Google Local Feeds - Cover & Profile Photos??
-
Hello - I am trying to help a biz w several dozen locations with their Google+ local pages.
However, I'm not sure automation is the best solution: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3370250?hl=en
In particular: Can you stipulate a Cover Photo and Profile Photo via Google's automated feeds? I see that you can add "images", but not much more than that.
Do we have to manually upload cover photo/avatar info? If it turns out we have to, IMHO would be totally worth it even if time-consuming, but just trying to figure out the balance between automation vs manual factors.

Thanks Ryan! It sounds like we'll have to go the manual route for cover and profile photos, but we'll also def plan to upload other images via bulk upload as well.

Thank you Lynn for the fast response and clarification - it sounds like we'll have to do a combination of bulk uploads and manual tweaking of profile images and cover photos. I also wish we could automate this - it's SO important for branding to have a nice cover photo and profile image. Otherwise your Google+ page can (IMHO) look super generic. Anyway, thanks for feedback.

You'll likely need a combination of the two. You can bulk upload images in the dimensional range of 1000x1000 to 3000x3000 "We recommend adding photos that are larger than 1000 x 1000 pixels and smaller than 3000 x 3000 pixels." (https://support.google.com/business/answer/6031953) and then select what you want as a cover photo within Google+. See this guideline: https://support.google.com/business/answer/4791112.

Hi,
I don't think you can specify profile and cover pics through the bulk upload tool (I never managed to) so you are likely going to have to go the manual route. Even so, with 80+ locations it only took an hour or two to upload them all. The bulk tool certainly saves some time uploading a lot of the needed data, but in my experience has a few bugs still.
As to whether the pics should be unique or not depends a bit on the circumstances. We were dealing with a franchised chain and it made more sense to standardize the profile and cover pics across all the stores (so... I would have quite liked to automate this to be honest!).

Google maps listings
Hi all, I just wondered what determines the company listings that are displayed in maps. From what I can see any businesses highlighted in these lists have optimised Google Places pages and it doesn't seem to be based on general ranking as these lists seem different to the general SERPS. Any thoughts at all appreciated. Pls see attached image. Also, is there anything other than optimise your Places listing that might help ensure you are seen in these results? IUK871m.jpg

Google My Business page no longer appearing with search results
Title pretty much says it all--my company's local Google+ page has always appeared under our listed website information up until very recently. I'm also noticing the same with our competitors. Has anyone else just began to experience this? Our NAP, map, photos, and review are still displayed to the right of the results, but nothing is linked to the actual Google page itself. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Local business with many locations
Hi guys So ive been helping a local business out with their Google my business pages, they have them set up over several different accounts, which I dont think is a problem, however am sure its more helpful having them under one login, does this matter so much ? They are one company, however the titles for their business listings are all different, they have stuck some keywords into the business titles and the area, I am guessing the title for the different businesses in different citys should all be the same just the company name ? is this correct as they need to be consistent dont they ? As i am sure WH smiths for example all their business listings in different citys are just WH smiths and not with some keywords after each different branch ? I just wanted to check this up, and make sure I wasnt messing up someones listings lol !! J

Local Subdomain vs. Local Subfolder
I know this is an issue that's been discussed here ad nauseum but I have, possibly, an interesting case. A third party company created our local search pages, and they perform very highly in SERPs, but are subdomains (local.website.com). But my problem comes down to two things, one of which isn't necessarily a subdomain vs. subfolder issue. 1.a. With the subdomain local.website.com we rank much higher for local search than we do for regular search on our main domain and it's respective keywords, would changing these subdomains to subfolders keep the link juice that the subdomain currently possesses and actually help our website rankings? b. And what strikes me as the most puzzling is that on local.website.com ALL of the content is identical (I can thank Copyscape for that) to the other local search pages on our own site and various other sites in our industry. I know the duplicate content is hurting our domain, which makes it even more confusing that our subdomain is ranking so highly for things like "diamonds by the yard florida". 2. We're an online only company, and I feel as though gaming the local search function isn't exactly something we should be doing, both from an ethical and an SEO standpoint. Is there any evidence that abusing the local search functions can have a negative affect on a domain's rankings? Hopefully this makes sense, if anyone needs clarification please let me know and I'll endlessly clarify. Thanks,

Google vs. Google+ Local Rankings - How do they relate

Google won't index my site?
Hi, I've just signed up and am new to SEO. I placed my site live around mid December 2013. Initially I got 2 pages indexed but now not even they show up for site:www.traditional-cleaning.co.uk. According the Moz analytics I have 3 pages with duplicate content which are: http://traditional-cleaning.co.uk/http://traditional-cleaning.co.uk/index.htmhttp://traditional-cleaning.co.ukProblem is I have no idea how to fix this, don't know whether Google isn't indexing my site because of this and generally am a bit stuck! Can anyone have a quick look at my site and give me a push in the right direction?
