Can you redirect old abandoned Twitter/Facebook accounts?
-
My client has a Facebook profile and a Twitter account that they have abandoned. These pages also have old branding and we would like to redirect these pages in some way to the current Facebook and Twitter accounts.
I did find this article but it's 3 years old and not sure this is works: http://www.thesearchagents.com/2011/12/how-to-do-a-301-redirect-on-twitter-even-though-twitter-doesnt-allow-it/
What's the best way to do this?
-
Hi RosemaryB,
AFAIK, no - you cannot implement a 301 redirect from an old FB/Twitter profile to your new one.
The business should minimize the old profile (remove any unnecessary content) and put up a description/text about the new company's handle/page/twitter. You could also send out an email blast with the updated profile and make sure to check the old accounts for any straggler users that find the old profile and need to be redirected to the new profile.

Twitter Account Locked Issue
Hi, Has anyone experienced issues unlocking Twitter accounts that has a mobile phone connected with it that is no longer valid? I have situation where an account is locked and in order to unlock this a code must be sent to the mobile number that was originally used to set this account up but the number in question is now obsolete and not in use. I've made numerous attempts to contact Twitter's customer service but they are almost non-existent and not unresponsive. Does anyone have any suggestions how I can resolve this or know a direct contact email or number for Twitter? Kind Regards

Identifying members on Twitter
We are a member based company. Membership is by business not individual. So for instance if your widget business is a member anyone with a johndoe@widget.com email address can sign up and use all our content, portals, etc. I want to take emails and figure out if they are on Twitter. I know Twitter allows you to search your contact list but this wouldn't be that. It would be a list of emails I create. Are there any tools or suggestions to do this in a efficient way besides searching each individual name on Twitter? Thanks for the help.

How should I structure my facebook like buttons?
I have a facebook like button on my homepage. Currently, it points to my facebook page, so every time someone likes this button they are liking my facebook page. Is this how it should be structured? Do the likes count towards my home page? Is there a way that a like can simultaneously like my facebook page AND my website? Which is best for search metrics? Thanks for your responses.
