Define H2,H3 and H4 for e-commerce sites
-
Hi Everybody,
I was wondering what is the best way to define H2,H3 and H4 for e-commerce sites.
For example, I randomly chose an e-commerce site http://www.designerleds.com/products/high-power/
What would you suggest for H2,H3 and H4?
Thank you very much for your help!
-
Oh sorry, I didn't check any of the other pages. I would always create a unique H1 for every page. So not use the same H1 on every page as you want all of your pages to be as unique as possible.

Thanks for answering me. I read the discussion thread you mentioned and it was very useful and clarified a lot of things for me.

Thanks for your response Martijn!
For your suggestion for H1, "LED products" appears all over the site as it in the filter box so I would have the same H1 for all the pages on the site? Would that be beneficial for SEO?
-
Hi,
In the case of the site you've mentioned I would do the H1s like this:
H1: LED Products (yups, like the H2 is now).
H2: High Power LED.
H3: All the product names.Forget about the H4, I hardly believe this will still have any value to search engines.
-
If you are referring to a category page such as the link you provided, I would go for:
H1: Product Category
H2: Product Names
You probably won't need H3 or H4. Header tags should only be used for headings and subheadings, which means fields like product copy and prices should go under
or
.

News site and duplicate/cannibalism/old
Hey everybody. I am working with a handful of medical news websites and some of these sites are rather large. I am noticing/suspecting there is some cannibalism going on here. How do news sites deal with this? Do they noindex the old stuff? Update the old stuff instead of writing a new piece all together? Curious what to do!

Site no indexed after a week loadbalancer, cache-control?
hi All apologies to everybody in advance my level of SEO or technical stuff is quite minimal. we have setup a new site with a top level domain sitting on multiple servers ( https.www.mysite/new/ on one and http.wwww.mysites/old/ on another) different pages, content etc. it's definitely a patchy solution until what is left in the old server will be migrated to the new one. however the new site is still not indexed after around 2 weeks. I have checke on moz and and google console ( fetch and rendering) and nothing seem to block indexing. no issue with robot.txt ( either on https.www.mysite/new/robots.txt or http.wwww.mysites/old/robots.txt) meta-robot. any idea on what could cause the problem? can it be an issue with the cache-control set as : no-store no-cache? Or the loadbalancer that is preventing google to access ? Dario

Why does Google pick a low priority page on my site?
Hi Guys. One of my pages ranks quite well for "mid year diaries 14-15" on Google. The problem is it's a really specific product page (A4, Hardback, day-to-a-page diary I think). It would be much better for the user to land on our mid-year diaries category, not really deep into the site. Why is Google prioritizing this product page over our general 'mid year diaries' category? Especially when the category would relate to the search more accurately? I work for TOAD diaries and I think our page rank is 10 for this search. Eagerly awaiting some insight 🙂 Thanks in advance everyone! Isaac.

Integrate a blog within an existing site
Hello everyone! I work on a website of a very small company and so far no one has ever implemented (not even thought about) a proper content strategy. The only content on the site are products description. Through Analytics I discovered lots of opportunities and topics to be covered which would massively increase the traffic, increase the engagement and (hopefully) sales. Problem is that I don't really know how to integrate a blog into the existing site; my first thought was wordpress What is the best way to do it?

Do https sites rank as well as http sites?
2 Questions: Question 1 - We currently have our entire site running on https (the http pages 301-redirect to the https versions). Assuming that the https pages load as quickly as the http versions, is it a problem that the entire site is https? The only official answer I've been able to find is this 2011 video where Matt Cutts basically says "I don't know" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeFo4ytOk8M Question 2 - Is there any problem with having half our site running on https only (with the http pages redirected), and the other half (our blog) running on http only (with all https blog pages redirected to the http versions)? Thanks in advance for any input! Justin

New site not ranking for it's name
Performed on-page SEO for this new site that went live a couple of weeks ago - no link building or anything of that nature yet. http://maven-management.com I'm starting to see the site rank on Bing for some keyword phrases but it doesn't rank for the business name "Maven Management" on any major search engine. SEOMoz gives my on page optimization an A for the business name for the home page. Am I just being impatient? I didn't really put much effort into ranking for the business name because that generally seems to happen without any issue. There are other companies online with the same name. Any insight is appreciated.
