URL removals
-
Hello there,
I found out that some pages of the site have two different URL's pointing at the same page generating duplicate content, title and description.
Is there a way to block one of them?
cheers

I read it already.
Thanks a lot for your help, I will look at it again and see if I can find a solution.
Cheers

to a complete different page.
Anyway, I have been talking about pages but the three example above (A,B and C) is just one page that has two different URL,s and although the original URL (A) has been redirect, is still being counted has duplicate by Google.
I am trying to get the hang of it but there is a huge mess I'd say
-
what's C already being canonicalized to?
-
I think I will do that. Even though it might end up in a mess as on page **C ** there is a canonical tag already.
-
Yes, you could do that. But again why not rel=canonical all of them to the same page B is being canonicalized to?
-
**C **to B
Because **A **is already redirect to **B. **
The problem is that even though **A **is redirect to **B **I have lots of duplicate issues. I have lots of URL's like this.
-
Of A, B, C, which are you looking to redirect to which?
-
The problem is that the canonical tag can't be used as there it's been used already, the only option could be the 301 redirect, but there are quite a lot of pages with this issue, will it be okay to use the 301 for all of them?
This is the structure of the site:
A www.example.com/Product.asp?PID=1845 which was the original page, this page is redirect to
B www.example.com/Product/whatever-the-product-is/1845 which is the page reachable from the website and then there is another page
C www.example.com/Product/whatever-the-product-could-be/1845
These URL's represent the same page.
Also note that on page B there is already a canonical tag to another page in which are grouped all the products that differs from each other for colour, length or some other feature.
-
Technically there are two pages with unique URLs that serve the identical content. Can you just 301 redirect one of the URLs to the other? Another option would be to place a rel=canonical tag on the page that is not the original that points to the original page.
-
If you want the pages to remain in place, the best way is to rel=canonicalize one to the other. Here's Moz's guide for that.

AJAX and High Number Of URLS Indexed
I recently took over as the SEO for a large ecommerce site. Every Month or so our webmaster tools account is hit with a warning for a high number of URLS. In each message they send there is a sample of problematic URLS. 98% of each sample is not an actual URL on our site but is an AJAX request url that users are making. This is a server side request so the URL does not change when users make narrowing selections for items like size, color etc. Here is an example of what one of those looks like Tire?0-1.IBehaviorListener.0-border-border_body-VehicleFilter-VehicleSelectPanel-VehicleAttrsForm-Makes We have over 3 million indexed URLs according to Google because of this. We are not submitting these urls in our site maps, Google Bot is making lots of AJAX selections according to our server data. I have used the URL Handling Parameter Tool to target some of those parameters that are currently set to let Google decide and set it to "no urls" with those parameters to be indexed. I still need more time to see how effective that will be but it does seem to have slowed the number of URLs being indexed. Other notes: 1. Overall traffic to the site has been steady and even increasing. 2. Google bot crawls an average of 241000 urls each day according to our crawl stats. We are a large Ecommerce site that sells parts, accessories and apparel in the power sports industry. 3. We are using the Wicket frame work for our website. Thanks for your time.

Removing links - Best practice
Hi I have noticed on webmaster that I have a lot of links to my sites from link building directories. Either I did this many years a go or somehow they've linked to me. Would links to link building directories harm my site? i.e linkspurt.com pingerati.net I have quite a few and just wondering what to do with them. Also I have some customer sites which are massive one site has 38,000 links coming to my site as I have put a credit that I built the site with a link back to mine. It has a low score in Google would this also harm my site? Any advise would be appreciated.

Ignore Urls with pattern.
I have 7000 warnings of urls because of a 302 redirect. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/44060409.png/ I want to get rid of those, is it possible to get rid of the Urls with robots.txt. For example that it does not crawl anything that has /product_compare/ in its url? Thank you
