Slow website
-
Hi
I have just migrated from a custom written php/mysql site to a site using wordpress and woocommerce.
I couldnt believe the drop in speed . I am using a few plugins for wordpress - contact forms / social sharing. and I have a few woocommerce plugins for taking payment etc.
I am hosting images css's and js's on W3 Total Cache and MAXCDN hoping to speed the site up but tools at http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt sometimes show that the time between browser request and reply can be between 1 and 15 secs.
I have searched all day looking for a post I read about two months ago with a tool that seems to look at server responce and redirect processing etc hoping it would help but cant find it. If anyone knows what I am talking about I would appreciate them posting a link
The site is http://www.synergy-health.co.uk and an example of an inner page is
Any suggestions please? Perhaps I have w3total cache set wrong?
Also, as the has been tanked and is in freefal iin google ranking since January would this be a good time to change the structure of Url from home/shop/product to domain.name/brand/product?
Thanks in advance !

Thanks to you both
I disabled total cache and ironically site loads a bit quicker. and I will look to combine the .css's and js's into single files if poss.
Thanks again!

It is very common for W3TC to perform slower if not configured correctly, or don't have optimal server side configuration to run W3TC caching/speed-improvements. Feel free to read more:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/web-sites-about-20-slower-with-w3-total-cache
Some opt for simpler caching plugins like super cache http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/
Hope this helps!

The site is taking way to long to load. What are the specs of the server that it is on and what kind of hosting package do you have? Also are you using godaddy?
Looking at the site, it looks like you are requesting to death. You have 14 css requests and 26 js requests. You should only have about 2 max. Also it looks like you should use a css sprite too. But the main issue looks to be server side to be totally honest. You can install new relic if you are on a vps account or have root access. But using something like maxcdn is not going to help you if you are not getting a lot of traffic. The issue seems to be the generating of the pages, not slowness in downloading files. This is what my wordpress site does on a vps server. http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bJ1IAF/dh42.com

Why Google de-rank a website.
Hi, I was inspecting a website which is covering the topic of best wheelbarrow of 2021, it is a new website and and starts ranking on google. But, after few days it got de-rank automatically and Moz is also not showing any result to that. I was wandering why this just happened and what should I do if I made my website and will not face this kind of situation?

Does my website builder/host have an effect on my SEO?
My SEO ranking has been suffering over the last year despite all my efforts. Do you think my website builder/host could negatively effect my SEO? I'm using something called jigsy. They seem really good in the sense that they are very responsive to requests for help, but I have found them to be limiting at times.

I cant:
-edit H1 and H2 tags on individual pages...the same ones are plastered throughout the site as part of a "theme"
-Do any link cannonicalization, which Moz Pro is marking me with 282 critical issues for.
-and I've had numerous times I've had to search out HTML code to paste into my page because they're missing something. ...I may have just answered my question myself, but I'm wondering how much of a problem all of this might be for my SEO? I was looking at switching to something like squarespace recently but it looks like Jigsy has thought of that and doesn't have any way for me to transfer my site to another service..... ugh! site:www.joeborders.com1 -
Duplicate content on charity website
Hi Mozers, We are working on a website for a UK charity – they are a hospice and have two distinct brands, one for their adult services and another for their children’s services. They currently have two different websites which have a large number of pages that contain identical text. We spoke with them and agreed that it would be better to combine the websites under one URL – that way a number of the duplicate pages could be reduced as they are relevant to both brands. What seamed like a good idea initially is beginning to not look so good now. We had planned to use CSS to load different style sheets for each brand – depending on the referring URL (adult / Child) the page would display the appropriate branding. This will will work well up to a point. What we can’t work out is how to style the page if it is the initial landing page – the brands are quite different and we need to get this right. It is not such an issue for the management type pages (board of trustees etc) as they govern both identities. The issue is the donation, fundraising pages – they need to be found, and we are concerned that users will be confused if one of those pages is the initial landing page and they are served the wrong brand. We have thought of making one page the main page and using rel canonical on the other one, but that will affect its ability to be found in the search engines. Really not sure what the best way to move forward would be, any suggestions / guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks Fraser .

What is the optimum schema for a Website and how important is it really is for SEO?
Hey everyone,
Technical SEO | | artdivision
As you all probably has seen Google has changed their structure testing tool and alongside that has also changed what is considered as valid and not valid. I have been struggling with this question for quite a while now where opinions are really split. **1. How important is Schema for SEO? **
2. How far should you go Schema'ing your website pages? From the one hand i can see how it can be easier for a BOT to read a code that has proper "road signs" (our schemas markups), on the other hands, Google is already extremely clever is working out what is the header, sidebar or footer as well as review and or a blog posts (especially for those of us who use Wordpress. Would love to know if someone has seen a "Like to Like" show case with schemas and/or have some factual information regarding what should or shouldn't be done when it comes ot Schema. Dan. x1aw0 -
301 redirect to new website
We are migrating to a new website that will be using entirely new URLs under the same domain as the old website. The old website is a custom PHP script and the new website uses Drupal. I know that I should use individual 301 redirects to the corresponding new pages. My question is just how to set up the hundreds of 301 redirects from the old website to the new one? Here is the process I've come up with. Please let me know if there is an easier and better way for this. Before actually changing to the new website: download an advanced report with all pages on this domain from OSE. Find corresponding pages on the new website Make the hundreds of 301 redirect lines in an .htaccess file with the following code: redirect 301 /oldurl.html http://domain.com/the-full-url Thanks in advance for your help!

How best to optimise a website for more than one location?
I have a client who is a acupuncturist and operates clinics both in Chester and Knutsford in Cheshire the site performs well for Chester based terms such as "Chester acupuncture" this is the primary location the client wishes to focus efforts on but would also like to improve rankings for the Knutsford clinic and area. I have setup local places pages for each clinic and registered each on different local directories. Both clinic addresses are placed on each page of the website and have a map to each on the contact page. Most of the on-page SEO elements such as page titles, descriptions and on-page keywords mainly focus on the term "Chester" over "Knutsford" is it advisable to target both locations in these page elements or will local search have an effect on this and will reduce/ dilute overall rankings for Chester clinic? I haven't setup and separate page for each clinic location as this might help in terms of SEO for improving ranking for both locations but from a user point of view it would just duplicate the same content but for a different location and also would create duplicate content issues. Any advice/ experience on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
