Tracking a domain with multiple locations
-
Esteemed Marketers of the Moz community,
We'd like to track a domain that has a separate web presence for specific locations.
In other words, the business has multiple locations in NJ and one in NYC.
Any tips and tricks to track how we're doing in the rankings for both NJ and NY?
Thanks Much,
Paul

Paul,
This is a good question and as they say in the art world "an important piece."
I am going to list an assumption or two here:
There is a single domain with sub directories for each location. (Not micro sites, sub domains, etc. for location).
The pages are optimized for each locale: Say, Cherry Hill, Newark, and NYC.
So, what are your options for tracking these? The best I have found is to track based on KW plus geo locator for the various keywords. So, house painter + each city, etc. Now, you will know what are the key terms and you can use a ton of different tracking options from Raven, SEMrush, WooRank, Moz, etc. If I were you, I would set each as its own campaign like with Moz. So, even though it is a single domain, you set it up with subdirectories instead. In this way when you list competitors you are able to use different competitors for each.
It is not as easy as most would like, but it is the best I have found.
Best of luck,

Is there anyway to track on-page grader grades for a site?
As opposed to going through the process of inputting the urls and keywords every couple of weeks, is there a way of Moz to send the scores for those keywords and the domain to which the url belongs?

Should I exclude prepositions in tracked keywords of moz analytics?
I'm new to Moz. Just set up my trial campaign, and it had suggested many keywords. Many of the phrases that were suggested do not contain prepositions. For example, instead of something like "sporting good stores in Chicago" it suggested "sporting good stores Chicago" Today, I looked at the on-page optimization suggestions, which are (of course) suggesting that I remove prepositions from my page to rank well. Well, as you know, that is unnatural to the reader. But I suspect people are searching in higher volume, leaving the prepositions out. I know that if I were to search for a sporting goods store in Chicago, I would probably leave out "in." What should I do? Should I remove all the suggested keywords, and make them readable (which people are less like using in their search?) Do I go back to all my pages and try to optimize it for a keyword that is natural, but does not include a preposition (such as Chicago sporting goods stores) or should I be doing something else?

Suggestion: Moz Domain Authority should take disavow into account
Since Moz is trying to predict how Google ranks your site, and Google claims to take the disavow file into account, I'd like to suggest that Moz allow webmasters to upload their disavow file. I imagine this data would be useful to Moz in determining Domain Authority (they may even think of other ways to use it and might even help come to a conclusion on the great debate) and it gives a chance for sites to improve their Moz DA when they are bombarded by spammy links. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this idea, as well as the what Wizards of Moz have to say.

Track ranking history
I'm trying to find out how a keyword phrase ranked over time. I remember how to do it on the old Moz platform, but do not see it in the new platform. I've checked the help files and forums and the information seems outdated because it mentions to click on a link that is not there. Michael

We're currently tracking goals in GA, but would be interested to learn if that can be accomplished in Moz Analytics.
