Regarding Avoiding Keyword Self-Cannibalization
-
I ran some of my pages through the 'on-page report card' and one thing that kept popping up was to Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization.
I thought the best SEO practice was to have anchor text at the end of your article that matched your target keywords. Is this not accurate? Please let me know the best practice so I can make sure my pages are all optimized correctly. Thanks.
Here is an example:

It's good to have internal links through-out the body copy (not too many though) as long as they point to relevant pages within the site... just not using the anchor text of the keyword for the page you're on... if that makes sense
-
ok, i see your point....should there be an internal link in the last sentence or did i dream that was good practice? thanks for your advice!
-
If, through your on and off-page SEO your telling Google that page x is relevant for keyword y, then the last thing you want to do is link out of that page with keyword y as the anchor text.
If you think about it, it's confusing for the search engine... everything your telling it is that for keyword y, see page x. Then, on page x, you have a link which says, actually, see page z for keyword y. You're passing it on to a different page for that keyword through using it as anchor text.
Hope that helps

Keyword cannibalization
Hello - We have a blog that ranks for 124 different keywords (URL: https://www.clickboarding.com/18-jaw-dropping-onboarding-stats-you-need-to-know/), and it's cannibalizing other keywords that I'm writing blogs specifically for. For example, the blog mentioned above ranks for "employee onboarding process," and I have a different blog I wrote with "employee onboarding process" as the focus keyword that's not ranking at all. Any suggestions or insight is hugely appreciated! Julie K.

I have used my keyword only 12 times but on-page grader shows it 40 times?
Hey experts, I hope you are doing great, kindly have a look at this page, my keyword for this page is "Sports Streaming Sites". The text has a length of 5344 words and I'm using my keyword in this post as follow: 1. Text Body: 12 times(including headers)
Moz Pro | | louisaclark1
2. Alt tags: 10 times (20+ Images)
3. Title: 1 Time
4. Description: 1 Time
5. Permalink: 1 Time This is a total of 25 times in 5344 words, but when I check this page with moz on-page grader, it shows that I'm using this keyword 40 times and its stuffed, can anybody please explain it to me, I'm so confused and it'll be so nice of you. Keyword rankings and main company tagline not matching
I have a question about keywords rankings and on page keywords. I don't rank very well for the keyword "Nutcracker". But, my tag line is "Your one stop Nutcracker and Ballet Gifts source". One of my most important keywords is "Nutcrackers" (see the s 😉 ) and I hot hit really hard in my rankings with the google algorithm update. Almost a 30 position difference from one day to the next. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having Nutcracker being in the forefront, even though my chances of ranking for that are very low as there is high competition with more actual "The Nutcracker" related content. I do have the word "nutcrackers" on my home page...but all of a sudden I feel like i'm wasting space, or I should have made the tagline "Your one stop Nutcrackers and Ballet Gifts source". It just doesn't sound as good. I just recently dove headfirst into SEO and moz, so I consider myself a noob, but I learn quite quickly. Thank you for your help! No longer in top 100 for branded keyword - How!?
Got a weird one here... Won't give away actual URL but for this example let's say client's site is: www.purplebananas.com Many of the longtail keyword-targeted subpages/posts are still ranking pretty well. We recently went through and optimized the site based on poor scores we found from crawl reports from SEO Moz, which included renaming some sub-pages, eliminating duplicate content pages, archives, etc (it's a wordpress site, about 4 years old). This site used to rank at the top or near it for the search "purple bananas". However, after we optimized the site it's almost completely fallen off the radar of Google, turns up way over 100 for the search "purple bananas". Strangely, if we search "purplebananas" we're at the top still. Any idea what's going on here? Are we potentially over-optimized or something weird for our own brand!? Any troubleshooting tips? FWIW the changes were made about 6 weeks ago and while we're steadily building links, I don't think this is the standard "Google dance". Thanks!

Keyword Difficulty / Search Volume
Hello all, What do you think about using Keyword Difficulty divided by Search Volume as an alternative to keyword efficiency indexes? ETA: Obviously this wouldn't be a hard and fast metric, but a general indicator to be taken into account along with other data.

Why would the SEOMoz Page analysis pick up exact keywords used in page title and text?
Hi, I am trying to optimise this URL : www.adaptiveconsultancy.com/ecommerce/features/advanced-ecommerce with the keyword being 'advanced ecommerce' With the 'On-Page Report Card' from SEOMoz that the exact keyword isn't featured in the page title or text, but it is in there. Why would this not be picked up? Thank you in advance,

FB Shares in SEOmoz Keyword Analysis Tool
Hello everybody, I'm quite confused in how to understand "FB Shares" in SEOmoz Keyword Analysis Tool Report. As You may know, this section is under report's "Social Signals" category. Does this number counts whole FB shares of some website links by ALL FB users? Or is it a number of some website FB account posts? Some clearance would be very helpful.. The same question applies to other social signal reports: Tweets, Google+ shares. Thank You for your answer! Happy New Year!

SEOmoz v's Google Webmaster Keyword Ranking
Hi, how accurate is SEOmoz keyword ranking v's Google Webmaster? Some Keywords in SEOmoz say I'm in position 3 in Ireland for some Keywords and in Google Webmaster they are figures like 16. I understand in Google Webmaster that the keyword position is an Average What should I be going by and what is the credibility of both ranking estimators?
