Old/wrong meta-titles in index
-
Hi,
We have problems with old Meta titles in the index of google.nl. If you look for example at this wine:
https://www.wijnvoordeel.nl/Italie/Just-Hugo::5460.html
The Meta tile is: **Just Hugo | Heerlijke Hugo | Het zomerdrankje van 2014 | Wijnvoordeel **
If you look at the results in Google:
https://www.google.nl/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#safe=active&q=just hugo
The Meta tile is: Just Hugo - Wijnvoordeel(this is an old/automatic generated Meta tile).
I already added the code "", but I don't see any progress. Does anybody knows what could be the problem?
Thanks for the help!

How long ago did you make the changes, it sometimes takes a little time for the meta data to be recrawled, resubmitted and indexed, I often don't see a change for a few days. I am going to presume if the meta was automated you are using a CMS of some sorts. Might be an idea to check your installation and settings to make sure you have cleared and reset them, upgraded them and also possibly reset your cache.
Google sometimes reallocates meta description to something that is more appropriate, but I have not seen it in titles.
I would imagine someone will probably have a better answer. But you can at least tick these of the list on the way to your solution.

You could extend that meta robots tag a bit: name="robots" content="index, follow, noarchive, noodp" />
But depending on when you made the change, it may just be a caching issue - it was cached on Sept. 8, 2014.
You can use Google's Fetch as Google or Structured Data Testing Tools in Webmaster Tools to make sure the title tag is showing up properly for the next time Google crawls, but I doubt that expedites anything.
Probably just need to wait for them to crawl you again and update their index.

Why is wrong domain being indexed?
We have 2 domains: revolve.com and fwrd.com (unrelated to each other, but hosted on the same server). If you do a site search for revolve.com but enter a designer brand that is only carried on FWRD (not on Revolve), the domain "revolve.com" pops up in the SERP, which is redirected to FWRD.com. Ex. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site%3Awww.revolve.com isabel marant Why is Google indexing the revolve.com pages, which don't actually exist? Thanks.

DNS Settings went wrong....
Hi, I'm going to have to give you a little bit of a back story here... In July last year we launched a brand new website, www.turnkeylandlords.co.uk. It was on a new domain. The IT department set it live, and unfortunately messed up the DNS settings so that the site was launched under the wrong domain, smartloan.co.uk. This error was rectified within hours. Unfortunately in those few hours, Google indexed it! I then had to set up webmaster tools for both domains, so I could use the 'remove URLs' tool in there, to remove all the URLs from the smartloan domain. That all worked fine, the Landlords site was probably set back a bit, but we're now achieving some quite good results for it. 2 weeks ago we launched Smartloan as a product, and of course launched the website we've been working on for months... You guessed it! Google is now looking for all those old Landlords pages under Smartloan. My first thought is that we should do 301s. Would that be the best course of action, do you think? Webmaster tools has found 25 of them so far, but I know there are more - the Landlords site launched with about 90 pages... And where should I send the 301's? To the Landlords site, or to the smartloan root? Is there anything else I should do? Thanks for your help! Amelia

Indexing issue?
Hey guys when I do a search of site:thetechblock.com query in Google I don't seem to see any recent posts (nothing for August). In Google webmaster I see that the site is being crawled (I think), but I'm not sure. I also see the the sitemaps are being indexed but again it just seems really odd that I'm not seeing these in Google results. SEO seems all good too with SEO Moz. Is there something I'm not getting?

Help choosing titles
Good evening guys, I changed my titles last month, in preparation for the over optimisation penalty and the result was an instant and quite dramatic loss in traffic. I believe the reason is, the change resulted in a lot of duplicate titles. My website is similar to deviant art, but for mobile phones. So the titles include the brand of mobile phone for example. The titles were: Upload name + Brand + Content type - 3 tags - FILEID So an example would be Black Nokia wallpaper - black, abstract, grey - 12345 I changed them to Black Nokia wallpaper by artist name on domain name. But this resulted in thousands of duplicate titles and a dramatic loss in traffic. For example a user could upload 20 black wallpapers. With this in mind, I need to change my titles and fast. But I don't want to make another mistake. The one I am quite keen to try is: Black Nokia Wallpaper - Tag1, tag2 wallpapers - on domain name. So the main variable would be the name of the upload and then the 2 tags, to mix things up a little. Another option would be to throw the file ID in there somewhere? As that will always be unique. Perhaps the file ID could be in the place of the "wallpapers" after the two tags? I'd like to keep the domain name, for branding reasons. Any other suggestions are warmly welcomed. Thanks a lot.

Site comparison - what is wrong with me?
www.bcspeakers.com/ vs www.psbspeakers.com/ with the search term "speakers" why does BC speakers show up in around #50-60 and PSB is not in the top #1000? From all metrics on seomoz PSB kicks BC in every area by a large margine! can anyone see why BC is listed for that keyword and PSB is not?

301 or 302 - www.yoursite.com/uk/content
If your website CMS forces you to redirect from the homepage should it be a 301 or 302 Example includes www.direct.gov.uk which 302's it My view is that it should be a 302 in this instance and almost all others should be a 301 - the reason for this is that you want the www.direct.gov.uk to be the "primary" and one that is displayed in Google, whereas for anything else you want the URL of the location. Yes I know that ideally you don't have any redirection at all...
