Looking for SEO Help- Magento Temporary Redirects
-
We recently launched a new site (www.CanyonOS.com) on Magento Enterprise. We have run several crawl tests with Moz and keep receiving 302 redirect errors. We've used the admin console for our site to apply 301 redirects in every area that we could but have had no success. (Last audit was completed on August 14)
We are receiving 301 redirects on the following types of pages totaling 43k issues A majority of these issues are when adding and comparing products to the following types of urls.
- domain.com**/catalog/**product_compare/
- domain.com**/wishlist/**index/add/product/
- domain.com**/checkout/**cart/add/
Any suggestions from any SEO gurus?
Best,
-
Did anyone ever come up with an answer? The site is set for 301 Redirects but Moz show hundreds of 302s.. mostly Wishlist and compare related (Magento version 1.9.2)

Hey Bryce - Just wanted to check again and make sure these errors were fixed?

Hey Bryce,
Did Topster's answer fix this for you? Just want to make sure you got this resolved.

First and foremost, I appreciate your prompt response and help.
I am unable to locate the URL Rewrite Management. Which admin console were you in? The only available SEO options in our admin console related to permanent redirects under Catalog are following options
Catalog > Search Engine Optimizations > Create Permanent Redirect for URLS if URL Key is Changed (setting is Yes).
-
I've had a quick look at the module admin demo if you go to catalog > URL Rewrite Management > search for a page thats showing as a 302 > click edit > ensure the redirect field is set to 'Permanent (301)' that should do it. Let me know if you can see this open under catalogue.
Ps if you've already done this i'd submit a ticket to developer or look for a new module

We are currently using MageWorx SEO Ultimate Magento Exentsion. We have applied all 301 permanent redirects in both the extension and the main admin console settings.
Could the issue be due to improper indexing? Feel free to email me directly at bpatrick@canyonos.com. Once we determine a resolution i would be more than glad to repost with the solution we find.
Thank you,

I need more info, what is handling the redirects within the admin console? Also if whatever you're using is creating 302's instead of 301's see if it can be changed from within the module or try look for an alternative module that does it out of the box (simplest method). The only other way I know to fix this is the hard way which is going into the htaccess document of the server manually and putting the URL's either one by one or using a wildcard redirect (if URL structure is similar i.e. OLD: domain.com/test/bob1.html | NEW: domain.com/new/bob1.html.
Firstly get a full list of 302 redirected URL's and form an excel spreadsheet, either do the redirects myself quickly or pay a cheap freelancer. Cost to website if you don't find a fix will be detrimental to rankings. The longer its left the harder it'll be to get link juice back.

Someone redirected his website to ours
Hi all, I have strange issue as someone redirected website http://bukmachers.pl to ours https://legalnibukmacherzy.pl We don't know exactly what to do with it. I checked backlinks and the website had some links which now redirect to us. I also checked this website on wayback machine and back in 2017 this website had some low quality content but in 2018 they made similar redirection to current one but to different website (our competitor). Can such redirection be harmful for us? Should we do something with this or leave it, as google stop encouraging to disavow low quality links.

International Domains for SEO
My company is international and we have websites for each country with Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLD). I am in the US and I am seeing that other countries such as Costa Rica and Germany are ranking above us in search results. I thought Google automatically geo-targeted users by default and therefore I should only get .com or US results. Any idea why other countries would rank above our site?

How do i fix temporary redirects from Volusion?
I have around 20 temporary redirects that i can not really change. Â they look like this: http://www.bestfitbybrazil.com/reviewhelpful.asp?ProductCode=PANT+PA4069GRAFFITI&ID=17&yes=yes/login.asp See attached As you can see they are from LOGIN.ASP. Â This are system calls. Â I think the last thing I tried was blocking them in my robottxt file. Â but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Â Am I being effected by these redirects? How will Google look at them? QmiQcD6

Local SEO tips
Hi! I'm working on http://www.hgsplumbingandheating.co.uk/ at the moment, and it's going pretty well for local terms such as 'Norwich plumber' etc. Has anyone got any tips though on how it can be improved, especially with regard to getting the homepage ranking above the Places listings? Thanks!

