Facebook Blocking Site
-
This is been a big annoyance for me. My site was on wordpress before and was infected with malware at one point. We were blocked by major AV, Google, and etc but we got the infection cleaned up quickly and got unblocked.
Problem now is that Facebook, we are still blocked on. We try to post a link and says we are harmful. We got unblocked from facebook and we posted but than they blocked us again. We have submitted multiple requests on that form but got no answer.
As a marketing agency, having our facebook page blocked to our site is bad. What can we do in this situation? We have no direct contact with anyone at facebook nor do they reply to our requests.
I do own a .net to my domain, should we start using that instead of .com or what? We really need to find a way out of this. It is hurting our reputation.

Unblock all the pages!

Erica,
Excellent work I got the same info as well.
All the best,
Thomas

Apparently the issue that you are having is a big problem. I took the time to chat with Sucuri they confirmed that Facebook is having large issues with sites that are actually no longer containing malware and have been blacklisted continuously.
[Note from Keri: I edited transcript format to make it easier to read, and kept it in just one response]
Thomas: Hi do you guys help people that are blacklisted on Facebook there is a person with a website that they believe is clean however Facebook keeps blacklisting it can you be of service?
Mark Z.:hello
Hi
Mark Z.:we would run our cleanup procedures and get it submitted to facebook for review
can you elaborate more because this person has tried to submit their site for review and it keeps coming back blacklisted?
Mark Z.:We have tools that we would first run on the server and all of it's site files. It's likely that facebook is blacklisting the site continuously because there is an underlying infection. So once we take care of that, we will resubmit to facebook.
they believe the website is clean I have not tested this site however would you guarantee Bt would be removed be removed If you're service were to be used? I agree I bet the Site is still infected however would this be part of your guarantee?
Mark Z.:yes, we guarantee to get it cleaned for a year, as we offer unlimited cleanups and scans during that timeframe
That it would be taken off the Facebook blacklist? I'm sorry but the person who only cares about removal from the Facebook blacklist so that is why have to ask if you guarantee that?
Mark Z.:double checking for you if we can guarantee Facebook as a service we can back
one moment
cool thanks
Mark Z.:okay I got a straight answer for you
cool
Mark Z.:we can't make a guarantee on facebook in that respect
we have apparently cleaned a lot of facebook blacklisted sites, and sometimes they come back clean, and sometimes they don't. They are apparently either neglecting, or evolving their methods and sometimes keep completely clean sites blacklisted, even after multiple submissions
just got those details from our administrator
Wow good to know. thank you so what do you do resubmit over & over?
Thank you for asking them
Mark Z.:That's really the only thing you could do at this point
And no problem
Mark I really appreciate your time your help I will pass this on.
Thanks man
Mark Z.:my pleasure!
Have a good night bye
I would double check your site anyway to make sure it is clean apparently this is a huge issue.

I have dealt with sites that have not been banned by Facebook however they have been blacklisted by McAfee the same company that does the blacklisting for Facebook to the best of my knowledge.
they also guarantee removal from some blacklists not every blacklist but the one that I believe is causing this issue.
http://sucuri.net/services/web-integrity-monitoring
The reason I stated that he should go on the site and ask them because Sucuri has have a pop-up question-and-answer bar On their website that can be used to say "I have a problem with Facebook blacklisting can you help me?"
Sucuri will check your site to make sure that the hack or whatever malware it's left behind is truly gone. They will also remove you from all blacklists because the 2 gentlemen I mentioned in my 1st post have so much knowledge regarding blacklists and blacklist removal for sites that are no longer carrying malware by speaking to them or by using their software only after making sure that the blacklist for Facebook is indeed McAfee which I know is what they use for general security. however they have their own security team I know they also use this list of companies the Facebook security page is right here
https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150492832835766
McAfee, Google, Web of Trust, and Websense
https://community.mcafee.com/thread/63938
I apologize if my idea of actually asking them for help was that bad. I realize that this gentleman has seemingly gone through a lot of trouble with one blacklist.
and Facebook does not care.
I would use services of people that have gotten clients of mine off of blacklists many times and know more about this issue than I do. However because when Intel acquired McAfee it became to the best of my knowledge the main blacklist for Facebook and Sucuri will make sure your site is not blacklisted on McAfee I would speak to the people and ask them if they can help you.
I apologize if I was unclear in my messages.
However, I do think taking to a social network and asking a large corporation like Facebook for help in a very public forum is a way to get attention if they are ignoring you.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Hi Muhammad,
Sorry to hear that your site's been blocked by Facebook. That's terrible!
I haven't dealt with this myself, but I did some digging and it looks like you aren't alone. Unfortunately, it looks like it's also very hard to get Facebook to unblock you. Facebook uses the companies Securi Site Check to make sure sites aren't scammy, spammy, or hacked. Securi looks like an aggregator of many security check sites, but that it will tell you which security check sites still have you on their blacklist and which ones you need to reach out to get whitelisted. You'll want to do this first before you do anymore outreach to Facebook.
After you are sure you're whitelisted with the security check sites, then contact Facebook. I found this case in Facebook's help threads about a company that was able to successfully unblock their site. Looks like he had his brand "like" all of Facebook's official pages to help businesses, which sent a trust signal to Facebook that the brand was legit. and then commented on all of them to get his page unblocked. Sadly, it looks like you have to be a very squeaky wheel to get anything done. If you have a Facebook ad rep, you also might reach out to them after making sure your site's whitelisted on those security sites.
Sadly, it does look like people did end up switching domains or doing some redirect action when Facebook wouldn't unblock their sites. But I'd use that as your very last resort.
Best of luck!

