One of the basic tools SEO's use to determine the strength of their website's rankability and trust on behalf of Google is a website audit. This process effectively gives you an outline of your ranking factors and potential issues that you can fix such as 404 disconnects, incorrect 301 redirects, improper heading usage or missing meta tags, among 100 other factors. This is what I think you should have done for your website.
If you want a DIY method, several website audit tools include:
SEMRush (semrush.com)
SEM PowerSuite (Website Auditor)
WooRank (woorank.com)If you want someone to go over the results of the audit with you, it would be a good idea to consider hiring an SEO consultant who will be able to make sense of your audit and help you reach your SEO goals.
From the sounds of it, my gut tells me it has something to do with a 301 redirect error or set up errors with respect to your site. There is a small chance it's related to your Google+ profile or perhaps to duplicate content or your link profile, but these are less likely.

This is a complicated scenario - there is no "simple" answer to what you are asking because there are so many factors at play here.
My suggestion is that you conduct a local SEO audit on your website to determine what ranking factors you need to work on. It might be as simple as failed optimization on your Google+ page to limited local site authority or even that it wasn't properly registered. It could be that you need further reviews on your Google+ or 100 other things. Without direct access to your site there's not much I can tell you from the outside other than that a site audit would probably do you good.
If you merged two pages to become one, it might be something to do with the redirect process (assuming this is what you did). If you made alterations and your rankings suddenly dropped through the floor, this suggests that there is something Google has picked up that it isn't happy with. Again, a website audit would probably do some good in this scenario.
Hope this helps! If you need further help feel free to ask.
All the best!
Rob

Local News or National News backlinking?
Hello guys, I got an two offers, one from national newspaper and one from local newspaper (both online and printed editions, but here is online edition relevant.) to write about my company because we had some remarkable results in our niche. They would write a text about 2.000 words long and put a backlink to my website with the anchor text of my choice! The national newspaper has DA 49, whereas local newspaper has DA 39 but comes from the same city where we are based and writes just about the specific city and district in this city. Which one would you choose for your SEO?

Changing the business name in citations and GMB
In Australia, some businesses are Pty Ltd (Proprietary Limited) hence, their business name ends with xxx Pty Ltd. How accurate do we have to be when building citations or updating citations that Pty Ltd is included in the business name? We've got clients who have left out Pty Ltd in their previously built citations and we're wondering if it's worth the time to actually update them to include Pty Ltd. Also, does changing a business name affect its rankings? This is more than just "Pty Ltd", it's changing from XYZ to ABC. We've previously had to change a client's address on their GMB and this had a negative effect on the client's rankings. Will changing the business name have an adverse effect? Thank you in advance for your advices!

Does Google Penalize for Hiding Address?
I have a situation where a client is working out of their home. I know that Google does not like when you list a business with a home address so we have hidden the address on Google, but are wondering if Google penalizes businesses for hiding it? When listing them to other directories we do our best to find ones that we can hide the first line of the address. But does that matter? Should we just be listing to our normal directories with the address visible? Does a mix of hidden addresses and visible ones hurt your rankings? Thanks in advance for your help!

Local search results question
Hello, I wonder if anyone can help. I have a client who is based outside the main city that he is wanting to rank in. The address on his website is his own home which is about 20 miles from the city. However, he services the city and the surrounding area. His ranking for the very competitive keyword is on page 2 and won't budge. We have made his Google+ page show the servicing area to include the city. We add new content regularly. The onsite SEO is strong and the city name is in the Title and H1 tags. We have lots of local consistent citations for him. This usually results in movement in the SERPS in my experience. But after 3 months this keyword is stuck whilst his other less competitive keywords are moving up. He is ranking 1st for the local area to his home address for the competitive keyword. So my question is - is this purely a result of his local address. Does Google rate him less local than his competitors who have addresses in the city even after we do a lot of citation building etc for him? Will it be possible to rank him for the city? I know 3 months isn't long but still would expect to see some difference. Anyone got any thoughts?

Nitpicky NAPS Local Question
I'm about to setup all our NAPS for our Tampa office with Moz Local, and I'm curious about one small thing: suite vs ste? I have read that what matters most is consistency, but since I haven't set it up yet, if anyone had any experience with full names being written out doing better/worse than abbreviations? Thanks, Ruben

Site links mutually exclusive with Google+ Business?
Hey all! I've been looking at the search results for our company name (Angelsmith). Looking at our listing, our search result has title, authorship, ties in with Google+, reviews, link to map, plus the big sidebar Google+ Business result with map, logo, directions, hours, etc. Our site is well-indexed, we're using a sitemap, etc. but I notice we do not have any sitelinks under our result. And come to think of it, I can't remember seeing any search results that have authorship and Google+ listings on it AS WELL AS a nice set of sitelinks underneath. So I'm wondering: are Google+ Business and sitelinks mutually exclusive? How about authorship and sitelinks? Do we have any control over which get displayed on search results? Thanks in advance, --eric
