"&" in search for site:domain.com
-
Hi,
a few days ago we talked to a seo agency.
They told us something about the "site:" search, that we hadn't heard before.
As they told us, a search for "site:domain.com/&" would give you the number of relevant pages that Google indexed for your domain. We tested this search with some domains. Lots of the results showed up to 25% less indexed pages, than the search for site:domain.com/
Has anyone heard of this before, or is it just a sales gimmick?

Not sure about the & (That doesn't mean it's not true) however if you are interested in search operators have a look here on Moz : http://moz.com/blog/25-killer-combos-for-googles-site-operator
If you want to know how many pages are indexed by Google then use the WMT here http://www.google.com/webmasters/

We use SLI for our searches and are thinking of just going back to the searches on our platfrom Bigcommerce
Does anyone have any experience with the advantages of using a search product like SLI in comparison to the search available on Bigcommerce. We currently use SLI for the searches on our site but think over the years we have been using SLI that the searches on Bigcommerce have improved and we are thinking of switching back to using the Bigcommerce search. Regards Adrienne

Why has our site had a huge spike in referral traffic?
Starting last week, our site had a HUGE spike in referral traffic from: search.dnsassist.verizon.net. We have never had a visit from there until last week, and had 12K visits last week so something is happening. The traffic does look normal though, all visits were in the US from 700 cities and pages/visit, avg visit duration and bounce rate are close to site average. There is a few other referral sites that showed up last week as well: wind.search-help.net, uslc.search-help.net, finder.cox.net. All of these sites are low, around 30 to 50 visits a day, but we had not any referrals until last week. I did notice most of these sites state "Explore with Yahoo Search." Just wondering if anyone has every seen this before and wondering what is happening. Thanks for reading. <colgroup><col width="207"></colgroup>

If i rank for BRAND-NAME.com for my salon, will it hurt my rankings if i make a BRANDNAMEbeautyshop.co.uk for my shop?
I'm looking into starting eCommerce retail shop, off the back of my salon's success. Yet I'm split into using a cart software on my excising domain or a multi-channel shopping software on a new .co.uk linked via the menu of my salon domain. Ideally i could proceed and use both domains for the one company just to clarify: my salon domain is uk targeted and is "www.Brand-Name.com" (with - seperating brand words) my proposed shop domain is uk targeted "www.BrandNameBeautyShop.com" Any ideas if it would hurt my campaign to do such a thing?
