Do we need to remove Google Authorship from the blog?
-
Search Engine Land reported that Google confirms that Authorship results in search are being intentionally reduced.
It appears that the Matt Cutts-promised reductions to the amount of Google Authorship results being shown in Google Search has begun.
Do we need to remove a Google Authorship tag from the blog? Because it hurts the ranking?
-
Generally agree with everyone (well, everyone so far ) - there's no need to remove authorship in general. Google isn't penalizing sites with authorship - they're just showing authorship thumbnails less often, as they found they were overdoing it (at least in the eyes of users).
The only exception I'd give is to be careful about applying authorship tags to every page on a site - home page, search results, product pages, etc. Some CMSs go crazy, unfortunately. This is technically against Google authorship guidelines. Again, most likely, they'll just ignore your authorship mark-up (it's not a penalty situation), but if you want that mark-up to appear in SERPs, then use it appropriately.

Definitely retain authorship for the blog. Having it in place will not have any negative impact but could have a positive impact. What Google are clearly aiming to do is to try an ensure that only authors that it views as deserving of authorship will have the rich snippets appearing in search. Essentially what they are saying is having authorship implemented is no guarantee of your authorship appearing in SERPs - rather those authors with 'authority' will be more likely to have enhanced appearance in SERPs.

Hi Varun,
Oh NO please don't remove your authorship. It could become a sign within the eyes of Google to identify the credibility of authors in the future. Also Google is only showing less authorship results in the search engine result pages but that doesn't mean they will put less weight on them.

Dear Varun,
Matt Cutts is not saying it will harm all websites - only that 'saying that the ability to have and use rich snippets may be taken away for low quality sites in the coming months.'*
So you have to make the decision if you think the article / website is of low quality. If you post high quality content, it shouldn't harm your website but it even will lift your website because it becomes harder to have your authors displayed in the SERPs.

Google Webmaster Remove URL Tool
Hi All, To keep this example simple.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Mark_Ch
You have a home page. The home page links to 4 pages (P1, P2, P3, P4). ** Home page**
P1 P2 P3 P4 You now use Google Webmaster removal tool to remove P4 webpage and cache instance. 24 hours later you check and see P4 has completely disappeared. You now remove the link from the home page pointing to P4. My Question
Does Google now see only pages P1, P2 & P3 and therefore allocate link juice at a rate of 33.33% each. Regards Mark0 -
Google + pages and SEO results...
Hi, Can anyone give me insight into how people are getting away with naming their business by the SEO search term, creating a BS Google + page, then having that page rank high in the search results. I am speaking specifically about the results you get when you Google: "Los Angeles DUI Lawyer". As you can see from my attached screenshot (I'm doing the search in Los Angeles), the FIRST listing is a Google + business. Strangely, the phone number listed doesn't actually take you to a DUI attorney, but rather to some marketing group that never answers the phone. Can anyone give me insight into why Google even allows this? I just find it odd that Google cares so much about the user experience, but have the first result be something completely misleading. I know it sounds like I'm just jealous (which I am, a little), but I find it disheartening that we work so hard on SEO, and someone takes the top spot with an obvious BS page. UupqBU9

Google +1 and Yslow
After adding Google's +1 script and call to our site (loading asynchronously), we noticed Yslow is giving us a D for not having expire headers for the following scripts: https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com... 1. Is their a workaround for this issue, so expire headers are added to to plusone and GA script? Or, are we being to nit-picky about this issue?0 -
Should I Remove My Articles From Article Directories?
I have been submitting articles to directories for about 3 years. With the Panda update, it seems that these directories are now obsolete. So, if there is no link value from these articles: 1) should I remove these articles (at east the better ones) and place them on my site/blog? 2) If not, would there be any benefit at pointing some bookmarks at these old links to maybe get some juice out of them?

Charity project for local women's shelter - need help: will Google notice if you alter the document title with Javascript after the page loads?
I am doing some pro-bono work with a local shelter for female victims of domestic abuse. I am trying to help visitors to the site cover their tracks by employing a document.title change when the page loads using JavaScript. This shelter receives a lot of traffic from Google. I worry that the Google bots will see this javascript change and somehow penalize this site or modify the title in the SERPs. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of javascript maneuver? All help would be greatly appreciated!
