Why are some restricted items showing up on Google Shopping?

Hi there,
We sell tactical gear but only "Google Friendly" items in our Google Shopping Product Listing Ads. We don't include anything that goes on a rifle, including rifle scopes. However, we see that companies like ebay and OpticsPlanet can still sell riflescopes: https://www.google.com/#q=Bushnell+3-12x44+Mil+Dot+Tactical+Riflescope&tbm=shop. There's even an article by SearchEngineLand that points this out, too: http://searchengineland.com/google-weapon-listings-shopping-search-126487.
So why is it that they can sell them and we can't? What advantage do they have or what have they done?

Hey Jessica,
I think you should try calling Google Adwords directly and getting an answer from them. They should be able to help you with PLAs and give you a more specific answer as to why your products are being rejected. I believe (this is just my opinion) that landing pages matter more than AdWords is willing to admit. How are your product pages performing technically? Is there any way they could be mistaken for anything that's not a scope?

Thanks for the response. The key term is "should". We've tried several times to list it and it won't. I think we even tried to take out any terms from the title and product description that would include the words "weapon", "rifle", "AR-15" since the scope does apply to these terms, but we even see other's published listings still have those kinds of words on there.
Ah well, we'll just keep on trying and see if it sticks.

Sorry for the slow response! I'm sure you've been waiting to hear something.
As far as scopes, scope mounts, and laser sights go, you should be able to advertise with those with no issues. Is there another product that you are trying to sell that conflicts with the shopping guidelines?

Hi everyone, We have been running Google Ads for a while now and last week all of our Google Ads were paused with reason Compromised Site. Google Adwords GEO Targeting Via Checkin
Hi There, I have done a fair bit of searching for the answer to my question but to no avail, maybe it's not possible. With Google AdWords is it possible to target check-ins to premises. So say someone visits a place or checks-in, they get to a see an Ad. I can't see how it would be possible but maybe they have Googled the business, then they walk in and Google shows the ad based on IP address. So for example. people who visited the Rose & Crown in York could be shown hangover cures the next day, whilst they are laid-up in bed? Cheers Mozzers. Neil

Google Display Network had 3000 new placements in May
Hi all, I'm running through traffic figures from May as there was a huge spike. This is down to a spike in Adwords, specifically the Display Network. In May 2014, there is a total of 4337 placements. In April 2014, there is a total of 1561 placements. With nearly 3000 new placements where the ad could be shown, would anybody be able to explain as to how and why this has happened? I've run through the change history, and nothing i've done explains the extra placements. Auto add placements was on, but has been on for 12 months with no more than 50 extra per month. The only change that has been done that may link is I've added a mobile phone extension on ads displayed on mobile devices? The significant extra cost has been of no benefit to the campaign, as the advert displayed on various apps, forums and irrelevant websites.Would be great if anybody could shed some light here! How to view the sources of visitors who bounced off in Google Analytics?
Hi there, we have a website with a more than 60% bounce rate. I'm trying to find out where these visitors (the ones that are bouncing off) are coming from, to what percentage are they coming from the PPC campaign, from organic search results or referrals. I suspect that the keywords from the PPC campaign are not relevant to the website content (and hence visitors are bouncing off). Does anyone know how to check this in Google Analytics? Have you used an ad network other than Google Adwords?
We received a cold call from a company called Division-D. They make a lot of promises which sound good (but that's what marketers do 🙂 ). Advertising on a non-Google network probably would have fewer restrictions than an Adwords campaign and they say that they are fully transparent. Would it be worth it to listen to their whole pitch?

How does this company have more characters than allowed on Google Ads?
I thought this was weird and was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this... I attached the image so you can see what I mean. How does this company get away with having more characters than what Google Adwords allows? And why is there a "block ads from" thing underneath this ad, but not the others?
