Hi there,

When you add pages to a site, do you need to re-generate an XML site map and re-submit to Google/Bing? I see the option in Google Webmaster Tools under the "fetch as Google tool" to submit individual pages for indexing, which I am doing right now.

Does your platform automatically regenerate the sitemap and resubmit it to Google for you? If so, then don't update it again. You can fetch and render but you don't have to. Once the sitemap updates, Google will most likely recrawl the page that has been edited or added.

Does a no-indexed parent page impact its child pages?

If I have a page* in WordPress that is set as private and is no-indexed with Yoast, will that negatively affect the visibility of other pages that are set as children of that first page? *The context is that I want to organize some of the pages on a business's WordPress site into silos/directories. For example, if the business was a home remodeling company, it'd be convenient to keep all the pages about bathrooms, kitchens, additions, basements, etc. bundled together under a "services" parent page (/services/kitchens/, /services/bathrooms/, etc.). The thing is that the child pages will all be directly accessible from the menus, so there doesn't need to be anything on the parent /services/ page itself. Another such parent page/directory/category might be used to keep different photo gallery pages together (/galleries/kitchen-photos/, /galleries/bathroom-photos/, etc.). So again, would it be safe for pages like /services/kitchens/ and /galleries/addition-photos/ if the /services/ and /galleries/ pages (but not /galleries/* or anything like that) are no-indexed? Investigating a huge spike in indexed pages

I've noticed an enormous spike in pages indexed through WMT in the last week. Now I know WMT can be a bit (OK, a lot) off base in its reporting but this was pretty hard to explain. See, we're in the middle of a huge campaign against dupe content and we've put a number of measures in place to fight it. For example: Implemented a strong canonicalization effort NOINDEX'd content we know to be duplicate programatically Are currently fixing true duplicate content issues through rewriting titles, desc etc. So I was pretty surprised to see the blow-up. Any ideas as to what else might cause such a counter intuitive trend? Has anyone else see Google do something that suddenly gloms onto a bunch of phantom pages?

Help! Pages not being indexed

Hi Mozzers, I need your help.
Our website (www.barnettcapitaladvisors.com) stopped being indexed in search engines following a round of major changes to URLs and content. There were a number of dead links for a few days before 301 redirects were properly put in place. And now, only 3 pages show up in bing when I do the search "site:barnettcapitaladvisors.com". A bunch of pages show up in Google for that search, but they're not any of the pages we want to show up. Our home page and most important services pages are nowhere in search results. What's going on here?

Mysterious drop in the Number of Pages Crawled

The # of crawled pages on my campaign dashboard has been 90 for months. Approximate a week ago it dropped down to 25 crawled pages, and many links went with it. I have checked with my web master, and he said no changes have been made which would cause this to happen. I am looking for suggestions on how I can go about trouble shooting this issue, and possible solutions. Thanks in advance!

How do I keep Google from crawling my PPC landing page?

Question, I don't want Google to catch my PPC landing pages, but I'm wondering if I make the page no-follow, no-index will it still crawl my landing page for quality score? Just to clarify I do want it to crawl the landing page to boost my quality score on PPC, but I do not want it to index it for SEO. Thanks 🙂
