SEO best practices and online store?
-
Hey guys,
I'm just starting a company and had a few questions regarding how we should structure our online store.
The store is currently selling skins for consoles, phones - and we have wall decals too, as well as fridge wraps.
I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best structure of things?
Should I, for instance, have a single "Xbox One Wrap" product page with multiple variations as an option?
Or should I have individual product pages for each different style?
I feel like putting all the weight on a single Xbox One Wrap page is great, but I also feel like having more content out there for each product probably isn't terrible either?
Suggestions?
The site is www.FapWrap.com so you can check it out - it's original photos we are taking of adult stars, but eventually will be for "Sexy" people in general. Heh.

Yeah, I've had an issue w duplicate content (not actually on the site yet, but just personally as I've worked on plenty of other sites that were not ecommerce) and actually asking this question made me dig deeper.
I've figured out my appropriate structure and how to keep the strength I've already created.
I have variable descriptions for each product, no matter how similar - right now, but I would much prefer to give one page a HUGE staying power rather than spreading the net thin to get results and realizing later that I had way more to manage than I should just to keep the great Google happy.
I appreciate the response!

The problem you must be aware of is Duplicate Content. This can hurt your rankings and result in a Google penalty.
Creating one page with the variants and options is generally preferred and safer. If you want more content and that's a great idea, consider a Blog to give your users a better experience on your site and help establish you as an expert in your field. Sure it's more work, but it can really differentiate your site.
Do a search here for "Duplicate Content" as this is a common question for eCommerce sites.
Best of Luck!

Does CNAME impact SEO?
I've recently brought on Pardot. For Campaign ROI tracking, I'm supposed to add a CNAME (I'm using .go) with /source to each source of possible first touches, like Google My Business or an industry directory. For example, to track referrals and $ROI from a directory, I'm supposed to use go.myURL.com/directoryname. Does using go. and /source have a negative impact on my SEO? Thanks for your help.

Onsite SEO tools
i have been working on an SEO site and I wanted to add a website checker tool to my home page to help keep users on my site for longer and start interacting. Are there any available scripts for a website tester that I can place onto my home page? This way when a user lands on my website they can check their "score" and then they can read more about how we came up with this number or what they can do to help it etc..

2 SEO questions
Hello everyone 🙂 I have two questions for all you fine seo people this morning... 1 - Is there a website that I could go to to make sure that I do not have duplicate content floating around on the web that I am not aware of? Sometimes people take information from my site and post it as their own and I want to make sure that google does not ping me for it. 2 - Does anyone know how I can report a spam site to google? I have filled out the reports many times over the past year and posted it in the webmaster discussion forum and it is still up there 🙂 I sent one email to bing and the next day they contacted me with a thank you email and indicated that I was 100% correct and they removed the site from their index. Thank you all!!!!

Any ideas about using research tools data to create client interest in dedicating marketing spend on SEO services vs their other current antiquated marketing methods?
I consult in the dental industry. Many professionals in this industry are operating in the dark ages when it comes to marketing. Any ideas about using research tools data to create client interest in dedicating marketing spend on SEO services vs their other current antiquated marketing methods? I am approaching potential clients to pitch SEO. They aren't necessarily seeking SEO services currently but have a strong marketing budget. I would like to use seomoz tools data about their site and competitors as way to show possibilities/potential of SEO services to gain interest in further discussion of SEO benefits.

SEO Industry Contracts, Resumes, & Jobs
We're in the process of looking to hire link builders & content managers in the Chicago area. While I know it's not a "core function" of SEOmoz, the SEO Industry Jobs section has been very helpful to us. Unfortunately, it's not easily searchable/filterable by geography. I think the Moz resume & job-board could be a lot more helpful with some updates, including filter by geography. Anyone else have any suggestions?
