Structured Data Questions
-
I am showing 2 items with errors. These products have both been removed from the site, and will trigger a 404 Page Not Found. I am still seeing the page URLs in Webmaster Central > Search Appearance > Structured Data. They are shown as items with errors, the errors being that they are missing price too.
Should I 301 redirect these on an htaccess file, or should I remove the page url in some other way from Google?
Also, I have a site with over 50,000 products and 2,000 category level pages. In Structured Data, there are only 2,848 items. Does it seem like Google is collecting very little data compared to how many urls I have on my site?

How long have the items been showing an error? Webmaster tools seems to be a little slow some times. I made a small mistake in my markup that caused me to have errors. It is now been fixed but it has just slowly been declining for 3 weeks and still has quite a ways to go.

How should you determine the preferred URL structure?
Hi Guys, When migrating to a new CMS which include new pages how should you determine the URL structure, specifically: So should we include www. or without it? Should the URL have a trailing slash? How would you determine the answer to these questions? Cheers.

Robots.txt question
I notice something weird in Google robots. txt tester I have this line Disallow: display= in my robots.text but whatever URL I give to test it says blocked and shows this line in robots.text for example this line is to block pages like http://www.abc.com/lamps/floorlamps?display=table but if I test http://www.abc.com/lamps/floorlamps or any page it shows as blocked due to Disallow: display= am I doing something wrong or Google is just acting strange? I don't think pages with no display= are blocked in real.

Schema question
Hi all, We have two Trustpilot schemas (Local Business) on our web pages ( One on desktop / one on mobile) but we are finding that it is not updating the number of reviews in the search results. When using the tool : https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/ , the test results are coming back ok. I have two ideas as to why it may not be working; 1) The duplication of the schema code is causing issues 2) We had to change the html code for all of our 50+ backend pages using a search&replace WordPress plugin to save a vast amount of time. Maybe this is plugin related? The fact that the google testing tool gives back positive results adds to the confusion. I test both of the theorised issues to see if it provides a fixes. Can anyone shed some further light on this issue? Is there something obvious I am missing? All responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom p.s. Is adwords data in organic ranking relevant?
we have noticed that without our adwords, our bounce rate is about half (outstanding rate) as compared to when we enable adwords (relatively bad). This of course amplifies across the board for other engagement metrics. So basically it looks like our website is not deemed too relevant and engaging when we bring in PC as compared to organic views. Does anyone have information if the search engines use this data without correcting out the PC visitors brought through adwords? this would mean to us that without having adwords we have a much better chance of ranking organically. very curious about what your experiences are as experts! Thank you in advance! Cheers, Nima

Duplicate Content Question
We are getting ready to release an integration with another product for our app. We would like to add a landing page specifically for this integration. We would also like it to be very similar to our current home page. However, if we do this and use a lot of the same content, will this hurt our SEO due to duplicate content?

Advice on URL structure for competing against EMDs of a hot keyword
Here is the question, illustrated with an example: A law client focuses on personal injury. Their domain is nondescript. The question comes into the URL structure for an article section of the site (I think I know what most people here will say, but want to raise this anyway). This section will have several hundred 'personal injury' articles at launch, with 100+ added each month by writers. Most articles do not mention 'personal injury' in the titles or in the content, but focus on the many areas in which people can hurt themselves :-). Spreading a single keyword emphasis across many pages/posts is considered poor form by many, but the counter-argument is that hundreds of articles, all with 'personal injury' in the URL, could increase the overall authority of the site for that term (and may compete more strongly with EMD competitors). For instance, let's say Competitor A has this article: www.acmepersonalinjury.com/articles/tips-if-in-car-accident And we had the following options: Option A: www.baddomain.com/articles/tips-if-in-car-accident Option B: www.baddomain.com/personal-injury-articles/tips-if-in-car-accident Of course, for the term "car accident", Option A seems on equal footing with the ACME competitor. But, what about the overall performance of the "personal injury" keyword (a HOT keyword in this space)? Would ACME always have an advantage (however slight) due to its domain? Would Option B help in this regard? The downside of course is that this pushes "car accident" further down in the URL string, making all articles perhaps less competitive on their individual keywords.

Most efficient way to change site structure?
I would like to change my sites structure to be more efficient for SEO. I have a fear that the changes will have a potential impact on my current rankings, but know this would be a good long term decision. My site is wordpress, so the changes are relatively easy to make. What are some ways to change the site structure without damaging your rank? I would have to have to clean up a bunch of errors, so is the best way to simply do 301 redirects on the old pages?
