Google cached https rather than http

Google is using a secure version of a page (https) that is meant to be displayed using only http. I don't know of any links to the page using https, but want to verify that. I only have 1 secure page on the site and it does not link to the page in question.
What is the easiest way to nail down why Google is using the https version?

Great answer! I'm a bit behind on using canonical tags, but that makes perect sense. Thanks so much!

Google adds pages based on following links. If your site offers a link to the page, or even if any other site offers a link, then it can be crawled and potentially indexed.
If you do not wish the page to be listed you have a few options. You can canonicalize the page to point to the non-secure version. For example let's assume you have the page http://www.mysite.com/info.html. Let us also assume you have a secure version of the page. On both pages I would recommend adding the following code:
That code tells Google the http:// version of the page is the preferred version, and the other page is a duplication.
If you do not have a duplicate page issue and you simply don't wish a page to be listed in SERP, then add the "noindex" tag to the page.
What is the easiest way to nail down why Google is using the https version?
Google will list any pages it finds. That's their role. Unless you specifically provide a reason for them not to index a page, such as the canonical tag, a noindex tag, or block them with robots.txt, they will list a page. They have no way of knowing you wanted the http:// version listed unless you tell them.
To fix the issue, you can add the canonical and the next time they check the page they will update their data. It may take a bit of time depending on the size of your site.

Cached version of website
Hi, Upon checking the text cache view of our home page, I noticed the mobile menu links are also coming in text format which looks weird. Please see: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:indialetsplay.com&biw=1366&bih=638&noj=1&strip=1 Our coder told us that he has created separate menu i.e. one version for the desktop and one for the mobile version. Anyway, the reason the coder created a different menu for mobile in order to support the design requirements. Does the duplicating the menu good for on page SEO? Give the best solution for handling it.

Page disappeared from Google index. Google cache shows page is being redirected.
My URL is: http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/converse Hi. The week before last, my top Converse page went missing from the Google index. When I "fetch as Googlebot" I am able to get the page and "submit" it to the index. I have done this several times and still cannot get the page to show up. When I look at the Google cache of the page, it comes up with a different page. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/converse shows: http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/pop-in-olivia-kim Back story: As far as I know we have never redirected the Converse page to the Pop-In page. However the reverse may be true. We ran a Converse based Pop-In campaign but that used the Converse page and not the regular Pop-In page. Though the page comes back with a 200 status, it looks like Google thinks the page is being redirected. We were ranking #4 for "converse" - monthly searches = 550,000. My SEO traffic for the page has tanked since it has gone missing. Any help would be much appreciated. Stephan

Google caching the "cookie law message"
Hello! So i've been looking at the cached text version of our website. (Google Eyes is a great add on for this) One thing I've noticed is that, Google caches our EU Cookie Law message. The message appears on the top of the page and Google is caching this. The message is enclosed within and but it still is being cached. I'm going to ask the development mean to move the message at the bottom of the page and fix the position, but reviewing other websites with cookie messages, Google isn't caching them in their text only versions. Any tips or advice?

Where does Google pull the date stamp?
We're a news media site with content that has been live for a few years. All of a sudden, Google is showing our content (even though no one has touched the file) with a date stamp of '3 days ago'. Even for content that is years old. I checked the date it was last cached, and it doesn't even match. The URLs were last cached on January 16, but the date stamp says '3 days ago.' From where does Google pull the date stamp? Any ideas?
