Pagination Issue
-
Hello Community,
We have a pagination issue on a set of pages :
http://homengo.com/s/location/
http://homengo.com/s/location/?page=1
and so on ( ?page=2, ?page=3, ...).
As you can see in the source code the pagination rel and prev are there.
First question : does moz crawler know and recognize pagination ?
Second question : if yes then do you know what could be wrong with pagination on these pages ?
Thanks

OK, I understand now.
Looking at the source code I think it is making it hard for a crawler (Moz or Google) to make sense of it. Combine that with the AJAX running as it is I think it is not straightforward for a person to navigate either - just saying it how it is for me as a visitor to the site
With regard to Google, I think this is further compounded for them to relate what they can crawl to pages it will serve as relevant results for a search.
On the AJAX stuff this blog post by Matthew Edgar on Moz may help:
Can Google Really Access Content in JavaScript? Really?
Particularly striking for me is what Matthew says at the end:
Yes, Google can execute some JavaScript to find content but Google has limitations on what it can do, and what it can understand. The best practice remains the same: put the content you want Google to crawl and index in basic HTML. For example, use jQuery tabs to put the content on one file instead of AJAX tabs that spreads out the content across several files. In short, make it easy for Google to access your content.
Sorry, I don't mean for my thoughts to be seen as negative, but I hope the info helps you in some way.
Peter

Hello Peter,
Sorry yes i shoud have mentionned that we use jquery-ias to provide infinite scrolling on the website.
But on the html side it does not change anything since pagination is still in the html and you get different results if you access a page with a parameter such as ?page=3 or ?page=4

Hi, I looked at your site and could not see how the pagination is working as all I get if I scroll through the properties on the right-hand side is the page loading more properties dynamically so I never get to the end of page 1 it seems.
What am I misunderstanding?
Peter

Submitted URL has crawl issue - Submitted URL seems to be a Soft 404 - but all looks fine
Google Search Console is showing some pages up as "Submitted URL has crawl issue" but they look fine to me. I have set them as fixed but after a month they were finally re-crawled and google states the issue persists. Examples are: https://www.rscpp.co.uk/counselling/175809/psychology-alcester-lanes-end.html

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do next. Any advice? Thanks in advance.0 -

What is best practice for fixing urls that have duplicate content, non-static and other issues?
Hi, I know there are several good answers regarding duplicate content issues on this website already, however I have a question that involves the best way to avoid negative SEO impacts if I change the urls for an ecommerce site. Basically a new client has the following website http://www.gardenbeauty.co.uk and I notice that it suffers from duplicate content due to the http://www version and the non www version of the pages - this seems quite easy to fix using the guidance on this website. However I notice that the product page urls are far from ideal in that they have several issues including:- (a) they are mostly too long (b) don't include the keyword terms (in terms of best practice) (c) they don't use Static URLS An example of one these product urls would be http://www.gardenbeauty.co.uk/plant-details.php?name=Autumn Glory&p_genus=Hebe&code=heagl&category=hebe I'd like to address these issues, but the pages rank highly for the products themselves, therefore my question is what would you recommend I do to fix the urls without risking the high positions that many of these product pages have? thanks, Ben

How to solve issues regarding canonicalization?
Today, I was searching for article which may help me in issues regarding canonicalization and found very interesting article on SEOmoz. I am facing issues regarding de-indexing of pages and down of organic search engine visits. I have done proper R & D and apply it very carefully. But, still my indexed pages and visits are going down. I have applied canonical tag to following pages. Narrow by search: http://www.vistastores.com/outdoor-umbrellas?manufacturer=California+Umbrella Sorting: http://www.vistastores.com/outdoor-umbrellas?dir=desc&order=position Pagination: http://www.vistastores.com/outdoor-umbrellas?p=2 How can I improve my performance?

HTTP Compression -- Any potential issues with doing this?
We are thinking about turning on the IIS-6 HTTP Compression to help with page load times. Has anyone had any issues with doing this, particularly from an SEO or site functionality standpoint? We just want to double check before we take this step and see if there are any potential pitfalls we may not be aware of. Everything we've read seems to indicate it can only yield positive results. Any thoughts, advice, comments would be appreciated. Thank-you, Matt & Keith

I'm getting a Duplicate Content error in my Pro Dashboard for 2 versions of my Homepage. What is the best way to handle this issue?
Hi SEOMoz,I am trying to fix the final issues in my site crawl. One that confuses me is this canonical homepage URL fix. It says I have duplicate content on the following pages:http://www.accupos.com/http://www.accupos.com/index.phpWhat would be the best way to fix this problem? (...the first URL has a higher page authority by 10 points and 100+ more inbound links).Respectfully Yours,Derek M.

How much of an issue is it if a site is somehow connected to a site that was penalized by Google?
I am working with someone that is about to launch a new site, and one of the sites was affected by the Panda update. Does it matter if the two sites are connected? Share the same hosting provider and same Google Webmaster's account?
