Anyone have any insight on phone number tracking issues?
-
I suppose this is somewhat of a stretch for SEO, but probably still falls under the Search Marketing umbrella. My ecommerce site issues a specific phone number to the user based on the referral path they used to get to the site (i.e. Our print media will have #A printed on it, while users that find the site via Organic Google Search will see #B, and etc... for other referral paths).
Recently, we've seen a fairly significant dip in phone calls via the Organic Google Search telephone number. We've tried troubleshooting the issue and there doesn't appear to be a programming issue and our sales numbers do not reflect the change in call traffic. However, we have noticed that when visiting our website via encrypted.google.com, our default web number is being displayed, rather than the intended Organic Google Search telephone number. Do people still use encrypted.google.com?
The dip in the phone traffic began in February and had continued to drop through April. Has anyone seen anything similar or possibly dealt with a similar issue that you can offer some insight on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I would recommend using tossible digits then. Each number is only a few dollars a month, and they have an on site tracking system which allows you to see all calls, with dates, call duration, and time of call.
Another benefit is you can enable email tracking, which sends an mp3 of the phone call to the email(s) of your choice once the call is over. Very affordable, excellent features. I think this would work better for what you are trying to accomplish. We have used them for 3 years now with no issues.
Hope this helps!

Hi David, thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
We're mostly just using JavaScript to exchange the telephone numbers and cookies to keep track.
Essentially, we would use a different telephone number for each directory/broker-site/search engine/etc... that we saw significant traffic from (enough traffic to warrant a unique telephone number).

What is the code you are using to exchange the numbers, or is it hard-coded on each page for tracking purposes?
Is this the same number that is listed on citation sites, and directories?
We use tracking numbers, and use tossible digits as the vendor.

Can anyone tell me how these are pulled?
Hi Guys, I look after multiple automotive brands websites and one of my sites is getting these images (see screenshot) pulled and placed into search results. When you click on them it then takes you to the model page of that specific vehicle. You can also scroll to the left and more vehicle images will appear. I'm trying to figure out how these are pulled and what i can do to get them on my other website search results - any ideas? Thanks,

Google crawled "Cross Domain" links. Is this an issue? if yes then how we can remove it?
We have two sites. One site for US (site.com)and another is for India(site.co.in). Redirection is working based on ip address and location. So if I write US(site.com) site link in India location then it will automatically redirect to India site(site.co.in). We have given a link in the header of the site which will be used to open another country site. Example : Currently India site open in my browser so it contain US site link. and US site open in my browser so it contain India site link. We check on google web master and we found back links of cross domains so Is it an issue?

Rank Tracking Software
I am looking for a software to track all keywords my website is ranking for. I am aware that SEMrush can accomplish this, but as I am paying for mOz already, I was looking for something less expensive. mOz has a feature to track keywords that drive traffic to your website by linking it to your google analytics, but I want to find more than that...I want EVERYTHING. Does anyone know/use this kind of software *Please comment with specific programs/software/tools in your response. I need real suggestions. I'm not looking for the Matt Cutts "cookie cutter" answer (like what I did there?) like "you should search your analytics for words you're already ranking for". Thanks!