Victim of negative SEO
Hello, I'm one of those people that got the "unnatural links" message from google. Since i run my site from the very first day and always was a one man business i know all the ins and outs of the website.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Henkiepenkie
Basicly i have  never ever used a seo company to submit my site anywhere.
Never ever i used any shady tactic to get better ranks.
The only thing i did was trading traffic/links with real active websites, being daily updated, high traffic, etc etc. So. After i got notified in webmaster tools i started digging into a list (provided by webmaster tools) to find out why i got this message (meanwhile i lost 75% of my se traffic in past 3 months) After searching for hours i found out that in the past 2 / 3 months my site has been spammed on about 150 forums (completely dead forums with nothing but spam on it) There was no logic at all since my site got linked with the most ridiculous and unlogical word phrases. Â
My site is adult related and all spam links contained word phrases like "bangladesh mobile"  or "rock girl"  or  "animal abuse" or "ringtones" etc etc. if i ever would be so stupid to start spamming my 7 year old strong business i would at least use titles that would make sence. anyway.
I can't do nothing about these forums, i don't own them, i can't erase them and if there are any owners, they simply don't respond.
I made a list of all the forums and send it to google but the only response they come up with is "there are still unnatural links". I hardly believe they did anything with that list i send them. I don't know what else i can do and was hoping that somebody could advice me on what to do here besides sending google messages on a daily base. cheers0 -
Help choosing titles
Good evening guys, I changed my titles last month, in preparation for the over optimisation penalty and the result was an instant and quite dramatic loss in traffic. I believe the reason is, the change resulted in a lot of duplicate titles. My website is similar to deviant art, but for mobile phones. So the titles include the brand of mobile phone for example. The titles were: Upload name + Brand + Content type - 3 tags - FILEID So an example would be Black Nokia wallpaper - black, abstract, grey - 12345 I changed them to Black Nokia wallpaper by artist name on domain name. But this resulted in thousands of duplicate titles and a dramatic loss in traffic. For example a user could upload 20 black wallpapers. With this in mind, I need to change my titles and fast. But I don't want to make another mistake. The one I am quite keen to try is: Black Nokia Wallpaper - Tag1, tag2 wallpapers - on domain name. So the main variable would be the name of the upload and then the 2 tags, to mix things up a little. Another option would be to throw the file ID in there somewhere? As that will always be unique. Perhaps the file ID could be in the place of the "wallpapers" after the two tags? I'd like to keep the domain name, for branding reasons. Any other suggestions are warmly welcomed. Thanks a lot.

Iframe redirect bad for SEO?
Hi, I have a website (http://www.blowingminds.de) wich I put a spreadshirt shop into via iframe. The thing is I am not sure on how the iframe effects my SEO? Can I just optimise the main domain for search? Well I want the spreadshirt shop to be found under the domain name (www.blowingminds.de) but the only real way to do it is by implementing an iframe because each spreadshirt shop has its own subdomain eg.: blowingminds.spreadshirt.de but the only real way to do it is via iframe, as they do not offer a complete domain redirect. (Or have I overseen some other way?) I hope you guys can help me on this one đ Thanks in advance. Malte

Redirecting Powerful Domains
What do you do if you have a client that never implemented a 301 redirect on their domain? Â For example here are the OSE stats for the URLs; http://url.com PA: 48 DA: 50 LRD: 65 TL: 1,084 FB: 178 FB: 14 T:5 http://www.url.com PA: 51 DA: 50 LRD: 165 TL: 2,271 FB: 178 FB: 14 T:5 G+1:3 My first instincts are to redirect the first one to the second one, but is it too late for that? Â Will that screw up all of their established stats? Â Any input or examples of past experiences with this would be great.
