Using youtube videos to rank for queries in the serps as well as youtube
-
I have some youtube videos of my business and some of them are ranking organically as well as for queries in youtube. Would it be wise to start naming more of my videos long tale key search phrases and uploading them to youtube to get them to rank organically and on youtube?
what is the best way to optimize these videos? key phrases in the description as well as title of the video?
How do i get them to rank on youtube as well as in the serps? just get lots of views or do links to my video help?
Thanks mozzers!

Hi Ron,
I think there may be some value in building your YouTube presence for certain keywords, but you're looking at this situation all the wrong way round.
Really - you should start by looking at your business goals and determining whether, for a specific keyword, you want users to go to your site, or to YouTube to watch a video. If the keyword is informational and potentially appeals to individuals high up in your conversion funnel - that is to say, they aren't already engaged influencers or members of your community - then getting them to watch a video on YouTube that helps solve a specific problem or provides decent (non sales-focused) information might be the way to go.
If you're then able to create good content to fit with the user intent for that keyword - THEN you can think about optimising your YouTube videos and presence with specific keyword intent.
Don't start with the form (video) or the channel (youtube) but instead start with the audience and the business goals - then work out your strategy from there.
in terms of optimising for YouTube - basically, the Title should be treated like a title, the description like a meta description - then you need to drive targeted engagement (not just raw views) in order to get the video ranking. Embeds and links also help, and uploading a transcription manually will allow you to rank for longer tail phrases which match the text in the transcription itself.
I hope that's useful.

can i upload the same video for all the different long tale key phrases or can google tell it's the same video and think that it is spammy?

Definitely optimize your videos for the SERPs, Google ranks YouTube videos highly even for competitive queries.
To optimize videos for Youtube and/or Google:
- Include relevant keywords in the title
- Include tags with relevant keywords
- Provide a unique, detailed description with keywords
- Include a transcript of the video
- Get lots of views on your video
- Get lots of likes/+1s on your video
For Google specifically, try to get your video embeded on high authority sites and build backlinks as you would with any other sites.

Will subtitling Youtube video Be worthwhile?
We've been thinking that maybe it would be beneficial in terms of SEO to supply our YouTube videos with CC / subtitles. Unfortunately, this is very time consuming, so we would like to know, basically, if it's worthwhile. Does any of you have any expectations or even experience with this, you'd like to share with us?

How To Use Followerwonk and Twitter for outreach link building
I'm wondering if anyone can help me with how to use follower wonk and twitter for outreach link building and offer any strategies. I'm using the following method but perhaps there are more efficient ways of doing it or other software that can aid the process. As I understand it it's a case of searching bios on followerwonk based on keywords and at the minute I'm selecting targets by social authority. (Is that the best metric or the there another one that's better?). I'm basically then following users in my niche and hoping that they follow me back. Those that do I'm then visiting their website based on the url in their twitter bio and running it through OSE to check the domain authority to see if the site authority is high enough to warrant listing them as a potential link target. If so I'm communicating with them by sharing their content, mentioning them or direct messaging them complimenting them on an article or such like. My aim is to build a relationship and eventually achieve a guest post or backlink somehow. Is this how the process should work?

Extremely useful facebook app. Which is it ?
Hi, Just noticed what to me and our ecomm site seemed like an extremely useful way of advertizing on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/?sk=lf#!/lindexnorge . At the time of writing its the 2nd one on this facebook site. This which I assume is an app gives in this case 30% off on dress of your own choosing. Clicking the box sends you an email from facebook with info. It specifies in pop up after clicking that your mail adress has not been shared with the ecom site. There is also a smaller line on bottom were default is to share this with your friends on facebook. You have to change this in order not to. Within 24 hours this one is up to 20k uses and that is quite a lot in a small country like norway. Anyone understand which app this is or how it can be done ? Dan Lærum

Can you set up a Google 'author' for rich snippets using a G+ business page or does it have to be a personal profile?
I've set up an author profile for myself, but if I'm writing articles for clients, I don't necessarily want to do it in my own name. Is it possible to set up a Google author profile using a G+ business page? Obviously the idea is to try and gain the rich snippets that only recognised authors receive, but to do so in the name of my client.
