Does having all client websites on same server/same Google Analytics red flag Google?
-
If you have several clients, and they are all on the same server, and also under ONE Google Analytics account, will that negatively impact with Google? They all have different content and addresses, some have the same template, but with different images.
-
We try to make sure that we have a different link profile for each of our cllients and that we have the Google Plus page in the clients name. We have not seen a issue with having all the google plus accounts and google WMT in our email.
copyscape.com is a great tool to double check duplicate content and find out what is getting flagged.

Don't need a separate computer just use a proxy service when logging in So your not using the same IP.
-
Great. Thanks Cyrus. A related question, I am developing a website that I want to make sure Google does not see that it is related in any way to the others. I'm going to host it on different server, set up G-webmaster tools and G-Analytics separate from everything else, use different email to set up. Should I also use a different computer to develop it? Is there anything else I should consider?
(also, that black helicopter over my house last night...was it Google?
-
Shouldn't be a problem except when the following issues arise:
- Duplicate content - easy to do when you're dealing with clients in the same niche. This actually has nothing to do with being on the same server, but I thought I'd mention it
- Unnatural interlinking between these sites.
In a normal world, there's probably no reason for these clients to link to each other. If you are doing a lot of linking between them in order to influence rankings, THAT could raise a red flag to Google. More than likely, they simply won't count the links. Worse case scenario you get a manual penalty.
On the other hand, it's completely normal to host sites on the same server, even with a common Google Analytics account. If you're not building a link network and have unique content, you shouldn't have much to worry about.
-
But we all have several clients. And I'm sure there are some who have several clients in the same vertical space. I wonder what are others doing to deal with this?
-
Yes I think this could give an algo penalty to the clients. You never know how the big G will perceive it. But better to be safe and keep everything separated.
Good find on the white board video that's got a ton of useful info.

Thanks for your response. So, if I have 10 chiropractor clients, all in different cities, with different custom content (but related because they are chiropractors), you think Google will penalize them all? Is there a way around this? I am not putting up many sites to saturate a market, these are separate clients I am trying to rank in their markets.
Thanks for your insights!

I just found this http://moz.com/blog/how-google-knows-what-sites-you-control-and-why-it-matters-whiteboard-friday . FYI.
-
Looks like your trying to cover a particular key term. Building a bunch of sites and trying to get them all ranked on P1 so you saturate the market. It's been done way to much. Google is very smart in detecting these things and it will effect the rankings. The fact you have them all linked in 1 login is a big Neon Billboard not a small red flag. They have already logged your email and associated everything to those domains. These sites will now just be valid burn sites you can dump later.
-
Hi! Yes, similar subject matter, no interlinking. All different business addresses.
-
Are they same or similar products or subject matter? Do you have any interlinking of the sites?
-
This shouldn't cause any issues whatsoever as long as you aren't doing anything manipulative or blackhat. This is fairly common.

Google Pagination Changes
What with Google recently coming out and saying they're basically ignoring paginated pages, I'm considering the link structure of our new, sooner to launch ecommerce site (moving from an old site to a new one with identical URL structure less a few 404s). Currently our new site shows 20 products per page but with this change by Google it means that any products on pages 2, 3 and so on will suffer because google treats it like an entirely separate page as opposed to an extension of the first. The way I see it I have one option: Show every product in each category on page 1. I have Lazy Load installed on our new website so it will only load the screen a user can see and as they scroll down it loads more products, but how will google interpret this? Will Google simply see all 50-300 products per category and give the site a bad page load score because it doesn't know the Lazy Load is in place? Or will it know and account for it? Is there anything I'm missing?

I've got duplicate pages. For example, blog/page/2 is the same as author/admin/page/2\. Is this something I should just ignore, or should I create the author/admin/page2 and then 301 redirect?
I'm going through the crawl report and it says I've got duplicate pages. For example, blog/page/2 is the same as author/admin/page/2/ Now, the author/admin/page/2 I can't even find in WordPress, but it is the same thing as blog/page/2 nonetheless. Is this something I should just ignore, or should I create the author/admin/page2 and then 301 redirect it to blog/page/2?

Does putting a Google custom search box on make Google think my users are bouncing?
I added a Google custom search box to my pages, that's doing an advanced Google search. A lot of people are using it. So users are coming to my site from a Google search, and then often performing another Google search on my site. Should I be worried that Google may interpret the resultant user behavior as a bounce or pogo-stick? Or will the fact that the second search occurred on my site, using custom search, and with advanced parameters signal to Google that this is not a dissatisfied user returning to Google? Thanks

Google Webmasters not Accurate
I recently updated all the Meta titles, descriptions and keywords on my website because in the past most were duplicate and/or written in the incorrect language. According to Webmaster Tools they have indexed our site post update, but we still have the same number of HTML issues. When I click to investigate the issues further it is clear they are reflecting the old Meta not the new stuff we just added. Should this fix itself the next time Google crawls my site or is there something else I should be doing about the issue? Thanks!
