Bad performance for low competition term

Hi everybody. I've been working on this page for some time, http://www.double-glazing-forum.com/anglian-windows.aspx. Until several months ago, it ranked really well for the terms 'Anglian windows' and 'Anglian windows reviews'. However, following a Google update it tanked and has got worse ever since. Here's what I've done to try and fix it.
Added 800 words of unique copy
Added YouTube videos
Replaced scraped press releases with unique descriptions that link to the source
Analysed the backlink profile and uploaded a disavow file containing all bad links
Contacted webmaster to remove them where possible
Getting a bit low on ideas now, so any help would be great!

As other have mentioned, I would also echo that "low competition" is a little relative depending on the query.
For just "anglian windows" this is a brand search and will be really tough to rank there moving forward. Even if you do, I am not sure it would get tons of clicks, because this is likely more often then not a navigational search where the user knows they want the brand homepage.
For "anglian windows reviews" - maybe I'm missing this, but does your page have reviews on it? As in a collection of 3rd party authentic non-biased reviews? Unless it has something like that - or at least genuine internal reviews written by your site, it's also going to have a hard time ranking there since the query intent / content match is a little off.

This is a quiet common trap people fall into when they see "low competition" and 1000+ searches a month for a term. They tend to go for that keyword without google-ing it and having a look what top 10 looks like. There might be a reason why it says "low competition". For the review keyword you chose for example you have to compete with blogs and review sites (UK) such as "money supermarket", AVForums, mumsblog jsut to name a few, there is no way in the world you will beat these people.
Also with forums and MNS the problem is that you do not sell the actual product thus google thinks that a web site which sells and have reviews is much more important than yours.

Agreed with all Tom and Ash have said, would just add that low competition is a relative thing. If I understand it that is someone else's brand right? So competition there is the brand pages (they even get a brand knowledge graph entry for me) and brand+review brings other review sites into the picture. Doesn't look THAT low competition to me.... maybe a brainstorming session for longer tail terms might be in order. Just saying

You still have (as you know) a lot of links from article directories and a large proportion of keyword anchor text backlinks from the usual suspects with low trust. The home page link profile is slightly better.
You should get some URL and "click here" kind of spread in the anchor text. The link profile still looks like an "SEO job" since inner pages seldom have a lot of deep links and there isn't any hint of natural links. Some out of the box thinking is needed to get citations, e.g. finding some real magazine or newspaper to feature the page.

It looks like you're taking the right steps to rectify the problems with the page. All I would suggest is that removing the bad links is one thing, but replacing them with the right sort of links is another.
All of those bad links, whether they were boosting or bringing down the page itself, will need to be replaced. Try and produce excellent, contextual content (both written or visual) on your site that people will want to share or link to - or alternatively, produce informational and educational content for external sites that may want to link back to your site as a result.
When earning these links, try to make sure that the anchor text linking to the page is diverse. Right now, a lot of the links to the page are keyword rich and it would appear unnatural, or over-optimised, to either a Google manual reviewer or the algorithm. Diversify it with brand terms, raw URLs and other anchors.
Unless you received a link warning in webmaster tools, this looks like an algorithmic update that has affected your site. As a result, your efforts to restore your site's position may take a bit of time until that part of the algorithm updates or refreshes. If you can, it's a good idea to run your analytics profile through the Panguin Tool. This tool marries up your organic traffic to major Google updates. If your traffic (and rankings) have fallen on a date that coincides with an update, such as Penguin, it's a strong indication that it's that particular part of the algorithm that has effected you. This can help you decipher what steps need to be taken.

Does traffic for branded searches help a site rank for general terms?
A year or two ago we put up some websites which were specific to brands we own. Sure enough those sites (eg 'myBrand.com') started to rank pretty well for those brand terms eg 'mybrand curling tongs' (it's not curling tongs, btw, but you get the idea). We were getting a decent amount of traffic presumably from people who have bought or seen these products on our amazon/ebay stores. Before long, we see us starting to rank well for non branded searches eg 'curling tongs' even among decent competition. Next thing you know I'm getting told by the boss that we need to put up websites for all specific ranges, not just brands, because specificity is a bonus for ranking well. While there's probably a point that a site for MybrandCurlingTongs lends itself well to ranking for curling tongs, is there also an element that the branded searches we got (via making our brand known on amazon/ebay) helped the site gain recognition and authority? As such a new website about 'ionising hair dryers' would not rank well based on being specific, because it wouldn't be helped by a lot of branded traffic?

