This directory looks great - would you agree?
-
I know people have mixed feelings towards submitting their sites to directories, but this one really seemed special, so I decided to share the opportunity with the Moz community, as well as open up a discussion on the value of being a part of this directory (and similar ones.)
We recently submitted our site to Dial a Human (www.dialahuman.com) It is a directory of companies' phone numbers, which go directly to a person (bypassing the machines.) I think this directory actually does provide users with value, and is far from your typical link farm.
The Page Authority is 56 and the Domain Authority is 47, and it is a PR5 site.
The other companies listed are all extremely reputable (most of them are fortune 500 companies.) The fee to join is $75-$150, but to be included with this group of companies, we felt it was very worthwhile.
We would join this type of directory over and over again. Would you?
If you have any other directories which are of the same caliber please share!

Wow - nice graph! Where is that data from?

Looks like google dosen't really like this one: http://screencast.com/t/1nwsdABxQv
So I would't put any hopes to get some love from any links from there ...
However for sure you will get some love phone calls from a lot of companies trying to push services and products

No worries! Appreciate your input.

Sorry Miki but I think it flunks on both counts.
-
Interesting note on the discriminatory aspect - I was under the impression that as long as the directory provided real value to users, Google would be lenient.
-
While I agree that there is nothing more annoying then telemarketers, our company does not have a choice, we pick up the phone when it rings. (And I have a feeling your company is the same way.) Our phone number is on our website. I don't think being a part of "Dial a Human" would cause any extra telemarketers to call us.
I was asking more from a link-building aspect whether you thought this link was worthwhile.

Your unjustified enthusiasm for being included in a directory with such a poor design make me think that maybe you created this directory yourself and are just trying to promote it here... because I find it had to believe that Amazon, Google, Paypal payed money to be included there.
But I hope that is not the case and my answer to your question is: my small company chooses to list its contact details on the website and other places where it can be easily found by our clients, not by telemarketers like EGOL correctly pointed out.
-
My first impression was (and I suppose still is) that this is a directory of shortcuts to humans (0,0,0).
It was my understanding that if Google is going to give a directory any leniency, it must be discriminatory to some extent.
I don't see anything in terms of discriminating factors.
You're either direct to a person or not. If you've got to press 0 a bunch of times its of no help.
Sorry, but I'll pass on this one.

It is probably a great resource for people who want to call companies to sell them a service. We get calls every week from incompetent SEOs. They are a huge waste of our time.
Why would you want to submit your website to a directory that is going to be used by telemarketers? Do you enjoy talking to these people?

Tons of Links from Low-Quality Image Directories?
Hi Mozzers, I've been receiving a ton of links from low-quality websites that look like image directories or search engines? They are displaying the images that are hosted on our own website. They all seem very similar. Has anyone experienced this and are these harmful? Should they be left alone or disavowed or..? Here are a few examples: http://myimagecollection.net http://pix-collection.com http://theimagess.org/ http://123coolpictures.com etc. Thanks in advance!

What should I look for when choosing a good article directory for SEO purposes?
I have been writing SEO content for blogs for the past year or so, but I am fairly new to article directories. With SEO in mind, what makes a particular article directory valuable? Currently I'm using EzineArticles and Squidoo; I liked Ezine in particular because of their thorough review process. I saw that recently Squidoo also amped up their checks for original content as a result of Google's stricter policies. I was interested in using HubPages also since they are good about reviewing content. I'm just curious how much factors like this reflect on an article directory SEO-wise. Are there any additional factors that set a a good article directory apart?

Paying to be listed on link directories... a little help?
So, I was perusing SEOMoz's suggested link directory list and noticed some sites there require paid links. I have a couple questions regarding this: Is paying for directory listings a good idea? I'm not crazy enough to buy a bunch of links; I want to create a sustainable SEO strategy. But I do know that most everyone does at least a little paid linking. Is there a budget or percentage of ones total links you would recommend for this? Is it REALLY ok to do this at all? Also, assuming I have about $200-$500/month I could spend purchasing links, what sites are best to get links for first? Just a bit of background: we're starting a content marketing strategy for our business and are spending about $2,000 per month "buying" content (design, data, writing, etc.) so purchasing links is definitely NOT our strategy and never will be. Thanks!

Has anyone seen positive results from using Submiteaze to submit to directories? I know an SEM agency that uses it for clients' link building campaigns, but I don't know if it is worth buying. Are there better alternatives?
I would like to start a link building initiative at my company for a new website, and would like to know if the value of the links built using Submiteaze would be worth the money.
