with anchored table of contents. This page does frequently come up on the first page of the google when people search for the questions discussed in these articles. 90% of these visits are not local therefore they are not potential clients. Attorney views it more like a community service then a marketing tool. However, I think there might be a problem. People read though the page and close it because usually they can find what they were looking for right there, however GA counts it as bounce because they did not browse to another page. Would large number of bounces hurt our standing with Google? Would it be better to separate the page into multiple pages for each article to make visitors browse?

Multiple keyword rankings declined dramitically. Why??
SEO Moz has reported 7 of my keywords declined dramatically overnight. One word even went down 18 positions in Google. I have a few ideas on why, but none of them really make sence. 1.) The night before the decline I deleted around 6 "test pages" from our website. None of them could be reached through our website but they could be found by typing in the url. Most of these pages only said things like "test", but one of them was a draft of a keyword rich page within my website that only included some of the keywords that went down in ranking. Could the fact that I deleted this page be the cause of the ranking decline? 2.) About two weeks ago I purchased a url volusion-store-design.com which is one of my keywords and forward the address to an internal page within my website http://netonesystems.com/E-Commerce-Volusion-Store-Design. Could have this hurt my rankings, like Google is considering it duplicate content or something? If anyone has some ideas please help. Here are the keywords that I lost ranking for: volusion developers ---- down 18 volusion features ----- down 5 volusion store design ----- down 2 volusion templates ------ down 11 volusion designers ------ down 4 free volusion templates ------ down 4 ecommerce volusion features ------ down 3 Here are the pages these keyword were pointing to: http://netonesystems.com/E-Commerce-Volusion-Store-Design http://netonesystems.com/E-Commerce-Volusion-Features http://netonesystems.com/E-Commerce-Volusion-Templates

Why are my SERPs fluctuating 60+/- on a weekly basis?
I have a blog that's gone from not indexed, to indexed and ranked around 85 on 3 target key phrases. With a bit of SEO the blog jumped to around 11th on those 3 key phases in a week or so. Now, the following week, it has bombed back to 76th. Why the dramatic fluctuations?
