Pinterest and cloud hosting
-
Hi
We have our images hosted on amazon cloud to speed up the site but we are having problems with pinning our images on pinterest. We can only pin them from the cloud host url which looks really bad and also doesnot send any traffic to our site.
Any suggestions?

You could consider using a different CDN set up. You could use something like MaxCDN and host them locally and in the cloud. That way you would have direct access to the images on your server as well for pinning and other social media purposes.

Should my images on Pinterest point to the affiliate links or back to my site?
I have a affiliate site that involves handmade boots (i.e. cowboy boots, hinking boots, etc...). I currently put pics of them on my sites with a affiliate link. After I do this, I use the Pinterest browser button in chrome and add them to my Pinterest account. It adds these images to my Pinterest account with the affiliate link. Should I be doing this or should I be adding them to my Pinterest with links to my website?

Do having social sharing icons such as Twitter and Pinterest slow down site speed?
We are debating a redesign of a travel site and wondering whether having social sharing buttons including Pinterest and Facebook above each image would slow down site speed and therefore have a negative impact on our rankings. We are deciding between having the icons above each image or just in the side bar of all pages. Many thanks, Penny

Does Pinterest's javascript removes rel="nofollow" ?
It's late and I might be seeing things disappear...but I noticed something strange with a Pin It button we added in our website: I added a rel="nofollow" to the <a href="">for Pinterest, however when I use the html inspector in IE or Firefox, and inspect the attributes of the link, 'rel=nofollow' is nowhere to be found.</a> <a href="">Did anyone notice this?

Does Pinterest's javascript remove the 'rel' attribute? (looks like it's the case)
How does google treats this? Do they interpret the .js and ignore the 'rel=nofollow'? I hope it's a technical error on my end, otherwise thousands of website owners are being tricked into believing that they added a rel=nofollow, when in fact it's just being removed behind the scene.</a>0 -
What's the value of Twitter and Pinterest links?
Just wondering should part of my regular activities include sharing certain URL's to these social networks? Presumably it requires constantly mentioning random pages as part of an ongoing nature... Any pointers? thanks

Employing Pinterest for SEO gain.
Hi I wanted to see if the SEO team have had any feedback from members who have started to use Pinterest. I've had it for a month or so now and I've been adding pins every day since - (quite addictive actually). What is interesting is the gender element to the people who are following and repinning my pins and boards i.e. female. It would be interesting to understand why this the case, why is it so popular with female users. Ultimately I'm tyring to guage the benefits of employing Pinterest for SEO purposes and whether its worth keeping it in my arsenal of social tools. Any insights welcome. http://pinterest.com/visualizations Best David

Is there any SEO benefit to hosting your Facebook photos on your own site?
I will often post photos that I have taken to my Facebook page (either personal or my fan page). Sometimes these can get lots of likes. I got thinking that perhaps I host these photos on my site (i.e. www.example.com/images/photo1.jpg) and then share that "page" on Facebook. That way any of the likes would be counted towards my site. What do you guys think?

How do I get searchable image hosting in the cloud?
My company currently uses Picasa to host our images and links to them on our website. However, we'd really love to have our images start showing up in searches. Is there a way to get maintain our Picasa (or use another, similar site) and get the images searched by webcrawlers to say we are the source? Or do we simply need to start hosting all of the images on our own servers? Thanks!
