Landing pages of web pages for multiple cities served
-
I have a customer that services literally hundreds of towns. I'm trying to figure out the best way rank in each town. Should I create a landing page or a webpage for each city and optimize for each particular town ( facts/information about the town. SEO titles H1, H2 and alt tags?
Thank you!

Awesome post. I'm actually doing the same now. I was thinking of going the landing page as well with a new domain. Would you recommend a brand new domain or just a page on the current domain with relevant city keywords, images, etc.
-
That's great, lots of work but great for your SEO.
If by landing page you mean an isolated webpage published under a new keyword-rich domain, I think you can achieve more just creating those pages in your current site using a relevant url.
-
Thank you , Daniel. My plan is over the course of time to build one for each city with original content ( Over 50% difference from other pages). Do you think landing pages or web pages are better?
-
Do that only if you have enough resources to produce all those landing pages with really original content. Otherwise you will get duplicate content and even it could be seen by Google as spammy content. Maybe a more realistic solution would be picking the most valuable cities and start building from there.

Daytona Beach Web Design vs. Daytona Web Design: What's Best?
Three months ago we had our team create local pages for some of the services we render -- _i.e., _web design. As we reviewed the pages, they created two pages with similar content; one with URL: /daytona-beach-web-design/ & /daytona-web-design/ We knew we had to kill one of them to avoid duplicate content. Here is where the hard decision came and hence the question. We though about keeping the '/daytona-beach-web-design/ ' URL but for some reason, Google had already crawled the shorter version of the URL '/daytona-web-design/' So we ended up deleting the long tail URL and kept Daytona Web Design instead. Which one would you keep and have you experienced similar issues?

Local Strategy for Multiple Domain Integration
Hello, We are a locally driven business with two locations. Currently, each location has its own local site and are linked to from our central domain (3 domains total). We are discussing whether we should integrate the local sites into location pages on our core domain. However, we would also prefer to keep the ‘local’ domains live. Is this a viable strategy and what would we need to do to ensure the local sites won’t cannibalize our efforts with the main domain? Also, should we remove the contact information on those local sites to avoid NAP issues? The other option would be to build out the local domains but that could raise concerns over budget and potentially expanding into the future. And we would like the main domain to take presendence. A few additional notes on this: Each location has its own brand name and contact information. Traffic across all 3 sites is about the same. We are also considering using silos with sub-folders to build out local service pages. We understand how to set up location pages but are asking more in terms of overall strategy and ideal way to position all 3 sites. Any help or insight would be very appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Matching page for keyword doesn't show in search
Hello! I'm having an issue with my website Rooms Index, the website is in Hebrew so I'll provide examples in English for better understandings. When I'm searching Rooms by Hour in Haifa, google doesn't show the intended category page which is this, instead it shows my homepage in the results, this happens only for certain areas, while other areas are working well such as Tel aviv. For example if I searched day use in Las Vegas it'd show me the Las Vegas page dayuse.com/las-vegas, but searching for Brooklyn I'd only see dayuse.com. the pages are indexed and I can find them if I search site:roomsindex.co.il what could cause such problem?

Why has my site dropped to page 2?
I haven't been paying attention to my sites SERP for the past year, and only realized I've dropped to page 2 on a keyword search. Specifically, on Google.ca, searching the keywords "wedding invitations" My site, www.stephita.com, used to consistently rank in the top 3 links. While my competitors have leapfrogged me. 😞 I realized that my site wasn't "mobile-friendly", and had a few other issues like keyword stuffing, long meta descriptions and titles. I've fixed these issues "now", but wanted to know does this mean my site was severely penalized by the Panda/Penguin updates for the last few years? Does having a PR3 site mean anything? My competitors who our rank me on SERP, are all PR1 sites. Greatly appreciate any feedback you can give me! 🙂

Local SEO - Multiple stores on same URL
Hello guys, I'm working on a plan of local SEO for a client that is managing over 50 local stores. At the moment all the stores are sharing the same URL address and wanted to ask if it s better to build unique pages for each of the stores or if it's fine to go with all of them on the same URL. What do you think? What's the best way and why? Thank you in advance.

Can you recommend any widgets or additions for a local landing page?
Our company has locations in several different cities, and we're in the process of creating landing pages for each city that feature relevant information. We use Drupal, fwiw. In the past, we've talked about trying to include a local weather widget, a news widget, or something similar as a way to help improve our local rankings for each area. Have you used anything like that? What did you find to be effective? Can you recommend anything similar? Thanks!

How best to clean up doorway pages. 301 them or follow no index ?
Hi Mozzers, I have what is classed as doorway pages on my website. These have historically been location specific landing pages for some of our categories but from speaking to a number of different webmasters , then general consensus is that they are not in google guidelines so I will be getting punished by having them. My options are : I can 301 the pages back to their original category pages . This will conserve some link juice to pass back to the respective category page. I can set these as Follow No index. Not sure what will happen here with regards to link value etc. What would be best ?... Some of the pages do currently rank "fairly well" for some of the locations so I am getting traffic from them but I also know I will be getting a algorithmic penalty for having them so how best I clean these up ?. Also , by cleaning up the site structure , would I see any benefit here ? or will I have to wait for a new panda update/ refresh ? I thought the panda refresh won't use a new dataset thanks Pete
