How correcttly redirect to http://m.mobile.com website
-
Hi everyone, I will appreciate if you will drop here a piece of script ( or link to ) for CORRECT redirection for our http://m.mobile.com website. We are confused what type of redirection should we use java script, htaccess, php, 301, 302....? in order not to damage any rankings and etc...
Thanks

Is it a redirect you actually want? Using a redirect would mean that mobile users would see your non-mobile site and this isn't a good user experience. If it is a redirect you are after (because you no longer want your mobile domain) then you must use a 301 permanent redirect if you want to pass any SEO goodness from old domain to new domain. Where possible redirect relative mobile pages to desktop pages (e.g. mobile homepage to desktop homepage and mobile blue shoes page to desktop blue shoes page).
If it's not a redirect that you are after you may be looking for information on canonical and alternate tags. This allows you to have both sites running duplicate content without it affecting rankings and helps search engines understand the relationship between your mobile and desktop versions. More information here https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/details
But, ideally your website would be built using responsive design, then you wouldn't need a redirect or canonical tags for mobile site.
Hope that helps.

Hello Webdeal,
Firstly you may find the following helpful - https://developers.google.com/webmasters/smartphone-sites/redirects
"For this purpose, it does not matter if the server redirects with an HTTP 301 or a 302 status code."
Basically make it the site, redirect the mobile users to the correct site. The rankings should be fine if you've set up everything correctly.
Good luck!

Hi there,
Always use 301 redirect. 301 redirect passes on the links and juice to new url.. If im not wrong90-95% of links are passed on to the redirected location. -
Hii can you tell me what type of redirect you want, do you want to redirect a website m.mobile.com to someone else, or redirect the whole website mobile.com to m.mobile.com, can you little explain it more. Thanks

Redirecting 2 established websites to 1 new one.
I have 2 websites that I've built up for a few years decent DA. I'm thinking of making one new website and directing the two websites to it. Is Google going to find that suspicious, or will the new site benefit from the DA from both?

Multistore 302 Redirects
I noticed that every link on my site is being flagged up as a 302 temp redirect in Moz. The reason is because we have a multi store and use GeoIP to redirect anyone coming from their respective country. I'm guessing a 302 is the wrong way to do this - can anyone shed advice on the best practice for redirecting customers to geo-specific stores?

Browser Cacheing - HTTPS redirects to HTTP
Howdy lovely Moz people. A webmaster redirected https protocol links to http a number of years ago in order to try and capture as many links as possible on a site we now manage. We have recently tried to implement https and realised that because of this existing redirect rule, they are now causing infinite loops when trying to test an http redirect. http redirecting to https redirecting back to http, etc. The https version works by itself weirdly enough. We believe that this is due to the permanent browser caching. So unless users clear their cache, they will get this infinite loop. Does anyone have any advice on how we can get round this? a) index both sites and specify in GSC that the https is the canonical version of the site and hope that Google sees that and removes the http version for the https version b) stick with http as infinite loops will kill the site c) ??????????? Thanks all.

Combining 2 Websites
Any assistance/feedback is greatly appreciated. The scenario: We currently own two website, and we'd like to combine them and eliminate some expenses. Although the content is very similar in nature, it is not exact. www.KF.com that is managed by a third-party provider & www.KFA.com that is managed by the manufacturer of the product we sell. (*sites url's are not accurate) We have ended the contract of KF.com, however, this site has the best SERP/SEO.

We assume we'll take a hit, no matter what we do - however when it comes to SEO, but what is the right move to make? Do a domain "Transfer/Redirect" of KF to KFA.com or Do we simply change the KFA.com to KF.com? Still very much a rookie when it comes to this stuff. I do have the ability to SEO the KFA.com webiste. Hoping this makes sense - and apologize for the bad url's just not sure I can actually post the true addresses. Thanks in advance.0 -
Login redirect 302
Ok - anyone knows what to do with the temporary redirect to the login page? In our e-commerce system we have a checkout page, which requires user to be logged in - if they are not, we redirect them to the login page using simple php header("Locaiton: url"). This however has been found as a Warning as it's a temporary redirect. I can't really put there permanent redirect for obvious reasons so if someone could give me some clue on this situation that would be much appreciated.
