MOZ Tool Bar Query
-
Hi there,
I have a quick question about how pages are ranked on the MOZ tool bar.
If you view this page (with the MOZ tool bar showing on your browzer), it has strong metrics:
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/bristol-collection-venue-hire-0
However, when you click the 'Weddings' link a go one page further into the site, is has no metrics:
http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/wedding-venue-hire
Is this because the page hasn't been crawled? Getting a link here is still good?

Thanks Peter, that's very useful advice:)
Does anyone else have any thoughts?

Hi Jennie
Yes, the consensus used to be that a link from trusted sites like .gov (that's if we can trust government websites but then that's maybe for another discussion!) increase the trust of the page it linked to. The Moz SEO guide says the same in its summary on TrustRank: Earning links from highly trusted domains can result in a significant boost to this scoring metric. Universities, government websites and non-profit organizations represent examples of high-trust domains.
That said, there was a video posted about 3 years ago by Google's Matt Cutts that suggested that links from .gov sites carry no more trust than, for example, from a .com.
I think to a larger extent the question is how relevant is the linking site? By that I mean, is the linking site an authority on the subject for the link being given?
The most important thing really is relevance. In the context of the linking web page on the Bristol City Council website, whilst that page has some authority, the Bristol City Council website is not really an authority on wedding venues and as such the value of that link is probably the same or perhaps only a little more than a similar link from another site. If you had a link from a trusted authoritative site all about weddings then because the site is more relevant, then you may find that carries more weight.
I hope that helps,
PeterPS. This is the Matt Cutts video I referred to above: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxTmZulcQZ0 - listen to the clip around 1:45 into the video.

Thanks Peter,
We have a link going through to our wedding planning website, so also relevant.
I was under the impression that a link form a .gov website was a really great link to get - is it so in this scenario?

Hi Jennie
Both URLs you listed do display metrics in the Moz toolbar for me.
In terms of the value of getting a link from there yes, there could be, the most value would be a link from it is going to a page displaying a wedding venue for hire.
I hope that helps,
Peter

Google Disavow File Format and MOZ Spam Score Updates
Hi, Is there a defined file format for Google disavow file name? Does it has to be disavowlinks.txt or can we do this like domain-name-date.txt ? Also, since Google does not share their data with Moz, how does MOz updates its spam score after we disavow the bad links? Do we need to connect Google search console with Moz?

These sites have many inbound links but Moz Pro finds no such links. I also used SimilarWebPro Trial to confirm the existing of such links. (these sites have IP block so it requires an VPN to access with Japan IP) osakado.cc

A few questions regarding Moz tools + E-commerce strategy
Hi everyone 🙂 I'm currently in the midst of optimizing a Scandinavian E-commerce site. I have a few questions, that hopefully someone will be able to help me get answered. Firstly, GoogleBots should be able to recognize "ø" as "oe", "æ" as "ae" and "å" as "aa" in the URL title. I've noticed that Moz' On-page grader does not support this unfortunately - has something changed or do Scandinavians just receive a little less love than the English? Secondly, how does one avoid keyword stuffing on E-commerce sites? The products that are displayed in category pages all make use of the same keyword that is targeted for that category. As such, some pages have 40+ mentions of the keyword, although in reality there are less than 15 (the rest being in the product names). Any tips or tricks on how to get this optimized or does Google simply recognize the site as an E-commerce site and somewhat ignores keyword stuffing - as long as the website has sufficient content? Thirdly, has something happened to Moz' Open Site Explorer? It seems like something has changed and when I checked for backlinks for the site today, only 3 was found. I know for a fact that many many more exist (which other tools also confirm when they scrape the site). Looking forward to hearing from all of you! Best, Mark

403 errors in Moz but not in Google Search Console
Hello, Moz is showing that one of the sites I manage has about ten 403 errors on main pages, including the home page. But when I go to Google Search Console, I'm not getting any 403 errors. I don't know too much about this site (I handle the SEO for a few sites as a contractor for a digital marketing agency), but I can see that it's a WordPress site (I'm not sure if that's relevant). Can I assume this a Moz issue only? Thanks, Susannah Noel

Weekly and other data not available in moz tools
Dear All, Since last few days we are not getting updated results in moz tools. We get following warnings in the pages. "Hello! Weekly data for some campaigns is a bit behind schedule. Don't worry; it's processing now and will be available soon. Check out http://health.moz.com for the latest status on all of our tools. And thanks for your patience!" How much time it will take to show us the current results, so that we can properly work on it. Right now we are not able to measure any changes affected our site. Thanks, Om

May I know multiple campaigns set up, with same site url is allowable in Moz campaign or not?
Hi Guys, I have a question regarding moz campaign. I am a Moz Pro member, have taken Standard Plan. (Time being, am not in a position to upgrade to a higher plan) I have utilized only one campaign slot among total 5 slots. I have added xyz.com website in one campaign, there I have added 350 keywords which is the maximum count we can add in a a single campaign. Still, I have plenty of keywords to track for same website xyz.com. I am not planning to use the remaining 4 campaign slots for time being for any other websites. May I know, if I can add same xyz.com website in remaining campaign slots for tracking the remaining keywords for my website?

Moz can't crawl domain due to IP Geo redirect loop
Hi, I'm trying to crawl our domain www.salvationarmy.org.au via my Moz account and it only ever returns results for one page when it should be crawling more than 3,000 pages. In talking to support, they have said that because of the redirect we have in place it is creating a 302 loop and therefore not delivering results. Usually in this case I would obtain Moz's IP addresses and add them to the redirect settings as an exception, but Moz have said they use cloud-based services for crawling so the IPs change all the time. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue? At this point I've paid for a year's subscription to a product I can't use. Thanks, Mel
