Speed benefits from loading images from a subdomain
-
I have read that loading images from a subdomain of your site instead of the main domain will give you speed benefits on load time. Has anyone actually seen that to be the case? Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful advice!

If you are talking about using a cookie-free subdomain, that can definitely have an impact on site speed:

Just using a subdomain won't have any benefit, and may even slow things down. Using a CDN for images and other components is usually the quickest and easiest solution for most sites.

Is there any benefit or negative impact to including schema for both @type WebPage and NewsArticle on the same page?
Is there any benefit or negative impact to including schema for both @type WebPage and NewsArticle on the same page? The websites I work on are editorial news sites. Our CMS automatically outputs WebPage schema to every article we publish. I want my dev to set up auto-generated NewsArticle schema. The are pretty much identical with a few different attributes. I just want to make sure I make the right choice about adding both or removing one.

Video & Graph That Lazy Loads
Hi, Product pages on our site have a couple of elements that are lazy loaded / loaded after user action. Apart from images which is a widely discussed topic in lazy loading, in our case Videos & Price Graphs are lazy loaded. For videos we do something that Amit Agarwal recommended here: http://labnol.org/internet/light-youtube-embeds/27941/ - We load a thumbnail and a play button over it. When a user clicks that play button, the video embedd form Youtube would load. However we are not sure if Google gets that and since the whole thing is under a H3 tag, will we a) loose out benefit of putting a relevant video there b) send any negative signals for only loading a image thumbnail under an h3 tag? We also have price graph, that lazy loads and is not seen when you see a cached version of our page on Google. Are we losing credit (in Google's eyes) for that content on our page? Sample page which has both price history graph & video http://pricebaba.com/mobile/apple-iphone-6s-16gb Appreciate your help! Thanks

Is there any benefit in using a subdomain redirected to a single page?
For example if we have a domain www.bobshardware.com.au and we setup a subdomain sydneysupplies.bobshardware.com.au and then brisbanescrewdrivers.bobshardware.com.au and used those in ad campaigns. Each subdomain being redirected back to a single page such as bobshardware.com.au/brisbane-screw-drivers etc. Is there a benefit ? Cheers

Moving image directory location on redesign.
I'm getting ready to do a redesign for a client and one thing that annoys me about the directory structure of the website is that he has files buried deep in the directories. For example, the images are buried like four folders deep in some cases and I would like to move all of those images into an images folder directly below the root. All of those images, however, have already been indexed by google and show up in google images. If I start moving those images around, could it hurt his rankings?

Subdomain for a blog
My client has a site hosted with a company that allows very little customization including I am unable to add a blog to the site. As he has a fair amount of time & money invested in the site, he is reluctant to start over. So my question is this. His blog is currently hosted off site, would it benefit him if I had them add a cname or a record to show his blog at blog.mydomain.com? Or does Google recognize that it is still a separate site and treat it as such? Finally does it matter how they set it up cname, a record or redirect? This is definitely not my area of expertise (if that is not already obvious from the question!). Thanks for your help! Matthew

Javascript late loaded content not read by Gogglebot
Hi, We have a page with some good "keyword" content (user supplied comment widget), but there was a design choice made previously to late load it via JavaScript. This was to improve performance and the overall functionality relies on JavaScript. Unfortunately since it is loaded via js, it isn't read by Googlebot so we get no SEO value. I've read Google doesn't weigh <noscript>content as much as regular content. is this true? Once option is just to load some of the content via <noscript> tags. I just want to make sure Google still reads this content.</p> <p>Another option is to load some of the content via simple html when loading the page. If JavaScript is enabled, we'd hide this "read only" version via css and display the more dynamic user friendly version. - Would changing display based on js enabled be deemed as cloaking? Since non-js users would see the same thing (and this provides a ways for them to see some of the functionality in the widget, it is an overall net gain for those users too).</p> <p>In the end, I want Google to read the content but trying to figure out the best way to do so.</p> <p>Thanks,</p> <p>Nic</p> <p> </p></noscript>

Subdomain Setting in MozBar
I'm using the MozBar on FF6 and have a question about the selector next to "Root Domain" When I set it to "Subdomain", I notice that DmR and DmT are different from the root domain. Am I looking at DmR and DmT for all subdomains (www included)?
