BizaarVoice Cloud SEO: Canonical Query String
-
We've implemented BazaarVoice with the latest Cloud SEO.
As an eComm site, BV helps us manage our own reviews along with currating reviews from vendors on product pages that don't have any. Only a maximum of 7 reviews are displayed at one time and any additional are on a "next" page.
BV has asked to include a query string (?bvrrp=...) on our canonical tags that would allow SEs to read the additional reviews.
For example, the current canoncial URL will go from this
http://www.sitename.com/item/product-name/123456789
to
Having more crawlable UGC is advantagous but I'm skeptical about adding this. Just looking for any guidance.
Thanks!

Hello WMCA,
Does BV want you to add that rel ="canonical" tag to the main product page, or just the paginated review pages. If the former, I say no way. If the latter, we should discuss further. It could be advantageous, but I'd rather send the authority to the main product page instead.

SEO and former site
Hi, my client had a site built and hosted with Avvo but we now shut it down and are using a new server. My concern is that Avvo's internal link structure is causing SEO issues. For example, his site will list for "San Diego Criminal Defense Attorney", but is then removed for no reason. Far worse, while he had the AVVO site, it would never rank at all on Google. He's got great content, and no spammy links. This is the site: www.thesandiegocriminallawyer.com. Any thoughts of what I could do to disavow the AVVO pages that Google still has indexed? Does it matter? Or, is it simply a function of time? Thank you for your help.

Do you see issues with this set up from an organic seo perspective and so many links from one domain pointing back into the main site?

Alternative to rel canonical?
Hello there, we have a problem. Let's say we have a website www.mainwebsite.com Then you have 40 websites like this: www.retailer1.mainwebsite.com www.retailer2.mainwebsite.com www.retailer3.mainwebsite.com www.retailer4.mainwebsite.com www.retailer5.mainwebsite.com www.retailer6.mainwebsite.com … an so on In order to avoid the duplicate content penalty from Google we've added a rel="canonical" in each 40 sub-websites mapping each page of them to www.mainwebsite.com Our issue is that now, all our retailers (each owner of www.retailer-X.mainwebsite.com) are complaining about the fact that they are disappeared from Google. How can we avoid to use rel="canonical" in the sub-website and not being penalised by Google for duplicate content in www.mainwebsite.com? Many thanks, all your advices are much appreciated. Canonical URL Tag Usage

Is having a canonical tag for the link that IS the canonical a negative thing?
Throughout our site, canonical tags have been added where needed. However, the canonical tags are also included for the canonical itself. For example, for www.askaquestion.com, the canonical tag has been added as www.askaquestion.com. Will this have a negative impact or does it not really matter whether there is such a loop?
