G+ company page custom url
-
Hi
I thought these could only be strictly brand name and as suggested by Google however i see a clients competitor has added an obvious target keyword to the end of their custom url
Does this have any benefit ?
Is it advisable to try achieve similar for my client or is it bad practice since contrary to G's guidelines ?
If it is ok to do similar how do you edit your custom domain ?
All Best
Dan

Hi Dan,
In many Google+ cases, your custom URL will need additional characters added to the end of the pre-selected URL. So they have chosen to add a keyword to the end; but it could have been a city, number or anything.
There is no benefit to doing this, there is no 'SEO' value to your linked website or your Google+ Page. Other factors like categorizing, reviews, location and your linked website's value will help Google+ Local pack listings.
Once you have chosen your custom URL, you cannot edit it. You can also not choose whatever URL you want for your page. We are simply given whatever Google thinks appropriate.
Hope this helps!

Invite a Facebook user to Like a Company Page
Hi All, Was looking at our Facebook company page last night and was going through our recent posts and noticed that the individuals that liked our posts had an "Invite" button next to their name. I've been testing this and is it true that I can only send an Invite to like my company page if I'm actually friends with the user? The "Invite" button is there for every individual that has liked a post on our page, but I've only had success sending the invite to people I'm connected with. The frustrating thing about this is that the button changes to "Invited" regardless of whether or not they have actually received the invite.

Facebook Business Page Optimization: Awards Section
Hi everyone! I am looking to add my clients awards to the Facebook business page to add a little "pow" and give myself a "look what I did" talking point at my next meeting with them. I was comparing their page to the competition, and I noticed the competition has a lovely Awards section under their About. Do you know how/where this is hiding? My clients business page is rather new (a little over a year old), so I'm leaning towards this was an old feature that Facebook has not hidden from older pages. Anyone have any idea on where this is hiding? fXVWEwM

Should rel=publisher tags (pointing out at Google+ Business page) only go on the homepage?
Hello, I've just read... “Publisher tags should only go on the most significant page of your site, usually the homepage.” Is this correct?

Visits in Campaigns report exceed pageviews in Pages report in Google Analytics
We tag our links in social media posts with the source (i.e. Facebook), medium (Post) and campaign (i.e. kids funny sayings). We often see in our Campaigns report that the number of visits generated by a Facebook post exceeds the number of pageviews for that linked to page in the Pages report Has anyone else had this experience and why does it happen? Or am I missing something really obvious or doing something wrong in which case, please please enlighten me!

Social Icons Link to Inner Pages
We have the social icons (facebook, twitter, youtube etc) in the footer of our homepage linked to inner pages instead of our actual social accounts. So, if you click on the facebook icon you go to one of our inner pages talking about our facebook profile and why to like us on facebook. Then on this inner page you can get to our facebook profile. We do this so we can pass on PR juice from our homepage to our inner page, and not lose it right off our front page. Is this a good idea? Or does it just confuse users? Most people think when they click on a facebook icon they will go to an actual facebook profile. Here is my homepage, http://www.buyautoparts.com/ click on the icons on the footer and let me know your thoughts.

Facebook Pages for Business
Our company has over 100+ stores. Does it make sense to have a main Facebook page and individual pages for each location? How does each affect SERPs? Thanks!
