What is the best way to find related forums in your industry?
-
Hi Guys,
Just wondering what is the best way to find forums in your industry?
-
Hey Don,
Thank you so much! I will definitely give these a go, I tried the google way, and only came up with a lot of forums that were dated back in 2010, seems tricky trying to find something for psychic readings unless I'm looking in all the wrong places. I'll check the backlink profiles of my competitors and see where they're at!
Thanks again

HI Edward,
I'm not sure the "best way" but I can share 3 ways I know of.
Competitor Research
Check your competitors see if they actively participate or simply get links from domains which are forums. Usually a doing a search on their backlink profiles for "blog", "forum" will identify these quickly.Search Engine Search
I sometimes find relative forums simply buying going to Google typing a broad keyword + forums. At this point I have to evaluate the forum to see if it worth trying to engage with.Industry Engagement
If you are actively engaged daily in the industry talk you will pick up on what people are posting. For example following industry leader's Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Instagram profiles will lead you directly to some post and the places they are referencing.Once you have at least one location worth engaging with, you can also watch those places daily as many times people will re-post information from a similar site / forum. Take for example here.. we oft see info from SearchEngineLand.
Hope this helps,
Don

What is the best SEO way to categorize products on an ecommerce site
What is the best way for SEO to set up categories for an ecommerce site selling beauty products. I have currently built my product categories so that if a person looks under the hydration category they find our body lotion, but also if they look under the body section of products they also will find the same body lotion. Is this a problem for SEO? I think it helps the customer find the product.

I have an SSL certificate on our domain but at times some search results still list the HTTP version. Clicking on this then warns the user about security and they leave. To avoid this I am using this in the htaccess file to redirect all HTTP visits to the https version. RewriteEngine On

RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 80
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://domain.com/$1 [R,L] Is this ok? I notice on Moz toolbar it give a 302 temporary redirect I am thinking this isn't good and needs to be a 301 maybe? What is the best practice in this situation?1 -

Hiding Text in an SEO friendly way - is it possible?
Hello, I have a client who has very little (practically no) text content on his ecommerce website, on the home page and category / sub cat pages. We have drafted some text for him - but the designer has fought back against this as he feels it will break the design. Our proposed solution is to have some text visible - and the rest will be text that is hidden but can be revealed by clicking Read More. We are planning to follow these recommendations : http://www.shimonsandler.com/collapsible-div-seo-friendly/ We are not hiding text for the sake of it - but more to improve the UX. We of course want the text to be accessible - i.e. readable by screen readers. Does anyone have any experience or opinions in respect to taking this course of action, and is there anything we should make sure we either do or not do to stay on the side of the BIG G? Kind Regs, Rich

Keyword research - how to find additional competitors and links
Hello, We need 100 strong linking root domains to rank at all in our industry (probably more). But all our competitors are using internal pages. I only found one competitor that is using their home page, and I found 12 good backlink possibilities through it. How do I go about finding other competitors? I know this is a general question, but what strategies do you guys use, and could you give examples?

Subdomains for niche related keywords
I wanted to know how efficient using a subdomain is, taking in consideration all the updates Google has made lately. I am looking to use a subdomain for a well branded website for a niche specific part of their website. The subdomain will end-up having more than 100 pages. I'd like to see in what cases do you guys recommend using a subdomain? How to get the same benefit out of a subdomain as i am getting from the actual main domain?
