Can you track two Google Analytics Accounts on one site?

If you have a site that had an old analytics account and then implemented a new one is it possible to run tracking code that records to both accounts without causing your site or data issues?
We are doing this so we don't loose data at any point - ideally it wouldn't have been split between the two but making one redundant isn't an option.
Ideally we would have merged the data from both accounts and had one - however the research we have done points to this not being a possibility - unless one of you guys knows different?
It would be great if anyone has experience on any this..

I did see the reply thanks for the reminder - unfortunately it didn't solve the problem so I will keep digging although it appears that what I want to do may not be possible with GA.

Thanks for the help - unfortunately it appears that you can't share between analytics - the sharing settings are focused around other Google products such as importing GA data to Adwords.
It is possible to have custom analytics code according to Google that will record data to the two profiles - so this is a work round although not ideal as there will still be a gap in both accounts for the different periods they were solely running....

Since its only been a couple of months, I wouldn't keep both going for long term. With that said, I found this on Google

Have you tried sharing data from the new account so you only have to use the old account?

I understand why it seems strange - however the scenario is that this site I am working on had one analytics account for several years and then was redeveloped several months ago. The developer added an new analytics account rather than the old. Now there is a scenario where you have two analytics accounts with data in them - the ideal situation would be where we could simply merge the two accounts not loosing the data and making one property. However this doesn't appear possible from the research I have carried out.
As such in order to not lose data contained in either we want to start recording data to both - I believe it is possible to run two accounts with a modification to the tracking code. I possed the question on here to see if anyone else had come across this scenario and wondered what they had done.
For now lets take it that we can't progress with one analytics account (unless someone can tell me how to successfully merge them).
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my original post and thank you for your response.

This is interesting because I've never heard of anyone creating a new analytics account to track the same site, when the old one was doing just fine, let alone use both on the same site.
Let's try to figure out what your goals are, so that might help shed some light to what you're trying to accomplish.
If you already had tracking codes, why did you create a new one for the same site? If it was just a matter of using an old version of the tracking code, you can just update the existing tracking code by replacing it with the new one and you won't lose any data.
Can you explain what your goals are so I can see if I can help you?

Should Google Trends Match Organic Traffic to My Site?
When looking at Google Trends and my Organic Traffic (using GA) as percentages of their total yearly values I have a correlation of .47. This correlation doesn't seem right when you consider that Google Trends (which is showing relative search traffic data) should match up pretty strongly to your Organic Traffic. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Why isn't Google Trends correlating with Organic Traffic? Shouldn't they be pulling from the same data set? Thanks, Jacob

Would updating Meta Titles affect Google analytics tracking?
Hi All, I need a little bit of help. We need to optimize our blog's articles Meta titles for SEO which all exceed 100 characters. I was told that if we change the titles, google analytics would split the tracking pages and count the data as 2 pages (old title and new title). Has any of you have this experience before and if so, is there a way to avoid google analytics counting this as two pages? Thanks in advance! Referral Traffic vs. Campaign Traffic in Google Analytics
I have two sites: a blog and an ecommerce site. The blog funnels people to the ecommerce site. In Analytics I'm seeing declines in referral traffic from the blog to the ecommerce site. During the same time I'm seeing an increase in campaign traffic to the ecommerce site, with most campaign traffic coming from the blog. I believe the increase in campaign traffic is largely a result of simply having installed more tracking links. This leads me to believe that the declines I'm seeing in referral traffic is simply a result of the increase in campaign traffic. In other words, what was once counted and reported as being referral traffic is now being counted and reported as campaign traffic. So my question is this: In Google Analytics is campaign traffic ALSO reported as referral traffic, or is campaign traffic reported separately and not duplicated in referral traffic reports? I'll provide a concrete example to make this more clear in case it isn't: Say site X sends 1000 visits each month to site Y. Say 50 of those visits come from a single link on X. If that link is changed so that campaign Z data info added (via the Google URL Builder), would you expect to then see 950 referral visits each month from site X to site Y plus 50 campaign visits to site Y via new campaign Z, or would you continue to see 1000 referral visits plus the new 50 campaign visits? How to remove unwanted dynamic parameters from a URL in Google Analytics
Hi, Would really appreciate some help with this. I have been experimenting with RegEx to achieve this but as I’ve never used it before am currently failing miserably. We have conversion pages i need to set goals for that are formatted as below: https://www.domain.co.uk//Application_Form/(S(ewhbqp5cki0mppuzukunkqno))/enterCardDetails.aspx I need to remove the (s(xxx)) section from the URL as rather than one pages i currently have thousands of unique URL's. What’s catching me out is that as it’s not a URL parameter I can’t discount and as half way through can’t just do head matches etc to /entercarddetails Help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I need to whitelist the Google Analytics servers via IP Address. Any one know their server IPs?
Due to a walled garden situation, I need to input all the servers we should have access to via IP Address. We need to track the way our users are browsing within the garden, so I require all the IP addresses that Google Analytics would use. Hey, How do shortened links show up in GA? So if I tweet about something and use bitly, does twitter get the referral? I am thinking not. I have never seen bitly show up as a referrer, but we gets lots of clicks from those links. Hmmmm. Anyone? E

Why does Google Analytics think PPC traffic is organic?
I have a bastard of a problem... Google Analytics is incorrectly tracking PPC traffic as SEO which is screwing up all my reporting . I don't care for rankings, I care for actual SEO traffic and I can't be sure that what i am seeing is correct which is driving me nuts. Any ideas?
