Has anyone ran into SEO issues with sites utilizing load balancing systems? We're running into some other technical complications (for using 3rd party tracking services), but I'm concerned now that the setup could have a not-so-good impact from an SEO standpoint.

Unless the load balancing is causing your system to 404 or 500 I cannot see any SEO impact. We did have to change the way we handled session state when we switched to load balancing to ensure state was valid on our shopping cart calls but that is more a developer issue than SEO. Most major hosts now tend to use VM, Cloud or other resource load balancing behind the scenes to keep their costs down without impact to SEO of their clients.

Search Console Change of Address Tool Issue

We're currently migrating few "event" mini sites to a main site that will have a subfolder for each event.. Example:
newsite.com/event1 The issue is that Search console is not able to verify this kind of redirect:
example.com --> 301 --> newsite.com/event Do you know any work around for this? I was thinking of using a subdomain instead which will in turn redirect to the /event subfolder.. but with each hop it will diminish the link's strength. I prefer not to leave it as subdomain as data gets mashed up in Google Analytics with subdomains and we have seen worse ranking results with subdomains. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Multiple h1 tags on this html 5 page a issue?

Any issues with having a seperate shop section?

Ive had a bit of a dilemma whether to go for a full ecommerce site or having a seperate shop section. My main goal is to push our installation services so Ive decided to go with the latter option. The main categories will be focused solely on Installation services and then Ill have a seperate category which will take the customer to mydomain.com/shop where well have our products for them to buy and fit themselves. The only issue I see is that Im going to have two pages competing against each other. Theyll both have different content but one will be focusing on us installing a particular product and the other will focus on the customer buying it to fit themselves. Will it make things more difficult to rank or wont it make a difference?

Having issues crawling a website

We looked to use the Screaming Frog Tool to crawl this website and get a list of all meta-titles from the site, however, it only resulted with the one result - the homepage. We then sought to obtain a list of the URLs of the site by creating a sitemap using https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/. Once again however, we just go the one result - the homepage. There is something that seems to be restricting these tools from crawling all pages. If you anyone can shed some light as to what this could be, we'd be most appreciative.

Yahoo directory listing issue

Hello all, We submit our site http://tinyurl.com/5v9hrql to Yahoo's directory (Standard Listing) on 08/26/2012 at this time the order remains as pending and the site is not listed on our suggested category http://tinyurl.com/d4a5lyf Furthermore, we haven't gotten any email from Yahoo Team; something is wrong with our submission or need to contact to? SEO-Friendly Method to Load XML Content onto Page

I have a client who has about 100 portfolio entries, each with its own HTML page. Those pages aren't getting indexed because of the way the main portfolio menu page works: It uses javascript to load the list of portfolio entries from an XML file along with metadata about each entry. Because it uses javascript, crawlers aren't seeing anything on the portfolio menu page. Here's a sample of the javascript used, this is one of many more lines of code: // load project xml try{ var req = new Request({ method: 'get', url: '/data/projects.xml', Normally I'd have them just manually add entries to the portfolio menu page, but part of the metadata that's getting loaded is project characteristics that are used to filter which portfolio entries are shown on page, such as client type (government, education, industrial, residential, industrial, etc.) and project type (depending on type of service that was provided). It's similar to filtering you'd see on an e-commerce site. This has to stay, so the page needs to remain dynamic. I'm trying to summarize the alternate methods they could use to load that content onto the page instead of javascript (I assume that server side solutions are the only ones I'd want, unless there's another option I'm unaware of). I'm aware that PHP could probably load all of their portfolio entries in the XML file on the server side. I'd like to get some recommendations on other possible solutions. Charity project for local women's shelter - need help: will Google notice if you alter the document title with Javascript after the page loads?

I am doing some pro-bono work with a local shelter for female victims of domestic abuse. I am trying to help visitors to the site cover their tracks by employing a document.title change when the page loads using JavaScript. This shelter receives a lot of traffic from Google. I worry that the Google bots will see this javascript change and somehow penalize this site or modify the title in the SERPs. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of javascript maneuver? All help would be greatly appreciated!

Navigation - Balancing UX & SEO

I'm currently evaluating our navigation in the course of a site relaunch. From reading a number of articles and posts on seoMOZ, here are the elements I've found important to consider: Use CSS (not Javascript) for the primary drop-down navigation menu Get rid of two design elements from our earlier days: The 30 something site-wide category links in the footer, and many no-followed internal links (in an attempt to sculpt PR) Keep all pages within 3 clicks of the homepage, and have ample cross-links within internal pages. The one major problem I'm facing is how to balance UX and SEO in the primary navigation bar. To illustrate, let's assume I sell Tennis equipment. If one of the top-level categories on my navigation bar was "Rackets", if I was designing purely with SEO in mind the category names would be: Tennis Rackets -> Wilson Tennis Rackets Head Tennis Rackets Prince Tennis Rackets ....as the full, three word anchor text will be most specific and valuable to pass reputation to the category pages. However, from a UX perspective, writing "Tennis Rackets" after each category is unnecessary, and it would look MUCH cleaner to instead have: Tennis Rackets -> Wilson Head Prince ....but this would obviously be less beneficial from a SEO standpoint for each individual, manufacturer racquet page as the entire search term ("Wilson Tennis Rackets") is not in the anchor text. As these links will be on every page of the site, I'm struggling with which to choose - clean navigation or improved SEO. My Questions: I would love to hear the communities thoughts on how to weigh the balance of these two - clean UX navigation vs. SEO-rich specific anchor text - in navigation. Also, I'd appreciate hearing if any of my original 3 assumptions for the re-design are off-base or incorrect. Thank you!