Hi Thomas,
Have you been in this situation before? I see where Sucuri will help clean your website, but that's not what the OP is asking. Instead, the OP has already cleaned their site and needs it whitelisted by Facebook.
You may need to tweak the settings of your voice recognition software, or do an extra check on what you post. There were several typos in this response that added a bit of confusion to your response.

Use social media to help your self go on twitter, Google+ Every thing that connects to Facebook as well like instagraham and say @facebook #facebook will not stop blocking a clean sight it is hurting my site if it is your business and it is affecting your Ability to make a living I have written to the correct channels and Facebook multiple times would use social media to try and get somebody from Facebook to help me
they should notice this or post it on your own account on Facebook or in their security forum.
Should be legitimate about your issue, and they should take it seriously. Here's more in formation I hope helps

You must be 100% legitimate about it tries to get somebody that will actually care and explain to you why you're on a continuous loop of being banned. It could be that you are just blacklisted on a company that you do not know about which Facebooks takes signals from. Sucuri Can help with that type of stuff as well as Facebook by proving that your site is clean and that you are doing nothing malicious they should fix this for you. however I suggest that you contact them prior to purchasing their product and asked them because they have a tremendous amount of knowledge about blacklists I believe they can help you.
I wish you luck,
Thomas

How do your direct social media to use another picture when the web site is shared?
I set up a web site to raise funds for my nephew(www.helpmatt.org) and social media randomly picks a picture on the share. Unfortunately this picture is from happier times and sends a different message than we would like to prospective contributors. Is there a way to set the picture that is used when this web site link is shared on social media? www.helpmatt.org

Increasing likes on Facebook - Strategies
What local strategies has anybody used in the past to boost the local likes of a Facebook page. The business concerned is a home improvements company covering a geographical area of the UK. What I would like to do is try and increase the number of likes from our potential target audience in cities and towns that we cover. I don't think Facebook ads are the right choice as many users just ignore them, but would be interested in online and offline marketing strategies that could be used to boost numbers to our Facebook page. The reason this is so important especially in the home improvement space is that most projects are awarded on word of mouth recommendations, so Facebook is the perfect platform.

Facebook guidlines for NPO
I've been trying to help a local chapter of a non-profit organisation set up a Facebook page (for free!) but the idea has been refused at the national level. I think from a lack of understanding of what good Facebook can do for their communication because even the page created for the whole NPO is very low on fans and hardly ever updated. I've got plenty of examples of NGOs doing well on Facebook. But what I'd love to find an example of an NGOs doing good work on Facebook through local chapters and (in my dreams) get my hands on guideline document that explains to local chapters how they should go about creating the page in accordance with the NGOs. Anyone out there have good examples ? Thanks Neil

Synnd.com and Related Sites
What is everyone thoughts on Synnd.com and other sites that try to manipulate the "social signals" aspect of SEO. Am I right for thinking that it is waste of time because it is not related to your niche and all the accounts in the network are just spam accounts with lots of spammy looking links that add no value. I just feel time spent getting a retweet about your site from related authority sites would do far more than a ton of crap ones.

How do website owners gain from facebook scams like this?
I've noticed two things that are going wild on Facebook this week: http://timhortonsgiveaway.me/ and http://promoforipads.net/ In the first scenario, you supposedly just click share and they'll send you a $25 Tim Horton's gift card. (For those who don't know Tim's it is a very popular coffee shop in Canada). There's no way this is happening...they claim to have something like 5000 cards to give away. In the second one they're apparently giving away 1000 ipods. Yeah...OK. So, they're obviously scams that are just trying to get a few zillion facebook shares. But why?

How does Google 'see' Facebook shares?
With Rand's new post about the correlation between FB Shares and rankings, I wanted to ask... How is Google able to see what links are being shared? Does the profile have to be public? Or do they get anonymous info direct from FB as part of some deal?

Widgets like Facebook Like and AddThis - Any Negative SEO?
I could go widget crazy with my website, there are so many cool buttons and linking this and likes and etc. There's one that is used a lot, called "Addthis" that adds a series of small icons to share a page via facebook, twitter, etc. The javascript looks innocent enough, but there's a link, and who knows what google makes of it. Then there are the dozen or so Facebook widgets - are they safe to use without negative SEO consequences? Does anyone know of any other pitfalls with using the numerous addons offered free to enhance your site? Thanks for any wisdom out there! Jean
