Ethical, Legal, or Deviously Awesome?

Howdy Moz!
Let's say we have a client out of Washington called "Acme Plumbing". Of course they rank #1 for their own brand, but the trouble we found is directly above in the PPC section.
It appears that a competitor is targeting the brand by including some of the branding in the ad itself. Specifically, it has the following format:
Acme Plumbing - Quality and Affordable Plumbing Service
acme.contractorreferral.net/plumbing
Submit zip code for free estimateClicking on the link takes you directly to a lead generation form. Considering the protection on the name (), is this ethical or even legal? Or do we just have competitor that found a sneaky way to try to divert traffic? Google's guidelines are clear about violations. What about general branding, especially with established companies and regional brands?

Maybe your competitor is using dynamic ad titles and not targeting your brand. Try entering "ABC plumbing" in Google and if title starts with "ABC plumbing" then you know they use dynamic ads.
Why dont you create ads for your brands and you will quickly be nr 1 on PPC section and also quickly see price drops and pay very little per click (at least most likely).
Let us assume they were targeting your brand: it is unlikely their conversion will be any good since users are looking for your brand.

Unfortunately, there is nothing illegal about what the competitor is doing. We have dealt with similar issues in the past with some of our clients and have found that the advertiser is not breaking Google's TOS. Technically speaking, the competing advertiser is completely within their rights, especially if the brand they are cloning is not officially trademarked.
This is not to say that it is ethical, however. As a marketer and advertiser I would personally have a hard time doing this myself or justifying my team in doing it. We often bid on competitor's names, but we never try to make it look like we are the competitor.
Is it clever? A little bit. Could it get you a positive ROI? Probably. Is it worth it? Nope. In many industries a strategy like this could destroy a company's reputation or ruin interindustry relationships. Personally, I believe the longterm consequences are not worth the temporary reward.

• googie-anaiytics[.]com
• vty68[.]net We have asked our Website vendor to scan and they found nothing. We would be greatly appreciated if you could help. I tried Google Search Console and even the tool Google Safe Browsing that Google itself suggested but both the tools showed that our website does not have any malicious links at all. And yet Google Ads support team keeps telling us our page contains these links. I am wondering if anyone in the community has experienced this before and how did you address this issue. Or could you guys please help to share any tools that you know can do a deep scan on this page and if possible our entire website to help us identify where the links are located? Please let me know if you need any additional information from us and I would be happy to provide it.3 -
Unsolved Google Ads Subdomain in sitelinks & Composition Change for Strategy Status
I have a basic query but could not find a definite answer on the internet. I am currently running a campaign for the main website of a big education brand and they also have a secondary learning website on subdomain, and I want to add sitelinks of subdomain to the campaign, but I am not sure whether it is allowed or not. The brand I am running ads for is https://www.rauias.com/ and the secondary website is https://compass.rauias.com/ branded slightly different in a subdomain, so should I add the sitelinks of Compass to the main campaign? Also one more silly question My Max Conversion search campaign gave me this status today. "Learning (composition change): Campaigns have been added to or removed from the bid strategy. Google Ads is now adjusting to optimize bids. 5 days left for learning" What does this mean exactly? And Why does it reenter the learning phase whenever I make a small change?

Unsolved How should I update the grouping of keywords in a google ads account
hi, I have a google adwords account running for a while in a fairly competitive market in a major city so there is only one geo location with many suburbs or council areas as popular searched. I have keywords that are 2-4 words long and very similar. I have had one keyword in its own campaign, several in one campaign and a location campaign. The location campaign has several adgroups for specific suburbs. My question is that the most popular search terms are similar but in different campaigns and I am wondering if this is not the best way. for example I have these keywords in separate campaigns as exact match and phrase match

rubbish removal Washington But the way google uses exact match seems to be changing and I am concerned these would be best in one adgroup. Also these keywords trigger similar phrases, for example, waste removal. Is it best to put them in one campaign with one ad group or one campaign with separate adgroups, or leave as is. As competition has increased I need to bid for top of page now and need to keep budget rises as little as possible..0 -
Keyword & negative keyword overlap
So I just read your blog on quality score and after reading the negative keyword section I'm a little confused and I need clarification. In that paragraph you mentioned about not overlapping your negative keywords with your active keywords and you used an example of dog food and dog bed. So my question is, if you put the word dog bed into the negative keyword list isn't the word dog the over lap word? Would you ad not show because the word dog is in the active keyword list?

What are the best advertising platforms for B2C?
Recently, Google ads stop being as effective. Same ads, cost, and web pages, but not getting the same results. Our budget is $4500/mo and need to get at least $25,000 in sales before increasing the budget. What ad platforms have you had success with?

How much website would be worth for SEO?
I have a website that I'm considering selling. It gives no profit, but I think it has decent SEO value. Link explorer report: domain authority = 69, linking domains: 9.8k, inbound links: 44.2m, ranking keywords: 294. Is that any good? Website is about web design, so keywords are also related to it. Would it be useful for SEO links building for other people? I did sell similar website once, but it was about 7-8 years ago and I've sold it for very high 5 digit amount. However things have changed since then in SEO world, so I don't know if today similar website would be worth much. There is so much information out there that contradicts each other, so I think I'd rather ask professionals here.
