Can we use similar images on multi regional websites?
-
I have couple of questions regarding multi regional websites. Right now, We're working on http://www.canvaschamp.com/ and planning to design new website for Australia region.
I have read Google's official guidelines regarding duplicate content on following URL.
https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/182192?hl=en
Now, I have biggest question regarding images and videos. We're going to use all photo gallery images on Australia website.
http://www.canvaschamp.com/canvas-prints
We may use similar name, title tag, meta description for all images.
So, Will it work for us? I want to save my website from duplicate content penalty.
I am looking forward for any additional help which may help me to perform better on different region with similar images.

Hello Tommy,
I am 100% agree to use hreflang to remove duplication issue. But, We're planning to go with TLD. And, We're getting issue to use similar images, content and meta on different region website.

Hi,
In additional to what Andy mentioned, there are a few ways to avoid duplicate content even though you are using the same content.
If you are targeting different locations, you can either use subdomains or subfolders for each location and by using the hreflang tag, you can tell Google which location you are targeting.
You can learn more about the hreflang here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/12/new-markup-for-multilingual-content.html

Ah sorry, I misunderstood the Title for meaning ALT text.
It is important to try and be as unique as possible with the page title. It can lead you into duplication problems, but more than that, you can fall into Keyword Duplication (cannibalisation) issues. This is where Google doesn't know which page to rank for a particular phrase.
The best way around this, is to come up with a naming strategy, where you can substitute words for something unique to the page.
For example "Buy Mona Lisa prints online" could be made up of "Buy <title>prints online" and you substitute the <title> for that particular image name.</p> <p>Of course, this just an example of how it works, and you can create a number of different templates to use. It is a good way to avoid having everything look and sound the same.</p> <p>-Andy</p></title>

Hello Andy,
I am 100% agree with you! And, Thank you very much for detail answer.
If we are talking about permission. So, We're using each and every images with 100% copyright permission.
What about title tag and meta description?
We're going to open similar page on Australia website...
http://www.canvaschamp.com/mona-lisa
And, We may use similar image, image name, description, title tag and meta description for that respective page...
What you suggest on it?

As you might be aware, Google is very clever when it comes to finding similar / same images around the web, but there is no penalty for using the same image in different sites at all. Just ensure that you have the correct permissions to use the images, as this is about the only stumbling block.
There will be no duplication penalty in doing this, but do try and make the ALT as descriptive and on-target as you can, and don't use any of these opportunities to spam keywords / phrases.

Is there a Risk Around Creating a Website for Each Country in The World?
Is there a risk around creating a website for each country in the world with similar to identical content depending on the language? We need to serve prices and the local currencies and be compliant with regulations. We're planning to use rel=canonical and HREFLANG tags to help with consolidation and GEO-targeting.

Multi-Country Hosting
Hi all
International SEO | | yousayjump
I have read a few post that are similar to mine on this forum but still wanted to ask my specific question. We have a .com domain hosted on a dedicated server in the UK for our main website which takes online bookings and payments. We have purchased the following TLD's of our domain name:
.it, .es, .ch, .fr, .es, .at We essentially want to create a satellite site on each domain where the idea is that users in those countries will find our satellite sites via organic search engine results when searching for the information we sell. Due to the nature of our infrastructure, each satellite site will connect to the mysql database on the UK site to drawn down its text content. This is where the main CMS is located. I understand the following are important from an SEO point of view for our satellite sites: Hosting in the country we wish to target
Geographical targeting via WMT
Local addresses and telephone numbers on the site
Correct lang=" " tag in the source code
Content presented in the correct language (goes without saying really) Can you advise on any other considerations? Many Thanks Kris0 -
Same website in different countries, best practices for SEO?
Hey Guys, I have read several similar questions regarding mine, but none seem to truly cover my question. Basically, we have a company named Junair. We created the website for the company here in Australia (http://www.junair.com.au). As can be seen throughout the page, it mentions that it caters for both Australia and NZ (NZ has its own phone number). It does ok in the rankings at the moment, but rankings will continue to rise in the future once more links are getting picked up. Now however, the Junair team in NZ purchased the NZ domain http://www.junair.co.nz and redirected it to the Australian page. No matter which page you visit on the NZ URL, the URL will never change, and neither will the page title. They have now contacted us and asked to perform SEO on the NZ domain so the NZ domain would show up in searches on Google NZ. At the moment, when searching for "Junair" on google.co.nz, the Australian domain is coming up. How could I change this so the NZ URL would show instead? And what would be the best practices to perform SEO on the NZ URL, should I just create links pointing to http://www.junair.co.nz ? Thank you, Roderic

Targeting specific Geographic areas. Use 1 large.Com or several smaller country specific TLDs?
Hi, I have a small number of exact match domains, both country specific TLDs and also the Generic TLD dot com and dot net. They are: ExactMatch**.Com**
International SEO | | Hurf
ExactMatch**.Net** ExactMatch**.Co.Uk**
ExactMatch**.Ca**
ExactMatch**.Co.Nz**
ExactMatch**.Co.Za** We have already successfully launched our UK site using the exact match .co.uk and this is currently number 2 in the UK SERPS for the Google, Yahoo and Bing. They are/will be niche specific classified ad sites, which are Geographically targeted by country (to Engish speakers in the main) and each region is likely to have a minumum of 2,000 unique listings submitted over the course of a year of so. My question (FINALLY) is this: Am I better to build one large global site (will grow to approx. 12,000 listings) using EXACTMATCH.Com with .com - targeting US users and then geo-targeted sub directories (ExactMatch.Com/Nz etc) - each sub dir targeted to the matching geographic area in webmaster tools, or use the ccTLDs and host each site in the country with perhaps (each site growing to approx 2,000 listings) I could use the ccTLDs just for marketing/branding onlyand redirect these to the specific sub directory of the .com site? I am aware that there is one main ccTLD that I cannot get .Com.Au (as I am not a resident of Australia - and it is already in use.) so I was wondering if the single site with .Com/AU/ etc might help me better target that country? If I use each ccTLD as separate sites I suppose I could use the largely redundant .net to target Australia? Your thoughts and advice would be most welcome. Thanks! An additional bit of intormation (or two) the .com is circa 2004. The product advertised is a reasonably bulky (perhaps 6kgs boxed) physical product and therefore the seller is unlikely to want to ship globally - will this make them shy away from a global site - even one divided into global sub sections? FYI Seller can specify in their listing Will Ship To ....... I would be open to looking at using the front page of the .Com site as a page which visitors select the country they wish to buy/sell on. (IF it is the general consensus that it is better to create one large site.) Consider also please how the end user is likely to percieve the benefits to them of one LARGE SITE versus TARGETED SITE - I know the .Com would be divided into geographic sub directories, but I am not sure if they won't see an additinal benefit to the ccTLD - Does this add a degree of reassurance and relevance that a .com/ccTLD cannot provide? I suppose I am biased by the fact that ebay use ccTLDs? Thanks again - and please forgive my tone which may suggest I am playing devil's advocate here. I am very torn on this issue.0
