Getting Connections to Follow LinkedIn Company Page
-
I've just started a freelance contract with a client promoting their content over social media, primarily Twitter and LinkedIn.
As I've started to manager their accounts, I noticed they have set up both a personal LinkedIn page under the company name as well as a Company Page.
The "personal" account has 330 connections but the Company Page only has 17 followers. Has anyone had success with a good strategy for quickly and effectively promoting the Company Page to the personal connections?
I'd like to actually migrate the connections over to the Company Page, which should be the primary focus.
Thanks for any help.

Richard and Vadim have some great points. I'd also look into an email marketing campaign to highlight some notes about LinkedIn and profile what and how your company uses LinkedIn to engage with Groups, updates, industry news, etc.
Hope this was helpful to compliment the other ideas.

You can also
- follow other companies on LinkedIn; some will follow you back.
- Add the page URL to your email signature
- https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins + https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins/company-profile-plugin add follow company profile to pages
Hope this helps

Carl,
To begin with we would throw away the "personal company page". I would hazard to guess that most people connected with that page because of the name attached to it. (Either the Owner/President or the Marketer behind it.)
Here are some suggestions though to build up the company page:
- Turn the personal page into the Owner page and use it as a ghost account.
- Have the personal profile shoot out updates and occasionally share the brand's updates.
- Engage with people using the personal profile in relevant groups.
- Have the entire company like the page.
- Use LinkedIn Ads, to promote the brand.
- Have the company use the company page to post jobs. (LinkedIn by default has you follow the brand you're applying to on LinkedIn.)
Those are some quick thoughts. Sadly there's no magic bullet, the goal is to interact and actually use the platform as it should be...but in particular posting jobs is a great way to increase it.

Should we add a weekly updated website blog (annotated re-postings) that mirrors our LinkedIn updates?.
We currently add original content to our website every couple of months in the form of long form articles we have guest authored for other reputable sites. We also maintain a LinkedIn company site with weekly updates in the form of annotated newsworthy re-postings. We are thinking of duplicating our LinkedIn update feed on our website as a blog in order to build more traffic and improve SEO. Hopefully the additional frequency of site updates will also help. Again, this additional content will be largely re purposed, with the exception of our value-added annotations. Good idea? Waste of time? Suggested tweaks? Should we link back to the original content source, no-follow, or no link?

Redirecting a page loved my Pintrest
Hi all, I'm after some advice on how best to redirect or retain any value a page might have from it's social shares (mainly Pintrest & a little FB). The page's original purpose was to be useful for people and hopefully pass some Google Juice to the main product page. I've created a new website and 301'd the pages to their new home. Now I'm going through my blog and I have a few pages that continue to get pinned around on Pintrest. Not sure the best way to retain the value. I was thinking of recreating the page on the new site and setting up a 301 redirect but I'm not sure if Pintrest follows along. Or maybe leaving the page on the old site and having a link to my main product page there (and it passing some value to the new domain). What do you think? Any other ideas that would be better? The page is: http://www.bringyourownlaptop.com.au/news/indesign-shortcuts-that-will-change-your-life/ The new home is www.byol.com.au. Thanks in advance Moz'ers! Dan

Social Icons Link to Inner Pages
We have the social icons (facebook, twitter, youtube etc) in the footer of our homepage linked to inner pages instead of our actual social accounts. So, if you click on the facebook icon you go to one of our inner pages talking about our facebook profile and why to like us on facebook. Then on this inner page you can get to our facebook profile. We do this so we can pass on PR juice from our homepage to our inner page, and not lose it right off our front page. Is this a good idea? Or does it just confuse users? Most people think when they click on a facebook icon they will go to an actual facebook profile. Here is my homepage, http://www.buyautoparts.com/ click on the icons on the footer and let me know your thoughts.

Google Plus Page vs. Local
We have a google plus page here, set up as a business: https://plus.google.com/b/118361610870255631824/118361610870255631824/posts Then we also have a migrated local page: https://plus.google.com/111600136449742974371/about?gl=uk&hl=en What I would like to see ideally, is to keep the local marker so when people search through Google Maps our name still appears, but on a branded search for 'world of books' I want to see our Google+ page down the right hand side, rather than the local page currently, search for 'world of books' I want it to look the same as if I search for 'music magpie' Help!

On the new Google+ Local pages, I was wondering if anyone knew how to add the "Follow" button to lead to the company Google+ profile.
I saw a video on an Internet marketing blog that showed a company's Google+ Local page with a "Follow" button on it so people could follow their company Google+ profile.
