Google Analytics showing my Adwords campaign bounce rate at 0%
-
I am relatively new to Adwords, and I can't figure out why the Adwords section of Analytics is showing all my site visitors at 0% bounce rate. Does that mean the account connection is not done right? Obviously Google ads are not a 0% bounce rate.
If I can't get that to work, does anyone know how Google ads appear in Traffic? Is it Direct or Referral?
I'm sure there's some simple answer I'm just not aware of, I would appreciate anyone's help.
Thanks!

Hey Crystal, a couple things come to mind in this scenario.
The first is the obvious stuff like duplicate GA tags, which in my experience cause 100% bounce rates, not 0%, but still could be a possible issue.
The second is that something on the page is firing that causes a "single-visit but non-bounce session". The article linked earlier by Linda is a good explanation of this, but essentially there are multiple interactions a user can have on their first page of the site that would count as a non-bounce visit. They are:
- Pageviews (sent via _trackPageview)
- Events (sent via _trackEvent)
- Ecommerce Items (sent via _addItem)
- Ecommerce Transactions (sent via _trackTrans)
- Social (sent via _trackSocial)
- User Defined _deprecated, though functional _(sent via _setVar)
- (Cited from http://www.analytics-ninja.com/blog/2012/06/google-analytics-bounce-rate-demystified.html)
So, if the developers installed a tag that fired an event when PPC visitors land on the site, for example, that would cause a 0% bounce rate from PPC visitors, even if that user left without viewing another page. Not sure if that's your problem for certain, but it was the first issue that popped into my head. I haven't heard of a remarketing script firing one of these hits but could be the reason.
-
Do you think it is possible that a GA code and an agency's codes on the same page would be conflicting? The agency is doing remarketing for us. (still 0% bounce rates)
-
Yes, actually. I had my web dev check out the codes, and there might be an issue with a second tracking code we have on the site for an agency we are working with for remarketing. I haven't really figured out what to do yet.
-
Hey Crystal, how is this going? Are you still seeing 0% bounce rates?
-
Yes, you will have to wait a bit to see if that changes anything. But in the meantime, take a look at the source code of one of the pages that is reporting a zero bounce rate and see if the Analytics code is on the page twice. (Here is an article on bounce rates that has additional information, if that is not the answer.)
-
Yes, I thought I had. I went and re-did it. I also added columns into my Adwords for analytics. It's still showing all my bounce rates as 0%. I suppose I will wait 24 hours and see if populates differently...
-
Going back a step, have you linked your Adwords and Analytics accounts? Here's how.
-
Thanks for your help!
Something must be wrong because my Channels doesn't even have Paid Search listed. I will look into it more.
-
Is your Analytics code present twice on the page? That could do it. And in Google Analytics, the medium for Adwords would be "cpc" or if you look in channels, it is "paid search".

Running Google Ad Grants? How Much Is Your Monthly Spend?
Hi all - here's a question for everyone running Google Ads through the Ad Grant. How much of the $10,000 available to your account per month do you actually end up spending? I'm trying to see if I am in line with others in the industry. Would you mind sharing with me the type of nonprofit and the amount you're able to spend of the grant per month, on average? Thank you!

I've 'lost' my Google Referral Traffic
We recently re-launched our website on a new platform, PrestaShop. Up until that launch, our website, based on the DNN platform, received several thousand clicks per month from what Google Analytics classified as 'Google/referral', and several thousand more clicks collectively from international Google/referrals, i.e. Canada, Germany, UK and France. When the re-launched site went live, these clicks all went to zero on Google Analytics. My question is: Did we actually lose this Referral traffic through an improper setting on our new platform, or is this Referral simply being re-categorized in some other Source category like Organic Search?

Intermediate Adwords Course
I've got a decent understanding of Adwords however want to now take it to another level. Is there a course anyone can recommend that enables me to understand Adwords thoroughly to an expert level? I would classify myself as an intermediate at this point with a good foundational understanding, but far short of comprehensive. I'm looking for a video course and allow me to understanding everything to a deep level and how to execute strategies that can be effective.

Can I pass keyword match type through the Adwords dest URL?
Hi guys, I'm currently using duplicates of the same keyword with different match types, and I'd like to pass the keyword match type through the query, the same way I can pass the keyword and creative. ie. http://my.site.com/?kw={keyword}&kwmt={matchtype}&aid={creative} As far as I can tell, Google allows you to pass the keyword, creative (ad id), network and a mobile flag. Microsoft allows you to pass the match type and and ad id, and I want to be able to do the same in my Adwords. Is this is possible, or is the only way to create different ad groups for each match type and pass a custom query? Cheers, Jez

Google Analytics and Adwords Tracking Codes
A site I help someone with in link building was recently redesigned. I do not have access to the site in any way. Well, after the redesign, no conversions were tracking in Adwords and Analytics ecommerce tracking showed no transactions and no amounts. I found the Analytics code and sent it to their programmer. I have linked the Adwords and Analytics accounts. So now conversions are tracked in Adwords and transactions are tracked in Analytics. However, amounts have vanished and not returned. I'm not technically savvy enough to figure this out. How do I get this Analytics code to track transaction amounts so that they appear in Adwords and in Analytics ecommerce tracking?

Google PPC Management
Okay, so I have a client who wants me to manage their ppc on Google. It seems like either they give me access to their PPC account or I manage it via my own account and pre-bill for the cost, later supplying reports. Are those the two options? Thanks...MJ

Google Ads not showing
Hello, I am having some trouble with my google adwords. I decided to split my existing campaign into two campaigns, one for customers in the UK and one for the rest of the world. The keywords are the same - only the message is different. i.e. Tractor Parts Free UK shipping on Tractor parts mysite.com/tractor-parts & Tractor Parts Fast shipping to Europe from the UK mysite.com/Tractor-Parts According to Google Adwords my UK campaign has had no impressions and no clicks. However if I search for one of the keywords it appears in the search results with the UK text. Anyone got any ideas?
