How Can I Check New Backlinks?
-
I have attempted to use Open Site Explorer to attempt to see if the work I have been doing to earn new links is working and I cannot seem to find any new links. I tried the "just Discovered" beta, but I think that relies on Twitter, which these links would not appear on. How can I effectively monitor for new links (1 week or less in age) either using a Moz tool or an external tool that shows the date each link was discovered?

Does this tool still work? Tried adding it today and no joy.

Yes...Linkstant is not what it pretends to be. It basically adds a line item every time someone hits your website, alerting you to referral source. It does not go out and actively scour the net for new links that point to your domains, as described. So, it is only valuable if you have low traffic (easy to sort through the results) and people actually click external links to get to your site.
With my brands, we average 10K website visitors a day across 5 domains, so trying to watch the linkstant panel is basically a waste of my time. Especially when a majority of inbound links are people looking for jobs at our 900+ locations across the country and they click through from a jobs website.
Thanks anyway

Have you tried http://www.linkstant.com ?

They are the most recent Google has found, this doesn't mean they are the most recently made just the most recently Google has crawled.

This helps a bit. Are the dates always so far back in arrears? Seems like Oct 29 is my most recent date.
-
The dates are a little tricky to find.
Click on "Links to Your Site" in the Webmaster Tools side menu, then click on any of the links on the page that comes up. This will bring you to a page with "Download latest links" as an option. Click on that and you will download a list of your links with "First discovered" dates.

you can see dates :
Web master tools >
Search Traffic >
Link to your site >
More >
Download latest links

Hi Keri,
Thanks for the response. I have checked GWT, but there is no info about dates, unless I missed something. I want to be able to quantify to my client how many links I have achieved as of a certain date and campaign and cannot do so very effectively right now.

The Just Discovered does rely on Twitter. Google Webmaster Tools is getting better at showing newer links, and showing recent links. Have you dug around in there yet?

I also like Majestic SEO, and it is free to use for sites you own. I use it in combination with Webmaster Tools and of course Open Site Explorer.
-
I find Majestic SEO pretty helpful, you can also use Google webmaster tools and recently discovered links. Unfortunately most of the times its hard to find new links, i recommend you keep track of any links you build. It can take around a week for things to be crawled so you have to wait I'm afraid to say.

Moz showing +3M new inbound links. But nowhere to find them?
Hi there Moz is showing a +3M backlink rise in the dashboard for one of our domains. The site has always had around 350K backlinks and in Ahrefs and Majestic it still shows this number. But Moz shows a growth of +3M in the last two weeks. Is there a way to see where these backlinks come from in OSE? I can't seem to understand how it is possible to see this somehow. Can it be a mistake of Moz maybe?

Unable to fully see full spectrum of links built on some backlink checkers
We have built various links in directories and blogs to our website. We can clearly see that these links have been established on these websites. Some we have built well over 6 months ago. However, upon using a range of tools such as Moz Open Explorer, Cognitive SEO Backlink Explorer and SEM Rush's Backlink Checker, we cannot see in any of these backlink checking tools the full spectrum of links we know we have built displayed. In instances of using these tools, we are only seeing a very small sample of links that we have built. Our question here is then threefold: Why is it that a lot of these tools don't pick up the links we know we have built? Does google eventually see all the links we have built? Or does it suffer from the same problem as backlink checkers, unable to identify all built links? Is there a backlink checker that is throughly comprehensive, or close to, in its ability to identify all links? We have heard good things about Ahrefs and would love to hear people's thoughts here.

Why is Moz not crawling my backlinks
Hi my website www.dealwithautism.com is 3 months old and has been on DA 1 and PA1 ever since, even though the site is actively developed with quality content (a couple of posts already have 1k+ fb likes acquired editorially, while that doesnt necessarily improve SERP, it sure tells you that the post is engaging). In contrast another site of mine, www.deckmymac.com which is hardly ever managed, not have more than 15 posts and just 1 backlink, has DA 14. Running an on page analysis on www.dealwithautism.com I observed that Moz has not identified any backlinks nor social signals (except G+). However, according to Webmasters, I have 57 links, 51 of them to the root. Even Majestic is able to report 32+ backlinks. So what am I missing? Certainly, at this stage my website doesn't deserve DA 1, or does it?