Hi, Here's what I'm doing: I've got Creative Suite and I'm putting together animations and videos for several websites, finding clips and images and forming what we need. What I need: A video production service to put everything together with their fine 10X or near "touch" without charging me too much since I did all the legwork. I'm asking for a miracle here, I'm asking for almost 10X animation, but where I do the legwork and it doesn't cost very much. Real low budget here, but we're not willing to put out anything low par. Targeting two search terms with same intent - one or more pages for SEO benefits?
I'd like some professional opinions on this topic. I'm looking after the SEO for my friends site, and there are two main search terms we are looking to boost in search engines. The company sells Billboard advertising space to businesses in the UK. Here are the two search terms we're looking to target: Billboard Advertising - 880 searches P/M Outdoor Advertising - 720 searches P/M It would usually make sense to make a separate page to target the keyword "billboard advertising" on its own fully optimised landing page with more information on the topic and with a targeted URL: www.website.com/billboard-advertising/ and the homepage to target "outdoor advertising" as it's an outdoor advertising agency. But there's a problem, as both search terms are highly related and have the same intent, I'm worried that if we create a separate page to target the billboard advertising, it will conflict with the homepage targeting outdoor advertising. Also, the main competitors who are currently ranked position 1-3, are ranking with their home pages and not optimised landing pages to target the exact search term "billboard advertising". Any advice on this?

More bad links
Hi, After a recent disastrous dalliance with a rogue SEO company I disavowed quite a few domains (links he had gained) which I was receiving a penalty of about 23 places. I cleaned up the site and added meta descriptions where missing, and deleted duplicate titles and pages. This gained me another 5 places. In the meantime I have been getting a few links from wedding blogs, adobe forums and other relevant sites so was expecting an upward momentum. Since the high point of bottom of page 1 I have slowly slid back down to near the bottom of page two for my main keywords. Just checked my webmaster tools latest links and another 4 domains have appeared (gained by the dodgy SEO) : domain:erwinskee.blog.co.uk domain:grencholerz.blog.co.uk domain:valeriiees.blog.co.uk domain:gb.bizin.eu They all look bad so I am going to disavow. I expect to find an improvement when I disavow these new domains. As I have said, have started using the open site explorer tool to check my competitors backlinks and getting some low level links(I'm a wedding photographer) like forum comments and blog comments and good directories. I know there is much more than this to SEO and plan on raising my game as time progresses. I have also gained more links from the domains I disavowed on the 8th January mostly from www.friendfeed.com. will webmaster tools ignore any new links from previously disavowed domains? Like I have said I know there are better ways to get links, but are these links (forum comments, blog comments and respectable directories) one way of raising my rankings? To be honest that is all my competitors have got other than some of the top boys might have a photograph or two on another site with a link. No-one has a decent article or review anywhere (which is my next stage of getting links). Thanks! David.

Consolidating numerous landing pages using similar search terms
Hi, The site I am working on currently uses numerous pages for search terms with similar keywords. vehicle wrapping / vehicle wraps / car wrapping / car wraps / van wrapping / van wraps etc Now obviously i want to bring these into one to help create one high authority page covering all terms. At present the "car wraps" page is ranking for quite a few of these terms. Am i best to stick with this or chose the highest search term being car wrapping, and pass the dribbles of juice from the rest and "car wraps" onto this? This is aimed at a local demographic so the local terms will be thrown in too unless you think the places pages will work in favour? Many thanks,

Should I remove all meta descriptions to avoid duplicates as a short term fix?
I’m currently trying to implement Matt Cutt’s advice from a recent YouTube video, in which he said that it was better to have no meta descriptions at all than duplicates. I know that there are better alternatives, but, if forced to make a choice, would it be better to remove all duplicate meta descriptions from a site than to have duplicates (leaving a lone meta tag description on the home page perhaps?). This would be a short term fix prior to making changes to our CMS to allow us to add unique meta descriptions to the most important pages. I’ve seen various blogs across the internet which recommend removing all the tags in these circumstances, but I’m interested in what people on Moz think of this. The site currently has a meta description which is duplicated across every page on the site.

What to do with bad webpage
Hello everyone, I have a page in my website that has a terrible link profile (95% exact match keyword links.) What is the best thing to do with this page? It provides no value, and if anything it is hurting me. Should I just delete the page, 301 it to an obscure page or something else? Thanks!

Are Special Characters and Phone no. in Title Tag bad for Rankings? thank u
Hello. In my two sites painterdublin.com and tilers-dublin.com I am using a special characters in my title and meta description tags. My sites got penalized on 28.9.2012 and apart from other problems I got advice here on seomoz to remove those characters from tags.
